Fair enough don’t agree with the 2012 schedule take they beat enough ranked teams and defense was historic before running into that all time saban team
In 2012 they had a pretty strong schedule. They beat 4 top 20 teams and 2 top 10 teams that year, and the only team on their schedule that isn't currently in the ACC, SEC, or Big 10 was Navy. I don't think you can really say it was a very weak schedule. They didn't play an SEC team that year and the SEC in that era was just way above the other conferences, but they played as hard a schedule as anyone outside the SEC.
I also want to say, of not for the Manti Teo fake girlfriend situation that the whole team knew about and were keeping secret, and that was obviously fucking with their best player, I think there's a good chance that same was competitive and ND could even have won. I don't think they showed up because that craziness was going on but none of us knew.
I'll give you 45 million reasons why they shouldn't join a conference just since the opening round of the CFP this year. No winning split with Rutgers, Kentucky Arkansas, Purdue or any other pile of deadweight that makes up the half to 2/3 of all conferences.
I hope they don't join. I love CFB for all the interesting quirks it has, including Notre Dame as an Independent. I miss the times when more schools were independent.
If the SEC played 9 conference games then half the schools will receive an L. Notre Dame will continue to remain an independent because they do not split/share the revenue. This years CFP bracket needs to be tweaked.
I love how no one cares that they are independent until they are winning. Them being a big time program that is also independent makes ND and college football unique. People need to stop hating on the successful formulas of others when it doesn't benefit them.

Notre Dame waited three weeks between their last regular season game and the first playoff game. Just li!e.the Conference winners waited three weeks between their title game and their first playoff game. Try again.
Notre Dame’s independence from the conference system has only been good for the program up until this point. The new playoff system needs to entirely forget conferences altogether. We saw this year that structuring the tournament around conferences doesn’t work because most conferences don’t even have a single team worth putting on that bracket. If the BIG 10 and SEC are demanding guaranteed tickets their cries should go unheard. The point of the playoff is to have the best of the best in college football, if you want everything that comes with the CFP you have to earn it on the field. Notre Dame has done that and this season proves that they’re better off without selling out to the BIG10 or anyone else.
Shouldnt have to. Each college decided to join a conference. Why doesnt ND get that same option to choose? Its because of grumpy SEC fans who cant get over the fact that the rest of the CFB gets to buy players with NIL like they did for a decade, and now they are slipping. Its just jealousy. More like they're willing to risk it. If they aren't in the playoff, they actually make less. Their TV deal for example pays them about half of what each SEC and BIG 10 school gets from their respective conferences TV deals. But if the team succeeds, makes the playoff and wins games, they can come.out ahead of those teams financially. They don't have to split the playoff money with 19 other teams like they do in the BIG 10.
To me i think this shows more about how useless conferences are. Conferences feels pretty useless. the only ones that matter are the Big10 and the SEC. even if conferences were demolished, those teams would still play each other a lot and have rivalries due to geography. what is especially wrong is how conference champions get the top 4 seeds and bye. This year all 4 conference champions were one and done. The only argument i can see for conferences are rivalries, and like i said you can still have those.
Literally doesn't make sense for Notre Dame. The only ones who benefit would be the other teams in the Big 10 because Notre Dame would just about double the total fans the conference has. Meanwhile, Notre Dame would get less money. Explain why that makes sense.
it’s just weak. All the big conference teams deal with scary competition and much higher injury risks as well as much more severe regular season ramifications. Dame plays easy competition, is able to rest players more, can cruise to a spotless record, and yet people are supposed to respect them?
Notre Dame probably had the best non-conference schedule every year before conferences started to realign for money. they played USC, TTUN, FSU, Miami, Penn State, Stanford, etc. You have no idea what you are talking about.
No…I think it would be cool but simply no. It is tradition. They have always been an independent why change now? They make the same amount of money or similar.
