Hi all, so the purpose of this video is to show how much money people have spent or are willing to spend on crates. I am assuming at least 1 of these comments is a troll but who knows at this point. This video is by no means bashing anyone, in fact most of the comments are from people who have come to their senses and know that crates are just straight up awful gambling. With a new crate season upon us, things just continue to get worse. Just wanna show how much money it takes to actually get that radiant apex from the Crown Crates!

the worst part about crown crate problem is that it takes everybody to agree and stop buying crates to make a change but only a few of those whales to spend thousands on crates to still make it worth to zos and ruining it for others.
Maybe people should throw mud ball to whoever have expensive crown items. Whales buy crowns for looking good. If everyone mud balls them, they wont want to buy those items.

I've played a ton of MMO's, and literally the only dev who can get me to rage on sight is Rich Lambert.
I seriously don't understand how he has a job, because every time he opens his mouth, its a PR nightmare. Glad they made him stop streaming
ZOS is so morally corrupt, I don't know where to begin. They have now put themselves in the position of killing the monster they created with crown gifting. I know a lot of people are still playing this game, but I shake my head on how it's still financially supported.
I started playing this year. I bought the expansion, and I pay for Plus. Imo that’s as much as anyone should be spending. The crown store shouldn’t be a thing, that’s some ftp monetization crap. 90% of crown items either shouldn’t exist or should be available in-game. All those ‘rare’ mounts - if they _reaaallly_ want to push that “premium content” BS - they can sell for real money, like $20-25 USD each, instead of using predatory loot box gambling mechanics.
The fact that someone is even capable of spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on cosmetic crap is so insanely toxic for the larger community it absolutely blows my mind that they’ve gotten away with it for so long.
If it wasn’t for the lore I never would’ve installed, and playing ESO makes me feel dirty and used.

Monetization is getting waaay out of hand
Its always been like that, and if anything, its gotten worse.
I don't like the radiant mounts one bit, they really cartoonify the game,
they don't make it look like Elder Scrolls,
even the sound of them is repulsive.
What frustrates me is when they throw lore-friendly outfits on the store. Like, come on they’re just simple, elegant pieces that would be nice to have for RP but nooooo can’t have them be quest/achievement rewards, gotta pay premium for the _chance_ to get them.
Then to add insult to injury, the outfit they DO let us get in game is not only tedious to acquire, but is so ugly not even the most eccentric Telvanni would wear it!
This as well!, As a new player i saw one for the first time and when they spawned in it was like a black hole opening up and this bright neon colored beast came out and after being dazzled by the short out of left field introduction i thought "that stands out for all the wrong reasons". Now every time i see a crazy mount i feel a small tinge of pitty imaging the amount of money they spent.

Its not as bad as some of these others, but when I was younger a friend got me £50 gift card for games on christmas, and I spent just £20 or £25 on Eso because the crates had something I desperately wanted. You know the rest lol. I felt so empty and hollow after and was so upset at myself, I knew full well I would get literally nothing but brought it anyway cos I was hopeful. I never brought crates with any money I had ever again, but still to this day feel sad that I wasted half my gift on this rubbish lol.
It feels horrible even when you get what you want. It's a no-win scenario.

"You don't have to spend money" is such a cop out for shitty practices that prey on people with no self control. Is anyone making them do it? No. Can they help themselves? Also no. Which is the problem, because they know it's predatory and scummy, and they want to taker advantage of people. If they didn't want to take advantage of people the drops would be higher, the boxes would have less garbage in them and they're guarantee the drop after a certain amount to make sure people do eventually get what they actually want to pay for. Or better yet, just put the items up individually instead of taking advantage of people who can't help themselves when it comes to gambling.
I will use every piece of relevant market psychology research from the last 40 years to make people feel what's essentially a form of pain (it's the same area in the brain that's stimulated when we desire something) and release a ton of cortisol due to the stressful situation if they don't obtain my product but hey, they don't HAVE to buy it. (ok, it's not as bad as taxes used for shit I disagree with but a threat of violence by a bunch of armed people is at least honest)
They're a business. They have no incentive to take care of people with weak wills. You're by all means welcome to go nanny people that can't take care of themselves.

CC's are the reason I quit playing the game. In just a few months of playing the game, I spent at least a grand and felt guilty (single father of 4 with only one source of low income) with every penny I spent. I just couldn't help it. I'm the type of player that needs to have a certain look for my internal storyline for the character, or I won't enjoy playing. There is a lot of cool stuff in them boxes, but, I knew I wouldn't/couldn't stop spending, so I quit the game. I used to play PoE and spent way more there and quit for the same reason. I hate that my self-control is so weak with games like this, because, I really did enjoy both games. But, I'm better off w/o them. If only the cool, pay-walled, boxed stuff could be earned in game somehow...
The most fucked up part? They do this to prey on people who are addicted to gambling, everything is made to draw you in with manipulative tatics like flashy mounts and cool outfits and discount prices, but the odds of getting said item is probably lower than 1%, otherwise you would get a radiant mount every 100 crates... So the probability is around 0.01% or even lower. With that being said, don't support this shit by buying crates. They're the ones playing you for a fool, thinking about not even paying ESO+ next month since I live in Brazil and paying 54 bucks for fucking premium every month is a scam.
I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but in the more recent crates, ZOS has been bumping things have generally been in the previous tier, up a tier. Like when the fuck was a COSTUME ever in Apex tier. They are intentionally inflating the Apex and other tiers with dogshit that should be in the tier lower, so your chances to actually get the mount you want are drastically decreased without it looking like a decrease. Less outrage than if they just flat out reduced the chances and more money in their pockets.
Somehow I keep thinking ZOS has reached their max level of scummyness and they somehow manage to keep going further.
Based on my own bad RNG, I stopped recognizing radiant apex & apex rewards as being achievable. (Fortunately, the amount I spent was relatively small and limited to one experience.)
And since crown crate gifting was disabled, I stopped wanting anything from crown crates since I’ve promised myself that I’ll never buy crown crate items with my own money.
It’s okay to window shop and admire the aesthetics of these items, and if they really tickle you, you can use seals of endeavor. Otherwise, as a general rule of thumb, CROWN CRATES ARE NEVER WORTH THE MONEY.

