A few notes on this from someone that owns 2 of these, if I may. The sd cards with games typically are added in by resalers/distributors. The reason I say this is: 1) especially early on these came without one, and 2) watching lots of reviews of it I see differing rom sets and experiences. The CPU likes to run at a lower clock speed, so typically it's good to set the function (FN) switch to boost it. This allows you to have a lower, more power efficient, mode for playing easier games, but can easily bump it up for more demanding games. I think someone was talking about being able to overclock it even. It does, of course, tend to get very warm in high performance mode. I don't know why drastic didn't swap for you, stock firmware (I'm on 1.04) will when you press L1 or L2 (sorry, don't remember exactly which right now). I typically set mine to single screen when I can and only swap when I have to (I know, I'm a heathen). The stock firmware keeps getting better and better, including adding Bluetooth functionality. TBH it feels like they had awesome hardware they wanted to get out to the world, but the software wasn't ready at the time. Pointers for updating firmware: 1) get the firmware from the Trimui Github, not their website, and 2) you can have the SD card formatted exfat, but when you update the firmware make sure to have a SD card formatted FAT32! For some reason it matters when updating only. I hope that saves someone from the frustration I had. Also there is an active and growing community behind this device that are working on things like TomatoOS that adds a layer of configurations on top of the stock firmware, and individual enhancements like Portmaster. Look, it's not a perfect device, but there is no such thing (out of the box at least?), but it is a great device that just keeps getting better and better.
I love my Trimui Smart Pro. Feels great in the hand and screen looks beautiful. So far GBA is my most played system on it and I always go back and grab it over my switch or any other handheld lately.
@@lerrymaine I’ve watched a lot of vids on this thing, it seems like everyone has a different answer. I got one coming to me. Some say it runs great no problems. But I’m thinking there is some compensation in some form.
Can u tell me what made u buy this ? I mean you can technically play all the games here in ur phone more smoother in a way better display via emulation since ur phone probably has a better processor then this and if u have a mid range phone u can run PS2 asw so what's the point
I bought it from AliExpress for around $50. One week later, it fell from my pocket and, despite a light fall, both the right and left buttons stopped working... Know it's pretty fragile
for 50 bucks you cannot expect a good quality pcb (probably what cracked) but then again, i dropped a 1000 dollar phone at the screen cracked as well. Also dropped other phones 1000 times and nothing wrong. Sometimes its just bad luck where it hits
With all the emulator handhelds that you covered, i would love to see a tier list of all the devices. I just found your channel and recently have been itching for some nostalgia. I dont mind putting in some effort to make these work nice and proper with no issues but i would also like to get more bang for my buck. Good price, good product that doesnt have a lot of self modding if that makes sense. I wish i could get them all but at the same time im trying to save and be smart about it. You opinion would be greatly appreciated!
The analog movement for Mario64 is more of an issue of N64 emulation not being able to replicate the n64 analog stick movement, nothing to do with the quality of sticks. I remember looking into this when playing DK64 on the wii u. It's cause emulation need something to convert digital movement into analog or something along those lines.
I love this amazing console. I am not an expert, but it is so easy to add your favorites games. I replaced a lot of the heavy psp roms for the games I truly like (mostly jrpgs). GBA games look spectacular. And PS1 games too. I think this Trimui Smart Pro is a little miracle.
You forgot to mention you can set the function button for cpu performance mode. It can make many psp/dc games perform a little better at a slight cost of power. I kept it on all the time.
The Pokemon games don't work on this device. You can use the device to save game play only until you are forced to save game play in the game(Emerald-Battle Tent Slateport Site), then it gives an error that it can't save and it is game over. Also, you can't play Donkeykong 64 as jumping from ropes isn't possible. Starfox 64 is pretty difficult to play.
The TrimUI is my go-to for arcade emulation, both MAME and FBNeo. Everything from CPS 1-3 to the Neo Geo library runs smoothly, and even more obscure titles from publishers like ICS run great. (Martial Masters is my prime example of a good ICS game.). So for arcade-oriented gaming, I recommend the TrimUI Smart Pro.
I wouldn't put NDS in the video description if it is not going to run that good. Otherwise everything was a very good video and the sleep function I think is the most solid selling point
I've got a cheap generic Chinese handheld (under $30 on eBay) that emulates NES, SNES and Gameboy. Looks just like this, but is colored red and blue to resemble a Nintendo Switch which was the hot new thing when I got this one a couple years ago. What I LOVE LOVE LOVE about it is that it has a mini-out-to TV (I had to get a set of AV female-to-male extenders, cause they give you a 3 ft cable with it). So I'm thinking, it's been a couple years, do they have any similar things that emulate later consoles? Does this one have an out-to-TV capability? Maybe under that gray pad you're unsure about? or via the USB? Mine pretty much works just like having one of the old consoles on my TV.
I must be missing something because i just ordered it and got it out of the and turned it on, and there are nowhere near 10,000 games... or even a couple hundred at that... And i saw a guy playing games like Goldeneye and Perfect Dark... and was stoked. Cannot find them anywhere
