It's no secret that it takes time to build muscle but what if you could do it faster by working smarter rather than harder. Well that's exactly what i want to go over today the 5 biggest & best muscle building tips for beginners & naturals. You might be thinking well who the heck are you to be giving me tips on building muscle & that's a very fair question. Afterall I spend most of the time on this channel talking about fat loss but my experience in fitness is firmly rooted in natural bodybuilding. I took myself from being a chubby teenager with hardly any muscle to a 230 pound fitness model & I did it all naturally. So if you want to learn how to build muscle using steroids there are probably way better sources out there but if you want to learn how to do it naturally give this video a chance because I spent over 10 years focusing on finding the fastest ways to build muscle, & in the process of opening 3 gyms I also prepped a lot of men & women for natural bodybuilding & bikini competitions. So today I want to give you all my most guarded muscle building secrets for free. I'm also going to do my best to make all these tips unique so it's not going to be the same old stuff that you've heard over & over again like simply telling you to eat more protein. With that said let's start with the very first tip which is to incorporate periodization. If done correctly this is one of the most powerful things you can do to improve your muscle strength & size consistently. In a nutshell periodization is the systematic breakdown of your training plan over the course of time & it will include micro meso & macro Cycles. Which will essentially break down your training plan in to weeks months & years. But instead of explaining to you every possible way that you could incorporate different cycles of periodization I'd rather give you guys a simple actionable plan to consistently make progress using the exact periodization strategy that helped me the most. You're gonna start by finding out what maximal weight load you can lift for each of your compound exercises for roughly 9 to 10 reps. This means that if you select a weight that you can do for 11 reps you should up that weight & the same goes vice versa if you select a weight that's too heavy & you can only do it for 7 reps drop the weight. You're going to stick this rep range for 2 to 3 weeks straight & you're going to try to increase the weight that you're using over the course of these two to three weeks again staying within that 9 to 10 rep range. After those two to three weeks are over you're going to switch to a rep range of 5 to 7 reps. Again find the maximum weight you could do for that rep range which should obviously be more weight than what you were doing for 9 to 10 reps. Now you're going to stick to this new rep range for another two to three weeks once again trying to up the weight whenever you can as long as you stay Within that 5 to 7 rep range. Finally after you're done with those weeks you're going to do a rep range of 3 reps for all those compound exercises again for two to 3 weeks before switching back to the original 9 to 10 rep range. When you come back to the 9 to 10 rep range you'll notice that you were significantly stronger & able to lift more weight. And you just continuously work through these Cycles. Every time you come back to an old rep range you want to try to increase your weight load even if it's by 2.5 lbs. This method helped me break through some of my biggest plateaus that I've experienced with building muscle. Literally do exactly that & I promise you won't be disappointed with your results. Let's move on to the second tip increase meal frequency. Now I know this goes against my typical advice that I give for fat loss. For fat loss meal frequency doesn't matter that much but building muscle requires a lot of calories especially if your'e struggling with building muscle you're going to need a lot of food. The only way that you're going to be able to eat enough thro...

I've been following these videos for a few months, I greatly appreciate the time, effort and free advice you have provided. I'm a former all American athlete and I was so wrong and really ignorant to mass gain and weight loss and diet. Its sad to say that I'm healthier, stronger and built better at 49 than I was at 22 when I was a top collegiate athlete. What a shame we were taught the wrong info growing up in the 80s and 90s. Thanks again!

