Ranking at this time of year is over-rated. As a Wazzu guy I am all too familiar with starting strong and fading as injuries stack up. Hopefully this year will be an exception, but there's a whole lotta season left.

A lot of times rankings reflect a team’s potential. Michigan plays #11 USC tomorrow. If they win, having them ranked at #18 will give them a good jumping off point to put them where they deserve to be if they were to win. If they lose they’ll probably fall out of the rankings all together or be like #24 or spending. Illinois is the same way except they are undefeated and going up against ranked Nebreska this week. If they win that rank gives them a good jumping off point to where they deserve to be. If they lose they’ll fall out of the rankings. Texas A&M had a tough loss in the opening week. Their starter had a terrible QB rating of around 20. It was absurdly bad. But now they’ve switch QB’s and their new mobile guy torched Florida. True, it’s just Florida but they are undefeated in conference play and their ranking reflects that.

As someone who bleeds UNLV Crimson, the fact that UNLV football is even being mentioned for ranking is blowing my mind. You know how many 2-7, 3-7, 2-8 seasons we have had to endure. Sitting in Sam Boyd, in the sun while its 100+ out knowing we were going to get destroyed by some FBS team.

Leave Illinois alone! They might be sneaky good this year with how the rest of their opponents have been performing so far. The defense is starting to look like the one back from 2022 where Illinois had one of the best in the country that year. I do think they will lose to Nebraska this weekend, but I do believe it will be a close one with Illinois keeping Nebraska’s passing game tamed.

As a fan, I’m happy he came back but I also feel for him cuz two years ago he said he’d played his last home game on senior night as a Ute, then tore his acl in the rose bowl and had to come back, had to sit out a season and now two years later is trying to finish his career. Trust me, though he likes it here, he’s admitted 7 years is more than enough and when someone asked about an 8th year he said no. I think he really just wants to give the nfl a shot. Idk if that’ll work out for him but I hope he gets a chance. People can make fun all they want but 7 years in college wasn’t his plan either. Sometimes you just gotta take what life gives you. He’s done a lot for us. Hope him and the team have a great season
