Accountant here. I worked for a construction company where the owners had a private jet. Here is how you do this. Have it off your books on a separate LLC company. Next lease it to yourself when you want to use it for company travel. When not in use, lease it to other people to fly. Do this and you might even be in the black with the plane.

    16. Having children. It's a liability. If you want to find out what that's like, buy a 9-year old BMW without a warranty. Stands for Breaks My Wallet for a reason. School, clothes, food, the works! I don't have kids and don't plan to unless I'm a millionaire.
    17. Marriage. Moreso the divorce. Ask JEFF. Sure he just cut his losses and he bounced right back, but most viewers aren't billionaires, let alone millionaires. Divorce can really hurt. Not just financially, but mentally. Once knew a guy who's wife went to run off with her personal trainer. She divorced him, shamed him, then he deleted himself a few days later.
If I'm to have something really expensive, I'll have either it as an asset, or an asset to pay it off.

[Jeff] Add to the list: Wedding presents from the registry that are for elegant entertainment not for day-to-day use. When my nephew got married several years ago, I reviewed the wedding registry and winced. How unrealistic! Newlyweds don't need costly elegant dinnerware and gaudy home decorations. My reaction: I went to the hardware store and bought several portable power tools and sent them instead. I never heard from the bride, but the groom was grateful and I got their new household off to a good start.

Good morning 😇 You hit great points; the pandemic was a learning experience! We worked out at home, we cooked our meals at home, we stayed at home with our family, we spent less money on clothing, and miscellaneous items; gas for our vehicles, buying a new vehicle, travel/ entertainment! If we didn’t learn how to budget and save during this time; you didn’t learn anything! just saying!

The amount spent on a wedding has an inverse correlation to the success of the marriage. In plain English: the more you spend the lower your success rate. Not true for everyone but the numbers don’t lie. Those who elope or have a civil ceremony with the justice of peace have the best chance of staying married.

As for weddings, I’ve been to two of them over the past year and a half- both were people that meant a lot to me and whose wedding I was glad to attend. In both cases the couple were touched by my generosity in the monetary gift I made, because I knew the event was costly for them and I didn’t want yo be one of those who cost them rather than brought to the table. They themselves were the in turn generous with my birthday and nameday gifts. When you’re friends with the people who are right for you, you don’t need difficult conversations, you understand each other well

00:27 🛥 Chartering yachts and private jets is more economical than owning them due to high maintenance costs.
01:24 📱 Luxury technology products often depreciate rapidly due to rapid advancements in technology, making them poor investments.
02:32 🚫 Consumption of drugs and alcohol often leads to diminishing returns and negative long-term consequences.
03:42 👶 Expensive baby clothes and gear are often unnecessary; focusing on essentials saves money and prevents waste.
04:36 💼 High-ticket business events can be more about entertainment than education; private membership groups offer more tangible benefits.
06:52 💍 Jewelry often has more emotional value than monetary value; luxury brands leverage branding to inflate prices.
08:29 🐅 Rare pets are expensive and often come with health vulnerabilities; most pets can be trained similarly regardless of breed.
09:34 💧 Expensive water is often not worth the price; regular water in reusable bottles can be just as good.
10:15 🎁 Accumulating souvenirs and unnecessary household items leads to clutter and wasted money.
11:12 🍷 Expensive bottles of wine may not offer discernible differences compared to cheaper options; pairing wine with dishes enhances dining experiences.
12:33 🏠 Property prices in certain locations may be inflated, leading to poor value for money compared to other regions.
13:28 🏋‍♂ Expensive home gym equipment often goes unused; building quality habits is more important than owning expensive gear.
15:07 🍳 Fancy kitchen appliances may not justify their high prices if they're seldom used.
16:01 💒 Attending weddings, especially expensive destination weddings, can be financially burdensome; learning to say no is important for financial well-being.
17:23 💔 Staying in a unhappy marriage for financial reasons may not be worth the sacrifice in the long run; prioritizing personal happiness is important.

I can’t right off think of anything expensive that *I* bought that wasn’t worth it, but I can talk about my mother: she bought a few pieces of showy, expensive jewelry, including a heavy gold chain with emerald cabochons on the clasp. I’m sure it was worth retail new in today’s $ maybe north of $20K. I inherited it when she died; I tried to like it but didn’t. I sold it on commission through a jewelry dealer, and received @$500 for it. Oh well. It was still free money, sort of. When she was alive, after she’d come into the $1.5 million inheritance, when she was buying some big ticket item, she’d say to me, “I’m spending your inheritance.” 🙄 I learned that if I buy some jewelry like that, I need to buy it for my own pleasure, not because it’ll be worth anything to anyone else. It won’t. P.S. Jeff.

The whole point of getting rich was to not worry about expenses. So as long as your Income is growing Passively & is more than your expenses buying useless things isn't so bad.

My appliances, kind of reflect everything now I live. 10cf frig with no door features, stove with oven, plain microwave, not convection or any other special features, small under 100.00 toaster oven and a 2 slice toaster. Since I cook for my self at home much of the time all four devices get used all the time. No other appliances, my $50 toaster oven maybe 8 years old. Microwave around 10, needed easy to replace $12 switch at 10 years old. So ya if it aint broke don't replace it. If you are not sure you will make it a regularly used item don't buy. If it is something you my need once in your life, you probably have a friend who can loan it to you.

im sort of confused bc your saying not to buy high end jewelry but wouldn't buying gold jewelry be a decent store of value in the long run?

    • @ziizee4614
      @ziizee4614 ปีที่แล้ว

It is. Please stay away from designer brand ones...you are also paying for their brand.
As long as you don't buy the ones with stones or accessories because the traders are only interested in the gold not the stone. They can't determine the cost of the stone ...at least that's the case in my country.
I had the stone on my ring removed before the ring was put on the scale to determine the cost.
Women fall back in their gold jewelry when their families are in need; which is also why they invest in them , even the out of fashion gold still sell the same as modern ones per gram.
However selling gold from a designer brand it's better to go back to them to sell them for less because going to a gold trader he would put it on scale and pay per gram. He is not interested in the designer price.

And the bonus thing that is definately not worth it.....
Premium debit, credit bank cards and savings accounts......what you invest and get in return is simply not worth it......a regular debit card will suffice...cut up the credit cards and stay out of debt and inflation is robbing you of your finances in a savings account....have enough set aside as an emergency fund as insurance to protect your investments....you don't want to have to cash in your assets when life hits you hard financially

I half agree on expensive water, it's pretty ridiculous, but the amount of crap in normal bottled or tap water is insane. I distill my water, and use the Phox water filter to re-mineralize and alkalize it. So much healthier and cleaner. It also never touches plastic, so that's a massive plus.

    • @kirdot2011

      @jamesp877 ปีที่แล้ว

@@kirdot2011 Not lucky at all, mate. You can buy a water distiller for less than £100, and the Phox water filter is about £40. Filter refills are about £15 for 3 months.

Remember that Moet is pronounced Mow-eht. Claude Moet was Dutch not French. The umlaut shows that both vowels are sounded separately. Don't show you lack of knowledge by saying Moway.

I was contemplating buying an Iphone 14 promax. In where I live it costs USD 2000. Then I found out that with the same $ I could afford SCUBA dive certificates that enables me to work in dive industry as a dive guide and potentially dive manager that would eventually buy me more Apple products in the future❤😅 So I signed up for that courses and stick with my oldie Samsung ❤ win win lol