I’ve been working out for the past 3 months at least 5 times a week, I’m not able to see a change on my body but my friends and people I know tell me I’m losing weight but the scale stays the same although my clothes fit better and I feel more energetic, I quit drinking in Dec 2022, started working out regularly and I do feel hungry all the time and I was worry cause I thought I was eating more than I should but like you say, it’s normal when you start building muscle I’m 45 years old, my past attempts to lose weight would only last a few weeks and since I didn’t see any changes I would go back to my old bad habits like binge drinking and eating but not this year and so far so good. I feel proud of myself and although it’s still very hard to exercise everyday because of my extra pounds I keep on going. I love watching working out videos so I can learn more about nutrition and how to gain more strength and muscle. Cheers

Came up with something like this on my own. Started dead lifting at sixty pounds, three sets, twelve reps. Went to 100 pounds, three set, ten reps. When that became normal I increased to twelve reps. When that normalised I increased another twenty pounds and so on. I call it leapfrogging. Immediately after the workout I have my protein shake with collagen and creatine. I do a soft Keto diet, some pasta, a slice of sourdough toast with olive oil but mostly meat and veggies. I avoid sugars other than whole fruit. No cow’s milk only coconut milk and cook with coconut oil. Avoid seed oils. During the lockdown at the beginning of the pandemic I dropped forty plus pounds. BP went from 147 to 115. I’m no longer hypoglycaemic. Never felt better
Very, very good video. I've been training for years and have been doing a lot of the tips here, but there are certainly some extra tips I've picked up. And for free! Really really appreciate you going to the effort. Good work. :)
Such a good video for newbies in the gym. Plus, adding Ultrabolan to my routine has made a noticeable difference.
He didn't need to waste our time with all the unnecessary explanations.
1.) Eat 3,000 or 4,000 calories a day. As well as 120 to 300 g of carbs a day. It's all you need.
2.) Before working out after a meal, wait for 3 hours. In that time you can drink more calories as they digest faster.
3.) Lift heavy and less reps.
Calories actually depend on metabolism and weight and protein is a major factor to 0.8/1 pound per body weight is good enough
I was waiting for some asshole to write this.

This is amazing advice
I didnt understand the 3 weeks part so onces am used lifting heavy weight which is 5 to 8 reps becomes 10 reps do make them into as my moderate reps which is 10 or 12 reps after 3 weeks ?
Great honest tips. You all better listen to him
I got so much value from this, thank you!!!
Damn 9 meals a day and waking up for a protein shake healthy diet expensive
9 meals of focused meals isnt as expensive as you thing, it's more a headache if anything
A single egg and piece of multigrain toast with just enough butter or preserves can be a meal. It's best not to eat until full, your body might dispose of some of the nutrition that way. Just enough to stave off hunger and then a little more.
It’s way cheaper than fast food. Way cheaper, just more effort
Do you want gains or just to complain ?
I have given up a few things to make the gains possible. It is becoming a way of life for me personally.
@@vincentdivita7800 thanks for reminding me of eggs and thoughtfulness. He was probably lacking necessary enzymes and nutrients for proper digestion. Too much substrate and not enough enzymes to pair up with it might just clog the system and like you said, dump essential nutrients.

Thank you for this video. New to Bodybuilding and found this very helpful
Your advice on eating contradicts what I have heard from others. What I have heard if you are not taking steroids is you can only build so much muscle so fast. I have heard others say if you are natural you want to stick to just an hour in the gym because once your muscles are chewed up a certain amount they can only rebuild so fast. You can consume 10000 calories but without steroids those incredible excess calories are wasted. What I have heard is sticking to like a 500 calorie surplus over your BMR a day and no more than 1 gram protein per pound body weight
maxstone9999 do exactly that Bro, find your own bmr, go into a 10% surplus with 1g protein per lb of BW.
You guys don't think 1 gram of protein per pound is too much?? Your body can only digest 20 grams per hour.. so if you eat a meal with 80, sorry but you're not getting 80 absorbed. Eating all day isn't healthy either. You die premature.
@@roodlyfbuts8006 I agree you could still build muscle on 0.6 to 0.8g per lb. Protein intake depends on a lot of variables specific to the individual I guess... Do u have a study or something about the 20g per hour? I wouldn't recommending eat 80g of protein in one go, but u can have more than 20g in one sitting, your body will still utilise it.
maxstone9999 dumbfuck
+Roodly F Buts, it has been debunked many times that you can only digest 20 grams of protein per meal. This is a myth often perpetuated by the supplement industry. What matters is regular protein intake. You are correct in saying that 1 gram/pound of body weight is a bit much though, studies show that .6-.8 grams per pound of body weight per day is a better metric for people trying to increase muscle mass.