Because it’s lame that they refuse to take on a conference with tough matchups. They cruise through the regular season while dodging the same injury risks and playoff implications and we’re supposed to act like they are tough?
They schedule tough match ups because they CHOOSE to. You people act like they didn't just finish series against OSU and Clemson last year. Like USC , who they play every year, isn't normally a powerhouse. Like when they scheduled FSU 2-3 years ago when they were a top 5 team, they knew FSU was gonna fall so far. Like. They didn't schedule Miami for a home/road two year series that Miami backed out of this year. You pretend Notre Dame doesn't have 7 ranked wins this year, like they don't lead the nation with 10 wins against bowl teams. Just keep giving that casual.take that ND schedules cupcakes, to cover the shame you should feel.that your favorite teams play 2-3 FCS schools.every year and has maybe 2-3 tough in conference games a year, that the conferences FORCE them to play.
@snerdterguson ironically ND just scheduling Their traditional rivals regularly (USC, Stanford, Purdue, Michigan, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Boston College, Army & Navy) + Miami & Florida State would be a tough schedule most years
The AIPLANE CONFERENCE. look it up on Wiki. ND tried to form a coast to coast conference in the 1950s that would accommodate their Service Academy contractural obligitions that have been in effect since World War 2, and under no circumstances will they abandon due to the fact that NAVY bailed them out of dissolution at one point. It would have included Penn State, PITT, and Syracuse. Plus west coast teams and Air Force academy. Had it not been canned by the Pentagon due to expense, It would rival the B1G conference of today, perhaps even surpass it depending on who might have been added. 😮 ND will join no conference without clearing it through the pentagon first....which means ARMY and Navy would have to be included or compensated in a way that wont shut them out. Why do you hate America by putting this tripe on video for monetization?
ND shouldn't be forced to join. But they shouldn't be able to play in bowl games or for a championship. They can host their own bowl. Call fun with boys bowl.😂 their mascot should be a creepy van 😂
I hate this tired narrative! At best it’s an ignorant one and not worth listening to. “The 1980’s are calling the want their favorite ND hate topic back !”
I think at many points it was to keep the program with a positive record; but now that they are going to the finals, it’s time they joined a conference. I don’t see why the Big Ten wouldn’t take a program like their’s. If they don’t, it’s just weak. They played Army who self-destructed and A and M and that’s really it. I can’t respect a team who plays disheveled programs for the whole season then acts like they’ve been through half of what the power 4 teams and bigger conference teams have been through. Injuries, adversity, actually tough matchups; without facing those in the regular season, you’re a soft program.
you are forgetting a few teams in there that were actually pretty decent. Notre Dame played 6 teams this year that were ranked in the top 25 when Notre Dame played them, and ND spanked them SO HARD that they pretty much all got sent to oblivion afterward. On top of that Notre Dame does usually schedule harder schedules... or tries to... the trouble is that the schedules are usually worked out years in advance so a couple years ago when ND scheduled Florida State it was when they were at the heights of their power. We also had Miami this year, but Miami backed out of that for some reason. If you want some proof that ND might be scheduling a little harder than you think, look back at your team's schedule in the past and see how many FCS teams you play.... 2 a year? 3?... Notre Dame has played 1 FCS school in its entire history, and it was scheduled by the administration during an election year as a publicity stunt for DEI initiatives. Notre Dame doesn't schedule the little sisters of the poor, every game is a team with scholarship players that want to win their superbowl at notre dame stadium
If you think that, it is from being uninformed or misinformed. Notre Dame has had a long history of having one of the toughest schedules in the sport. They travel far more than any other major program. They take on the big dogs from conferences and I can't remember them ever scheduling an FCS team. Meanwhile, teams in conferences, even in the weaker of the divisions, schedule Eastern Tennessee State, FIU, etc., when they play an OOC game against a power 4 school, it is the dregs of that conference. I didn't see Penn St scheduling Clemson, FSU, USC etc. Only reason they play Oregon is because they must joined the conference. Only reason they play OSU is they have to.