Dude the very, VERY sad part is that a person can literally get almost everything with at least $2k-$4k (I'm talking about getting years of stuff in one go, kinda because you might have to wait for reruns but it's definitely doable like with games called PGR, Arknights, and etc) on many gacha games, hell, probably all the skins with no BS gacha. Meanwhile these dumbasses are spending $40k+ on crates and just got one Radiant, that's so sad man. I feel terrible for these people. It's so ironic that gacha games are more forgiving with pity A LOT more than ESO with their terrible loot box system, like the pity system for ESO is actually sad, 1.2k-2.5k Crown gems for just one Radiant is insane.
In general, this shit and any monetization practices should've never existed but thx to people with Skyrim when they bought the White Horse, that's when the downfall begin with the gaming industry.

I don't drop a lot of money on ESO (only + now and again), but ngl the flashy visuals and sounds used by ZOS for cosmetics and crates really does remind me strongly of slot machines in a casino, so I can see the temptation and why people do what they do.
The fault is on the consumer, it just is. It's sad some people have no self control but that's their problem. Should the rewards maybe have a little adjustment from rarity? Definitely. Should you get mad at panda express because you ate there 6 meals a day and now you have health problems? No, you did that to yourself.

The least they could do is making doubles give as many gems as that thing costs. They won't even try that because the consoomer pigs will happily buy thousands of dollars of crates.

Been playing since day#1 launch & i’m guilty too of spending too much on crowns. These past two years i’ve kept it under $500 a year but before that was $15-2000 a year! In 10 years playing i’ve probably spent at least $10k in USDA in this game. No regrets because i love the game BUT i wish I didn’t charge it on my credit card because now finances are tough & i’m still paying interest on some of those purchases🤡

i have one radiant apex mount i got from a crate twitch drop watching sawman. never bought one crown or crate in 8 years of playing. i hate predatory monetization. this may be mean, but i kinda wish Lambert gets testicular torsion. not like permanent damage, but definitely walk funny for a few weeks

Two years in the game, never ever have I spent a single penny on anything other than my subscription and DLCs (when they are on sale).
I may understand the appeal of cosmetic items, but I will never understand why anyone would spend RLM on anything that has absolutely no effect on your gameplay.
I been playing since game came out and I used my crowns from the yearly membership for crates and took a good 5 years worth to get a radiant mount. If I was to buy crowns would have been 1000 CD but was the free crowns I get. I know someone who spends every single time a new one comes out and I cant fathom that especially when they cry about being in debt XD
I got the both Red Diamond and Glowgill skins from the 2 free crates they gave away last month. That's the most lucky I'll ever get, I consider myself done with crown crates forever :D

That is a lot of money, but like you said it, you spent it on “game(s)” plural. Plus there’s a difference if you spend that money on something you know what you’re getting into. If it’s a simple exchange for a product, then that’s different from a gambling crate where you’re spending money on a chance.

This is why it isn’t a bad thing that you can buy crowns from third parties. Zos still makes money andnits more affordable for people to actually have a chance at items in crates.

10,201 hours in game and I feel like I have paid relatively little compared to others.
When I first started playing, I bought a year of premium, so that gave me a bunch of crowns.
I then used those crowns to buy the dlc's as they went on sale, so when my premium expired I still had access to the content.
I do buy the preorder deluxe edition for each new season, so there is that I guess, but I only ever bought about 30 crown crates before I realized they were just not worth it, and now that they have the endeavor seals to use, that is especially the case.
For the amount of hours of enjoyment I have had, I have spent next to nothing.

I never buy rng stuff for real money so never touched any crate. But i thik its okay the way it is as people with expendable income get some xp and potions and rarely some good stuff none of which are game breaking

when you play a game for its cosmetics you have some serious problems, my opinion. i play the game for what it is, not for what I look like. I don't see no point in looking "fancy" but doing 10k DPS at CP 2000 or not being able to understand mechanics ect. People who wanna look fancy and spend a fortune on it should play single player games without a store - you can enjoy it without wasting the cash. Same with ESO. Some good helpers are the NPCs, buy them all you are at 20k crowns equal 30kk gold which are farmed in a short period of time without playing for years when you play smart and farm the right things/resell items whatsoever - some people are just to lazy to actually ENJOY the GAME itself, they want to stand hours at undaunted base and show off their fancy new mount. No sense for me to play a game for these reasons. Also no empathy for those guys doing this, the most fancy ones are these DD's who run ahead in a dungeon pulling everything aggro not even using vigor. BuT mY WeApOn GlOwS sO fAnCy - while I look like an average NPC dealing 30% of the damage as tank. If you want this game to be a fashion war simply stop playing it because it's so much more enjoyable when you focus on the gameplay instead of how you look.

I have 32k endeavors and its growing, because all radiant mounts suck monkey balls and are low effort reskin with a cringe animation added to it. Why would anyone purcharse crown boxes with a real money is completly beyond me! :D
