- On Wednesday 18th October, the UK Met Office issued a rare "Red" warning for severe weather, with their predictions for Storm Babet bringing up to 250mm of rainfall and strong winds to Aberdeen City, and to the Aberdeenshire and Angus regions of north-east Scotland.
This was taken at Stonehaven harbour, showing how wild the weather was there. Conditions are expected to worsen from 6pm onwards, and local government ordered the evacuation of hundreds of residents in Brechin.
Storm Babet presents a real danger to human life, and real risk of property damage - don't travel unless it's absolutely essential. Don't take unnecessary risks.
Stay safe, everyone.
