Like I said, it’s horse bleep.
Sorry kids this was not a clean hit it may have been unintentional but the Precedent has been set healthy young man is okay I am a fan of hard-nosed hockey and Good Hits but that was elbow
Whitecloud’s elbow was clearly down at his side at the time of contact: his upper arm was what made contact with Knies’ head. The elbow came up after. The issue should be if he left his feet before the hit or during the follow through. The announcers keep saying “elbow, elbow, elbow” when the video tells a totally different story: and saying he jumped at least a foot of the ice is beyond ridiculous.
Not really a leafs fan but I am 100% certain what I am seeing in this video is an elevated shoulder and elbow check to a players head. I have no idea what the referees are seeing when they watch the same video. 🤷♂️ The NHL needs to stop saying they have the best officials in pro sports. It's just not true!
Whitecloud started low, exploded up and left his feet to then make contact (primary) to the head. if he stays on his skates i think Knies still gets rocked, but he would have hit Knies's arm/shoulder/chest 1st then the head would have still been hit but secondary, and legal. The Jump/exploding action should be suspendable.
NHL officiating and the league itself is a joke. How is one hit to the head where the hitter doesn't leave his feet warrent a five game suspension where as another hit to the head where the hitter's skates lift two feet off the ice not even a two minute penalty? Sad.
Slow it down, he didn't hit him with his elbow at all, it was a shoulder, then his elbow/arm extends AFTER the initial contact. He did leave his feet, and the principle point of contact was his head. 2 game sus.
Matthew Knies has been nothing but promising. And now he has his second severe hit to the head in his career. This gong show empty headed circus that Bettman's running better clean this up or every dynamic player will have CTE by 30. Inexcusable.
It's calls like these that reminds me to not spend a thousand dollars, or more, taking "one" of my kids to a Leaf's game. The NHL officials, George Parros, the owners, and managers, and the NHL situation room in Toronto can all: Take-Off. The NHL situation room, and all the staff who want to keep their jobs, should be moved to Arizona. Have fun and good bye. At least then Arizona can feel some love from NHL Gary. The Leafs might win more challenges, get fairer calls, and not have to play like they have a target symbol on their backs.
As long as Bettman is still around, he'll always be again Canadian teams, especially the Leafs. In this case, though, it wasn't specifically against the Leafs but for Bettman's team
@Marixa1979 The same way Leafs fans called out Reaves' dirty hit? This was definitely dirty, as was the Reaves hit. The only reason this wasn't called is because it's Vegas
havent the league been saying that the principle point of contact DOESN'T have to be the head as long as the head is targeted? This has to be one of those cases.... If only reaves hadnt been suspended, this game could have been even better
The difference between Reaves hit and this one indeed was the principal point of contact. Here Whitecloud is targeting the body/head at the same time but main target is the upper body. However he jumps at the time of the impact and that should be also considered for a stricter penalty. Tough call.
@@randombutrelevantyou are an idiot. No matter what you can’t leave the ice in a hit you delusional idiot. Go vote for the libtards because you don’t understand hockey. Absolute horse bleep -I love NHL hockey, but the officiating and George Parros are a joke… Reavo gets a 5 min major plus game misconduct plus five games for that hit on Nurse on Saturday… somebody please tell me how Whitecloud’s hit is less severe… not even worthy of a five min major????? Whitecloud left his feet and delivered an elbow to the head. If you ask me, Whitecloud’s hit was good, a hockey hit… but is no different than Reaves on Nurse on Saturday… yet Reaves gets the book thrown at him, Whitecloud gets nothing. Like I said, it’s horse bleep.
Sorry kids this was not a clean hit it may have been unintentional but the Precedent has been set healthy young man is okay I am a fan of hard-nosed hockey and Good Hits but that was elbow
That is a hit to the Head
@randombutrelevant you should pay more attention. His head was up
He even left his feet and jumped into the hit. Obvious major penalty and game misconduct.
Wow That is a direct hit to the head, his feet left the ice by at least a foot antd to think the refs reviewed the play its a disgrace
They always give the Leafs penalties, just as the Oilers get too many power plays. The Vegas player jumped up to deliver the hit; no penalty?
The Leafs are presently tied for the 7th most PP opportunities per game played and the OIlers are at 31st in PP opportunities per game played.
Vegas fan here. Upon further review, Nazem Kadri has been suspended 8 games.
Change Department of Player Safety to Department of Random Decisions that make no sense and have nothing to do with Player Safety.
Skated head first head down then boom that’s hockey baby ..
Get that plug Parros out of there, theres a guy named Bieksa that has some common sense.
Let’s be honest, we all know that if a Leafs player laid that same hit they get a match penalty and probably a suspension
How was this not a major penalty?Poor decision by the refs.He actually lifted himself off the ice to hit him.
Dirtcloud strikes again...
