So jealous of this. I’ve been trying to figure out the math and specific lenses/adapters for my fx6. I really wish I had a s16 model would make it so much easier. I’d prefer not to shoot with CIZ maxed out

Yeah the FX6 has that drawback of limited scan modes. Shame it's not more like the older FS5 with multiple scan modes.
It's not worth adapting B4-2/3" to FF you just lose way too much light from the original fast iris speed of f1.8.
There is always the potential of using a S35 PL mount ENG lens like the Canon 17-120mm and potentially using a PL FF expander. But it's a much heavier bulkier lens being made for S35. (And waaay more expensive)
If you can CIZ to a S35 sensor size, you could get away with using a 1.1x optical corrective adapter and engaging the doubler for full coverage and good image quality.
If it makes it any better I am jealous of people with the FX6 for variable ND and ability to use AF that works and tracks. Being compact and light and having TC 😅

The 6 has a s35 mode which is limited to 1080. So I could ciz another 1.5x to get near s16 coverage. I know a DP who is using the s16 scan mode on his fx9 for 1080p use with a b4 lens. His lens has an extender but the adapter does not. It just arrived so I’m stoked to see how it looks for him.

Ah sweet if the FX6 has S35 scan mode you are all good. A B4 2/3" lens with a 1.1x optical correcting adapter and using the doubler just covers and you have ~f4 equivalent level of light transmission which is still plenty usable with a modern camera.
I recommend everyone to use an optical correcting adapter if they are using a B4 lens adapted to a CMOS sensor camera. Otherwise you get really bad spherical aberrations and hazy image quality.
In the next few weeks I will be releasing a really in depth video showing image quality examples using various B4 lenses on S16 and S35, with and without doubler, and with and without optical corrector. Coverage of sensor size and close focus and macro focus modes as well.
So if that interests you keep an eye out for that video mid Feb.

Hi, could you tell us more about the modifications you had to make with the Black Magic B4 adapter ? I'm also looking for the best solution to use B4 lenses on my Sony FS7II. Thanks !

Hi Leonidas, I can't share too much as I am customising the adapters and looking to sell them in January/February 2024.
It's been a LOT of work to be able to make the conversion adapter, and I hope you understand it's hard to give out information for free that has been years of research and testing.
I will have 3 available in early 2024, and after they sell will make 3 more, then following that I can make them to order.
They will be priced somewhere around the $1000 USD price point, but that is to be confirmed once I have everything ready in 2024.

No problems, I totally understand. I might be interested in one but I live in France, do you think it would be possible to ship one all the way to France ? Thanks

@@leonidastrigger yeah posting internationally is fine. I will make a post on my Instagram as well as on this TH-cam when the units are ready early next year.

@@jamesandcamera there was another company that made the same thing a year ago or so then vanished.

@@chrisw443 that doesn't surprise me, it would be hard to make money selling such a niche lens adapter.