I want to thank this man, he has given me some good advice. This profile pick was me 6 years ago pre covid. Started back up after some hernia surgeries last year and stumbled upon this channel by accident. I am 46 now, and with some of his advice I am getting back into this form. I look smaller in my eyes, but went from 6'5" 190lbs to 210lbs and feeling stronger thanks to some of his tips. I am not part of his challenge, and this is coming straight from the heart.
I'm torn between building muscle and going lean. Damn
Once you become leaner you'll ask for more muscles the next, Ive experience the same confusions myself once you hit the gym consistently..
kuromomutaro so what did you do?
Coriolis Effect I ended up building more muscle mass to be more aesthetically pleasing I still have a long way to go to reach my goal but Ive seen my body become more bulkier..
Why not both?
I was to I’m not fat but I’m not at 6 pack either so I decided to bulk it’s pretty enjoyable and yea
What weight training approach would you recommend for someone doing Keto OMAD?
Also, a massive thank you for everything on your channel, following your advice I've managed to lose almost 20lbs in 5 weeks, so, cheers man, wish I'd signed up to your program and not had to spend most of my evenings sifting through a load of diet websites.
This makes a lot of sense man. You have put a lot of info in a small video. This is the perfect one. I will put these to work and let you know about my transformation. Thanks man.
I barely have time to eat 4 meals day. Definitely won't have time for 9 lol
Its not about having 6-9 meals a day. Its about the macro Intake . If you can achieve the same in 3-4 meals then it is fine to have it just at that.
Big help. Reminded me what was really working during basic training 🙏
Yah no sugar :)
Muscle building tip, don't over train and plenty of recuperation time between workouts...2 or 3 days rest time per muscle group trained...
I feel it's impossible since you need arms to train every part of your body excluding core and legs
TraceguyRune it won't do harm to use your arms for other parts of the body imo
3 days is too much you only need 48 hours
Depends on your body type and how you train, different for every one...
JaeSound Beatz how old are 20, get back to me when your 45
Great information and all very true !
Why would you wake up in the middle of the night when sleep is one of the most important factors for muscle growth?
You could just be like me, and be a full blown insomniac. I hate the fact that I can't sleep much at night, but I'm usually a lot more productive during nights because of this, so you'll catch me at the gym anywhere from 10PM-2AM getting my shit in. If it works, it works. It's not the healthiest thing to do, but hey, I can't sleep anyways, so what the fuck.
Some people just naturally wake up late at night. I always have. Raid the frigg then go back to bed
I'm trying to lose weight AND build muscle at the same time. In the past I've had problems losing weight while eating carbs, so I've gone both Keto and intermittent fasting, but it is making weight lifting difficult. Should I focus on just one of the two things for now? If so, what should I do first - a high carb diet for building muscle, or a low carb high fat diet for losing weight? Any advice is appreciated.
Dread Roberts I'd say to go lean first, get your body fat % to around 11%-16% , doesn't really matter what type of diet you use, as long as it works for your body type. The only way to find what diet works out is through failure. One thing for sure tho, the inly way to lose weight is by going in a caloroe deficit. The keto diet is very powerful (probably the best) if done correctly however, if not its prettt painful.
Right now im trying to build muscle at a 14.6% body fat , but i was in a calorie deficit for over 6 months
Dread Roberts Also, it's almost impossible to lose weight and gain muscle at the same time, I've only seen this work through the keto diet when done correctly, you have to choose only one so i say go lose that excess fat first
Thank you for taking the time to respond. I assume that by saying "done correctly" you're referring to proper ratios of fat, protein, carb intake, as well as taking care of the gut with things like apple cider vinegar, bone broth, etc, and making sure to get enough water and minerals throughout the day? I try to do all of those things. I'm at 20% bodyfat, and I've lost 12 lbs in a little over two weeks (I'm in my third week) so I'm feeling very happy thus far. I'm less lethargic now with way more energy (despite fasting), and I haven't experienced any sort of Keto flu, so I guess I'm doing things right?