This isn’t refs. It’s coming from Toronto upstairs. They riding a sausage from Vegas. Choking right down on it deep.
NHL officiating and the league itself is a joke. How is one hit to the head where the hitter doesn't leave his feet warrent a five game suspension where as another hit to the head where the hitter's skates lift two feet off the ice not even a two minute penalty? Sad.
Garbage call. GARBAGE.
Slow it down, he didn't hit him with his elbow at all, it was a shoulder, then his elbow/arm extends AFTER the initial contact. He did leave his feet, and the principle point of contact was his head. 2 game sus.
Possibly the worst call of the season. This is how you lose fans.
Destroyed him
@@randombutrelevant It's difficult to match your low iq from what you wrote here. You should apply for a ref i NHL.
was a great hit, knies got fucked
Dumb officials and Dumb Safety department
Matthew Knies has been nothing but promising. And now he has his second severe hit to the head in his career. This gong show empty headed circus that Bettman's running better clean this up or every dynamic player will have CTE by 30. Inexcusable.
How could this hit get nothing... FFS. What a bunch of crap. Just F'in WOW
The Leafs win by far the majority of their challenges.
@@jeffreycairns767 Bettman has nothing to do with any of the calls. It's just the Leaf fans playing victim.
@Marixa1979 The same way Leafs fans called out Reaves' dirty hit? This was definitely dirty, as was the Reaves hit. The only reason this wasn't called is because it's Vegas
@Marixa1979 You're kidding, right? There's very few teams that have get less calls go their way
havent the league been saying that the principle point of contact DOESN'T have to be the head as long as the head is targeted? This has to be one of those cases.... If only reaves hadnt been suspended, this game could have been even better
“department of player safety always goes against the #leafs “ Bones
that's just as bad as the Reaes hit. Has to be the same suspension
Left his feet, elbow up, head contact. The B crew of officials and situation room folks were on site…and apparently intoxicated.
Lol 😅
leaf fans lol
I like the leafs. There was no elbow up. His elbow was tucked on contact. It really wasn't a dirty hit at all. Knies just needs to keep his head up
@@MrGillie17 you mom needs to keep her head up.
@@fatalfoams not a leaf fan, troll.
Refs are totally disgraceful on this play... that's a BAD HIGH HIT on Knies!!! Hope he is OK 🙏🙏🙏
He left his feet
The difference between Reaves hit and this one indeed was the principal point of contact. Here Whitecloud is targeting the body/head at the same time but main target is the upper body. However he jumps at the time of the impact and that should be also considered for a stricter penalty. Tough call.
I disagree, he never jumped, contact was made with both skates on the ice and the impact caused him to be lifted off the ice. Good hit.
@@randombutrelevant ffs, calm down, we can make our views without you screaming.
@@randombutrelevantyou are an idiot. No matter what you can’t leave the ice in a hit you delusional idiot. Go vote for the libtards because you don’t understand hockey. Knies is 6 foot 3 and skating with his head up. There is no way he should be hit to the head in this scenario, it’s completely intentional. You can’t unintentionally leave the ice on a hit hahaha. I’ve played hockey for over 23 years and that’s completely intentional.
@@randombutrelevant he does jump while hitting him...I mean...... are you blind?
This shit always happens to the Maple Leafs. The American team are always the victims. This league is getting more garbage every game.
This call makes no sense. They actually looked at the same footage as us??????
The refs made Joe Bowen proper mad and that's crossing a line
Bettman, continuing the genocide...
The leafs should not have been shorthanded
This was ridiculous. These refs are a joke .
Remember, they're REALLY trying to get head shots outta the game.
In slow motion his skates left the ice AFTER contact his elbow was down and tucked into his body, no direct attempt to hit the head, GOOD HIT.
Ruling says doesn’t matter what the ampt was still a headshot
@ he never lifted his elbow or make any attempt to hit the head, his head ran into the arm and shoulder. Clearly you can see that?
You can make that same argument for Reaves but he still got 5 games. And it's clear he started exploding upwards towards the upper part of knies before he makes contact
@ Yes, he started to brace for impact but his skates were on the ice at the very instant of contact, the refs can see that on these iPads. As for Reaves he intentionally went for the head, made no attempt not too.
Where can you still listen to Bowen?
When you’re on the toilet. That’s his voice you’re hearing
Knies was having a great season. Thats too bad.
Referee calls, have be inconsistent all season long?
After reeves being suspended for 5 games I expect whitecloud to get the same treatment especially after he exploded upwards after hitting knies’ head.
Are you serious? 1. No penalty. 2. Bettman's team. Nothing will come of it, guaranteed. It's not right but welcome to Bettman's league
@@jeffreycairns767his being sarcastic
@@CorrespondentHCNS I should hope so. There's no way they punish Vegas like they would most other teams
Such a diverse group of zebras on the ice. Some have no eyes! 👀
Should be a three-game suspension but you know it won't be because it's Toronto
