My mom went through this when she was a little girl. My grandpa would hold her and her little brother and my grandma at gunpoint. Luckily he didn't kill them. When she told me this as I got older I couldn't believe it because for some reason she still had love for him and he was always so kind to me. But about a year before my dad basically drank himself to death a few years ago he did the same to me. He even pulled the trigger. Idk if it was loaded or not. And the worst part was I had a wonderful upbringing as a child my dad and I were thick as thieves. And when he started drinking after retirement he turned into a whole different person. I still love him.. and miss him every single day I tell myself that wasn't my dad who did the awful things he did his last year of life

Much, much farther down the road her daughter will be a blessing in bringing more love and happiness into her life. She doesn’t know it now but when the time comes, she’ll be more careful in picking someone to love and build a life with. A good man to love and marry her for love, a kind, strong, gentle man with a good heart for her to have a good life. With a good marriage her daughter could bring much happiness into their life’s. Her daughter and new son in law could bring her mother sweetness of life by having children of their own, which will bring much love to her mother as a grandmother. Grandchildren are such a different love, they would bring much joy to a broken heart. They give a new beginning. With God’s blessing and guidance as their life will be good for them. Much happiness will come back. The little boys are in the arms of Jesus and family, friends. Their home with the father, but they will know the happiness a life with little ones in it again, will be happy for their mom and step sister to find the happiness of love again.✝️

This case is so deeply disturbing and heartbreaking. I haven't felt right since I heard about it. It replays over and over in my mind. I'm a domestic violence survivor and my son's father was a violent narcissistic abuser and an alcoholic, so I can relate to what the mother was going through. When I was a teenager, I lived on Ireton Trees Road, which is about 3 minutes' drive from where the murders happened. For 5 years I lived out there and I graduated from New Richmond HS and that has made it even harder to deal with this in my mind. The whole world is devastated from this horrific crime, and I've been praying for the mom and the family. I think every narcissist has the potential to be violent and dangerous. If you're reading this and you're in a relationship with someone that you think is a narcissist and they're abusing you, PLEASE leave them when it's safe to do so and get a protection order against them. @@spinetingler-op6stNarcissists are superficially charming, until they have caught their “prey”, which is the only way you can describe the way they find a partner. After the partner is in a marriage, a game of attraction and rejection starts, which leaves the partner confused, but also keeps them hooked like a drug, “scoring” those moments of attraction. Narcissists choose their victims carefully; they have a nose for vulnerable people, who often come from a situation of (physical or mental) abuse or neglect.
I knew a woman who had been in a narcissistic marriage. Her younger brother committed suicede at sixteen, because a car accident left him disabled. Because she’s a vulnerable, insecure person and she and her brother were very close, this hit her very hard. The narcissist was very charming, but he only managed to keep up the pretence until they went home after the wedding reception.
After their divorce her ex manipulated child protection into believing the woman was a danger to herself and their child, so they helped him take the child from her. She, unfortunately, fell under the spell of another narcissist playing the attract-and-reject game. Fortunately he moved away from the area. But she’ll fall for the next one, should one come along.

I had the same theory as you when I heard the Mom and stepdaughter were left alive. I was married to a man with anti social personality disorder. I didn't know it at the time I met him but found out all too soon. He would threaten to kill me and my daughter if I tried to leave. If he was triggered he acted out in rage as well. The neighbor heard Doerman yelling at his wife and the kids a lot. She was probably fed up and going to leave him so her punishment was to kill what she valued most and watch her suffer. Just as you stated. After I got away from my abuser I volunteered in a women's shelter and so many women have the same story. Fortunately most get out without losing their kids or dying by getting to the safety of the shelter. You are correct there must be many of this type of abuser out there. Women need to be careful to see the warning signs in relationships because the real personality will show itself the fake mask will begin to crack. Get out while you still can.