One last question: If I'm doing body weight exercises (push ups, pull ups, etc) and minor 25 lb kettlebell workouts, while in a calorie deficit, do I risk doing more harm then good to my muscles? It's not heavy weight training, so I thought maybe I could get a little 'noobie gains' as they say, but of course I don't want to do damage either. There's just so much conflicting information out there; it's exhausting.
Dread Roberts I don't know alot about the ketogenic diet, but from what I know I think you're doing it right, im no diet expert when it comes to the ketogenic diet so my advice is to research it bro
Calisthenics are a great way to get muscle quick and easy, but there's a limit to how much you can do
Hitting the gym is 100% more effective than working out at home
The only way to negatively affect the muscle is through overtraining
Which means you work on the same muscles without letting them recover for atleast 24 hrs
Dread Roberts so yea man, if you want faster results, hit the gym , also props for sticking eith the keto diet, even i wouldn't do something so bold
Very nice tips !!!
Bro. How many sets for each exercise?
Do 3-5 sets, or until you can't do anymore
GREAT VIDEO!!!
It does not need to be that complicated, break down the muscle feed it rest it and repeat. its just this video needs to be over 10 min to put more ads.
I actually gained the most muscle when i was hitting a body part once a weak... train to failure for each body part and then as much rest as necessary to recover, my longest workout was legs and it was 1 hour max. High intensity > short time > work to failure > nutrition and unrestricted recovery time.
I have a question.. Is building muscle also shedding fat at the same time? I know this is a beginner question but thats what I am a begginer.
And also do you count the amount of calories, fats and protiens on the food you eat?
Joram Sagandoy Building muscle and burning fat are hormonally separated. It's not an on/off switch per say but think of it as rates. so they are not they same thing.
Usually an anabolic (building) state requires a slight caloric surplus and the body goes from building to breaking down almost every day. ex: working-out vs rest. I mention you need a slight caloric surplus because if you are adding size you need to repaire the muscles you broke down by exercise and then a little more, thats referred to as adaptation to stress which is what building muscle is in essence.
I personally dont count my macros its too much hassle for me but i think its really useful to track even for a while just to get an idea of energy content per portion.
I hope this helps :)
@@AbujanDisco Thank you. It is helpful to know the difference cause I'm kinda lost to what I have to do.. Cause I'm kinda over weight right now so I'm losing fat but at the same time I want to build.. So that it would be more like when I have lost weight i also gained so that i wont do separate things like shred first then build later on when your slim kind of situation.
Joram Sagandoy I am not an expert or anything but i know that when a person has a some extra weight they are in a state of caloric surplus which means that if your body ever needs energy its there. So, if you workout with the purpose of building muscle even if you are on a diet you will probably be able to build muscle in this state. i've been there though, I lost 40 pounds 3 years ago now i am 148 pounds with low body fat. I made sure to do it slowly and consistently and never developed any extra skin. i tried fasting also.

I gotta question. When u start working out and u've been working out for like an year(for example) and u're pleased with the way u look and don't wanna grow any bigger. What do u do? Do u stick with the same workout routine and the same diet?
If you don’t want to be any bulkier then perhaps you may want to focus on losing a bit of bodyfat to really sculpt the muscles you already have.
You can also just focus on increasing your strength with strength training.
However, you definitely want to stick with the same diet/exercise regimen, or else you may lose some of the muscle you gained or increase in bodyfat. You should at least exercise/eat to maintain your current status quo.
