Thank you Bruce! It isn't easy getting snow shots, it either snows at night or if it snows during the day ,the railroad has a big work window and they don't run trains, lol! I get lucky every so often thou! Thanks for watching my friend!
Thank you Damien! I might complain about the cold on occasion, but I'll take the cold over blazing hot weather any day ! Thanks for watching my friend!
They turn off their ditch lights and dim the headlights when they meet another train, they don't do it for me. It's so they don't blind the crew in the opposing train. Thanks for watching my friend!
Hey Dave, another awesome video my friend and you and your family have a happy New Year’s and as always you stay safe out there and watch your back and we’ll see you on the next one
Great video Dave kind of has that Runaway Train feel to it. Nice catches a couple Warbonnet's an H1 a nice power move and more good stuff thanks so very much and have a Happy New Year.
Thank you Tucker! Yea, that power move was cool, but only the lead locomotive was working, although it was a pretty short train with only 70 some cars! You're welcome, you have a Happy New Year too and thanks for watching my friend!
Love these videos-don’t miss the snow and ice. DED= Dragging Equipment Detector-as the first train approaches you can see the vertical, metal plate between the rails.
Thank you PCBill0622! Yea, the older I get the less I care for the snow and cold! They have those DEDs and Hot Box detectors placed every ten miles on this line! Thanks for watching my friend!

That manifest had allot of power on it. 8 engines, maybe a power move. Didn't have a dpu on it. How much snow did you get? Thanks for the video my friend stay well roll on and stay warm
You're welcome Mark! Yea, it was a power move, only the lead locomotive was working, only 70 some cars though. We got about 2" and about an hour after this video was shot it turned to rain! Thanks for watching my friend!
I loved hearing that manifest train notching up to get moving. I was surprised he was able to notch up so fast. Won't they get wheel slip if they accelerate too fast from a stop in those conditions?
I love that sound too, especially when it's an EMD710 two stroke!! Only the lead locomotive, in that consist, was working, as most, if not all, of the railcars are empties, that's why he was able to accelerate so fast. The microprocessors, in the locomotives, monitor for wheel slip and take the corrective action (sand etc.) if they detect any wheel slip. Thanks for watching my friend!
@@PacificNWRailfan Wow! It's so interesting how advanced all of that is now and how much power there is. I think the way they use DPUs now is so cool and even more interesting
Thank you Angela! We only got about two inches (5.08cm), but unfortunately about an hour after I took this video it changed from snow to rain! Thanks for watching my friend!
Thank you TrainsOnGoPro ! I couldn't have asked for any better that day. I got those four trains all within an hours time period and shortly after the last train, the snow turned over to rain! Thanks for watching my friend!
C'est rare chez cous 8 locomotives en tete de train? Avec la neige et le brouillard, pas évident à conduire? JOLIE VIDEO BIEN FILMEE . merci et à bierntôt. Amicalement.
Thank you Xavier! Normally they don't operate with that many locomotives. It is what's called a "power move". When they get too many locomotives at a rail terminal, they will move some to another terminal that needs locomotives. This train, with the 8 locomotives, only had the lead locomotive operating, all the rest were along for the ride heading to their new location! I'm not sure how difficult the snow and fog makes it to drive for the trains, but I do notice that they don't run as fast when it is foggy. Thanks for watching my friend!
The DED sign means there is a dragging equipment detector located there. Go to 1:19 in the video and on the left side of the screen you'll see the dragging equipment detector sticking up between the rails and one paddle on each side of the rails. If there is something dragging, when it hits those paddles, they get pushed over and that trips the detector which sends a radio message to the crew letting them know they have dragging equipment and which axle it's on. Some DEDs are incorporated with the hot box detectors, others, like this one , just stand alone. Thanks for watching my friend!
You're welcome Charlie! Yea, looked cool with eight locomotives, but only the leader was working, the rest were along for the ride! Thanks for watching my friend!
@@ACDZ123 Yep, it was a short train, only 70 some cars, and the grain cars are empty and I would guess that most of the other ones are empties too, no a lot of weight for 4400 horsepower!!

Why did the train at 08:51 have 150,000 locomotives????
It had Eight locomotives and it's a power move, they need locomotives in another terminal. Thanks for watching my friend!
I realized watching this that the train crews were kind enough to turn off some of their running lights as they approach and see you.
They turn off their ditch lights and dim the headlights when they meet another train, they don't do it for me. It's so they don't blind the crew in the opposing train. Thanks for watching my friend!
Wet dream.
They don't do it for anybody else except if there is another train coming up, so as not to blind them.🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
