This is actually a break-up song. Written for Lindsey. It is Lindsey on guitar, and she is singing to him. The live version is much more emotional. She really puts everything into it.

Before joining Fleetwood Mac, Stevie and Lindsey recorded an album together that did not do well, and they were dropped by their record company. Stevie wrote this song at a time when she was second guessing her career choice.

Stevie is one of the greatest singers ever inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame twice once by herself other w Fleetwood Mac. The beautiful guitar playing is by Lindsey Buckingham. Has a great voice also. Have you reacted to RHIANNON the version on Midnight Special in 76? Stevie was on 🔥 Fire. She's,a rocker also. This is the video to react to the others are very good this is phenomenal.

The beauty of this song is it so relatable to so many points in peoples life. Failing relationships or just the fear of growing older. As an older married person and seeing my SO fading I can feel the Landslide even more than breakups in my early life. The song just gets stronger.

Harri, you asked if I was going through something when I first heard this song. Yes...it's called puberty. LOL So what I meant by saying I felt like she was singing directly to me was really that I *wished* she was singing to me! I mean, as a boy, looking at photos of this gorgeous young woman, listening to her angelic voice, and dreaming that one day a girl as pretty as her would care about me so much to write and sing such powerful emotions...well, as I said in my intro on the video, I instantly fell madly in love with her. ps~I liked what you said about how it would sound like a love song but would then turn somber a few times, because that really defines her on-again/off-again relationship with Fleetwood Mac guitarist, Lindsey Buckingham, the lucky SOB who Stevie actually wrote this song for.

This is from a girl's viewpoint. I was 17 when I first heard "Landslide". I loved it, it still is my favorite Fleetwood Mac Song. I celebrated it at that time in my life, even though I was in the middle of finding my way...things were exciting. But it flashed through my mind for just a second, what would my feelings be like 20 years later, I felt a little sorry for that 37-year-old me. But, the moment passed quickly as I couldn't imagine being 37. Skip forward to1995, it went so quickly, (20 years-amazing). Someone did a cover of it that my 15-year-old daughter loved. When I heard it, I told her how much I loved it and that magical Stevie Nicks sang it originally. I played it for her, and she loved it too. And then I told her, this speaks to you in one way now, but in 20 years it will be a wholly different vibe for you. It was amazing, but she remembered that and when she was in her 30's, she said, "You're right Mom, I just heard Landslide and it is a very different thing now. It was great that she remembered, but it was bitter-sweet for me when she found out what I meant. The pay off is worth it even so. We both love it and we love Fleetwood Mac.

She wrote Landslide in Colorado. Lindsey had abandoned her there and their record label had dropped them before they were to release their second Buckingham/Nicks album. Stevie was doing a lot of soul searching in this song whether to continue her dream of making it in the music industry or just getting a job. A few months later Mick Fleetwood happened to be at the same studio and heard Lindsey playing guitar, and well the rest, you know...

This song is about a father-daughter relationship. Stevie Nicks wrote it on the guitar in about five minutes in Aspen, Colorado. She was surrounded by mountains and thinking, "Wow, all this snow could just come tumbling down around me and there is nothing I can do about it." When she feels like this she just goes to a room and writes her thoughts down so she can read it and ponder what she has written.
Nicks said of this song: "My dad did have something to do with it, but he absolutely thinks that he was the whole complete reason it was ever written. I guess it was about September 1974, I was home at my dad and Mom's house in Phoenix, and my father said, 'You know, you really put a lot of time into this [her singing career], maybe you should give this six more months, and if you want to go back to school, we'll pay for it. Basically you can do whatever you want and we'll pay for it - I have wonderful parents, and I went, 'cool, I can do that.' Lindsey and I went up to Aspen, and we went to somebody's incredible house, and they had a piano, and I had my guitar with me, and I went into their living room, looking out over the incredible Aspen skyway, and I wrote 'Landslide.' Three months later, Mick Fleetwood called. On New Year's Eve, 1974, called and asked us to join Fleetwood Mac. So it was three months, I still had three more months to go to beat my six month goal that my dad gave me." peace out.

But as a lover of music you will not regret doing a reaction to Dimash and the first song I'm going to suggest is ( sos ) at Slavic bizarre. This is a whole other level of music, talent, performance. Then anything you've ever heard or seen. There's nothing to compare him to! He has changed the way Iook at music all together. And I would hate for anyone to miss out on hearing the possibilities of a God given voice that is truly from another planet! I love the music you've reacted to and your reaction! Stevie wrote the song about her relationship with Lindsey Buckingham AND her father (who was an executive with The Greyhound Bus Company and moved around a lot -- she spent her teen years in the Bay Area where she met Lindsey in high school). It was 1974, she was living in Aspen and Lindsey was on tour as Don Everly's guitarist. This was before they joined Fleetwood Mac and being apart from Lindsey was making her doubt the longevity of their relationship. It's never been confirmed by either but Lindsey "strayed" a lot. What a maroon, as Bugs Bunny would say.

stevie wrote this before joining fleetwood mac, when she was questioning her relationship with lindsey. he had taken a gig in colorado (aspen, i think) and she went with him. they got into a HUGE arguement and he took off, leaving her with no means back to cali, where they were based. she ended up asking her parents for money to go back, which they gave her, but she wrote this truly reflecting if she should stay in the relationship, that life, after that. of course she did and history and a great song was made.
the live version from FM's concert from '97 is also an emotional wringer, if you'd like a slightly sager-with-a-bit-more-aged-wisdom feel. it's gorgeous and makes me cry every time ❤

The Great news is that her struggle gave her victory & she was able to kick her addiction, which is fantastic. Her voice is truly beautiful.
