Tony and I rocket into marine area 4 to go after rockfish. But we're in for a BIG surprise. It's kelp greenling time, baby! #pugetsound #saltwater #bostonwhaler
I took the kayak out in front of the Clallam Bay marina during the summer and fished that kelp bed. Absolutely full of greenling and hope to do it again
The background of your opening shot has so much going on in it I had to watch it twice: the first time to listen to what you were saying and the second to look at all of the little things in the background. I loved it!
Great video, I would have been perfectly okay with this one being a regular upload. What kind of lures were you using for this kind of jigging? Looks like a weighted jig or spoon with a single hook? Would this also work for perch, etc. from a puget sound pier?
Hey John! Maybe on the perch. You'd probably want a small jig, about 1/8 once maybe. I've caught them with Berkeley gulp minnows. I'm completely spacing on the names of those jigs. They were one-ouncers... Local jigs... Might be call Sekiu or Clallam bay jigs or some such. Any small jig like that would do tho. :)
Hello Blake, my son and I love your channel! We think you have the best TH-cam channel for Northwest fishing/shellfishing/outdoors. We're in Auburn and are avid fishermen (twice a week)... Would be very cool to run into you sometime. Merry Christmas man
Yay another fish quest ! Hey Blake what did you think of fishing out of the whaler?? I’m still probably going with a 14 Lund, but I’ve also considered a whaler.
The Whaler was pretty great! The engineering on em is pretty amazing. For better or worse, it's a super shallow boat. Kind of feels like being on a motorized surfboard! Thanks Patricia!
I wonder if you could recommend any places in MA4 where I can launch small 10 feet inflatable somewhere off the road to fish for rockfish and lingcod around the kelp beds? Thinking heading there when gets warner and season opens up.
Hey, don't sell those greenlings short. They're really tasty little guys. Back in the day when it was legal, we would use small greenlings to go after big lingcod. I like this use of additional footage. What's one mans trash can also be the same man's treasure!
Thanks Corbfisher! I didn't know that was illegal now so thank you for the heads up!! Greenling are my wife's favorite eating fish that I bring home. 😎
Sorry, what I meant was that this was before there was a size limit on them. Now, anything that's of size is more worth eating or releasing, at least to me.@@WAFishQuest
Not sure if you'll get this or not. But I've been watching your videos. I've got access 25 acre beach that's private in the southhood canal. If you want to come out sometime and show me how to do gooey ducks
As long as there's a fish snapping, go for it, that's a nice boat too!
Thanks Brian! And congrats on a super successful first year of your new channel!!
@@WAFishQuest Thanks Blake! Definitely been a fun ride, especially with friends like you around to share it with!
Looks like fun. The Kelp Greenling are a tasty little fish. A day of fish and beautiful weather in October can't be beat.
Thank you David! I agree, they are very tasty.
