If Tucker had wanted to he could have been as big as The Beatles he just didn't want it enough. But the world's loss was Liverpool's gain. He was simply the best and one of the nicest people ever. I followed him from my birth in 1978 as he was friends with my nan and grandad. I saw him a few weeks before he passed to tell him I had cancer. I was so pleased I got to see him 1 last time, it was meant to be. My son even seen him through the window of one of the bars so my family had 4 generations see Cy Tucker. RIP the best in the land.
We used to go and see Cy and the band in Coopers whenever we were back in Liverpool. Superb band with great humour and talent. I first saw Earl Preston and The TTs at a dance school on Aigburth Road that had gigs on occasional weekends. I was still at school (Tokky Tek) then.
Many years ago back in the early 60s I saw and heard Cy Tucker sing "My prayer" on BBC TV , I have no idea what program it was but he was singing without a group, as far as I remember. The song has stayed in my memory ever since as one of the best ever versions, the old footage of him singing with /as Earl Preston & the TTs is OK but not as good as the version I remember. Nice to have re-discovered him all these years after and glad he is still singing . Well done Cy !
Hi Tucker, .... and hundreds of other remember you from our soirées at Les and Tricia's Coopers Emporium and The Manor at Edge Hill, The 'Big House' on Lime Street. It was such a privilege to know artistes like you, Gary Potter, Charlie Landsborough, John Cordwell. I was the Atlantic's 'resident poet' and was very successful. I then retired and moved to Spain, married, settled down if people like us can do such a thing. The period re-generated my 'gifts' as a poet. Here is a poem that I penned at that time, which is now doing very well. Best wishes, my good and talented friend. Mike (Walsh). The Oldest Love Letter....Poetry by Michael Walsh
Hey Tucker, every country I travel to I always open the internet and show people my mate in Liverpool. Everyone agrees that you are a great singer and I agree too. I have to say though that of all the countries and places I have been over the last 37 years, our time in Swansea in 1974 (sunburn and all) was one of the greatest times. ( Remember Denny? or as you called him "wreck the furniture") Keep it up mate, hope to see you soon. Best Wishes. Peter Walker. Uzbekistan. Jan 2013.
Am sure me and some mates use to listen to this guy on stage live, down some back street pub off high street Wavertree liverpool back in the mid 1980s.
Will have been the Town Hall. He used to sing there in the 80s. I spent many of my early years in there on a Sunday afternoon playing the bar tray with 2 pens as my drum, drumming along to Les. I always wanted, when I was grown up to play drums for Tucker just once. Never got to happen though unfortunately.
been watching "tucker" for over 40 years still the best in the business along with me old mate "Arthur" the lads that are in the band now are great I remember les and denny the in the old days and of course davy royal the "BIG HOUSE" is great apart from the "PRICES" otherwise I would be there every week
I remember Les and Denny too and little Dave who took over from Denny on base. Davy Royal was class seen him in Benidorm several times. Always started with Black is Black.
1:16 The band Tucker fronted before joining The TT’s in 1961 was called ‘CY AND THE CIMARRONS’. I have no idea why he’s saying Jack Baverstock gave him the name ‘Cy’ considering they met two years after he left Cy And The Cimarrons
What a lovely down to earth, humble, talented man Tucker was.🙏 sadly missed🥲🥲