Why would they? Why share their revenue from TV and all their other sources? As long as they are included in all the championship discussions by CFP and/or NCAA why bother. They get their cake and it it too.
You’re such a casual it’s hilarious 🤣 Did you not see who they’d just beat? They beat some of the best teams in the country to get to the national championship!

Everyone is crying about Notre Dame not being in a conference because they are winning...
Even though they laughed at Notre Dame for not being in a conference when they lost.
Pick a side already you clowns.
Thank You!😎
Are all conference equal?
Why should ND give up the money from their TV contract? Because, others are jealous. Nobody would give up all that money and exposure.
They should stay independent until they're forced to otherwise.
Better question, why aren't YOU an Indy???
U want t take all the money? Go for it.
ND sacrifices money to remain indy.
Go Irish! Because we got that money.
Crying about this is almost as bad as crying your wife’s boyfriend has a nicer car than you.
They’re in the ACC for all sports besides football lol
ND is in the Big Ten for hockey.
@@dannystacey115 👀👀
They should try and join the big 10 again bc they r in Indiana already
Why do you care? 😭
*ERBODAY ELSE* should go independent 2 cherray pick they schedule
Note dame should stay independent UConn should join the mac aswell with umass
UConn should just accept they're a basketball school and give up on football entirely
Make a video on uconn
I hope they join the big ten! It just makes sense
Tried already. They didn’t want us
Literally doesn't make sense for Notre Dame. The only ones who benefit would be the other teams in the Big 10 because Notre Dame would just about double the total fans the conference has. Meanwhile, Notre Dame would get less money. Explain why that makes sense.
@ Exactly it doesn’t make sense for Notre Dame but it makes sense for me! My team is in the Big ten
then your team has an Owner!
it’s just weak.
All the big conference teams deal with scary competition and much higher injury risks as well as much more severe regular season ramifications. Dame plays easy competition, is able to rest players more, can cruise to a spotless record, and yet people are supposed to respect them?
Foh lmao 🤣 we've played some of the best teams in the country.. Year to year
Notre Dame probably had the best non-conference schedule every year before conferences started to realign for money. they played USC, TTUN, FSU, Miami, Penn State, Stanford, etc. You have no idea what you are talking about.
@@WEST_THA_RAIDER This clown is just running his yap lol
Nobody's forcing your team to be in a conference so why are you trying to force ND to join a conference.
Professors need to go to a sabadical and not teach students grad students teach
I left my heart in San Francisco but I left my tripod at my parents' place. How about get a second tripod?
No…I think it would be cool but simply no. It is tradition. They have always been an independent why change now? They make the same amount of money or similar.
Then Miami and Pittsburgh need to consider going back independent then!!!!
ND will join no conference without clearing it through the pentagon first....which means ARMY and Navy would have to be included or compensated in a way that wont shut them out.
Why do you hate America by putting this tripe on video for monetization?
💴 that’s why
ND shouldn't be forced to join. But they shouldn't be able to play in bowl games or for a championship. They can host their own bowl. Call fun with boys bowl.😂 their mascot should be a creepy van 😂
You don't need to be in a conference to compete for a championship. Get over your jealousy and I'm not even A Notre Dame fan.
😭 cry baby
No reason to cut off a team because they are independent the bowls and decided by a committee and most bowls would kill for ND
We tried years ago and they shut us out
you are forgetting a few teams in there that were actually pretty decent.
They get their cake and it it too.
if notre dame joins a conference, the sport is gone
Should never have been in the playoff. They lost to Northern Illinois for god sakes😂
You’re such a casual it’s hilarious 🤣 Did you not see who they’d just beat? They beat some of the best teams in the country to get to the national championship!
Right, that’s why they’ve beaten three teams in the playoffs and are going to the Championship
@ so you beat Georgia with their backup QB. Fair enough, but you also lost to an FCS team basically 🤣
