I saw David Wilcox in London, Ontario, Canada at The London Music Hall, April 29, 2022. Standing room only, packed, and he lit up the crowd! The roof must be reinforced! lol He rocked and entertained just as hard as he does here. Legend!!
Just an absolutely brilliant player. Too bad he never got the kind of recognition he deserved. He was a bit of a wild man back in his day. Now he's a kinder, gentler guy, but it isn't the same David Wilcox as we knew and loved back in the 80s. This tune is my favorite of all his songs. Thanks for sharing!
There's an important lesson for young people that this video teaches very well: If you want to connect with your audience and draw them in, you have to show them that you enjoy performing. Wilcox does this very well.
Got to see Mr Wilcox in various venues many times over the years. Enjoyed every one of them. It was his signature straight forward music, loud, punchy and satisfying to the audience sound emanating from the stacks. We all know how David makes the faces and his eyeballs roll around when he is in the midst of his playing...a fantastic representation of his genuine ability to feel and deliver, with no care to what we think it looks like, or what we might say about it. One time, while very close to the stage and looking at him play and do his eye and head rolls along with the facial contorts, he looked at me and realized I was focusing on that part of the show. Laughing as I was and embarrassed to have been caught doing that, he stared at me in acknowledgement and then gave a very warm smile. Kind of like to say, “I know....and it’s okay...enjoy the show.” What a great guy. You’re the coolest...thank you David.🤙🤙🙂
reminder of Lundy's Lane in the Falls, and lake front in Burlington. One of the better parties in in the '80s. What a great rock and roll tune. Dave rocks !!
David is playin Canal days this friday July 30 in Port Colborne. Can't wait to see him. Have seen him about 10 times and he just rock the shit out of that old Tele. Abolutely nobody plays like him and when he's gone there will be no other.
The TeleMaster! Guy's awesome and always has been. Saw him with Downchilds, Dan Akroyd, and Paul Shaeffer on the street in Toronto in June for the Jazz Festival.
Sew him in the "Road Hause" long time ago - unforgettable. ! Absolutely Great Personality. Never get more Fun before like at this performance. Kind of I got too much beer that time but he is the Great anyway. :)
Makes me home sick now...live in NY, and wanna come back to Toque town eh!!! I will never love another Country more than CANADA!!!! I am a true hose head eh!!
That's what I love about his live stuff he always does it different you listen to this and go watch another live set of this song and it will be different
Just found out he's playing the Salmon Arm music festival on August 16/17 - you bet I will be there - with my good friend of 20 yrs who is prob one of his biggest fans - can't wait! ;.)
2006 I lived at Main n Danny and each night I had to take my wee fella George he was 3 for a walk around midnight we would usually run into Dave and his friend and he'd say hi and George would say Hi Dave , very nice guy , I seen him play at Centennial College on Warden ave back in the mid '80,s I was ten feet from him What a Show . . ..
When someone’s grandfather is far far cooler than anyone making “music” these days. I would give David years off my life if I could just so more people could experience him.
He's in Open G (DGDGBD). Lately he often tunes his guitar 1 semitone flat, so it will sound like Gflat. (See my post from 5 months ago). WILCOX ROCKS!!!!
aha wilcox is the man i seen him and kim michele's live in collingwood a couple years back ahah the weed and booze went around there like crazy ahah best consert ever lol
I've always the loved the man. He's a crazy-ass, drunk canadian guitar hero. (though I heard he's been off the sauce for a while now) He looks a mad monk now that he's without hair. Very good at what he does. I've seen him live (early 90's), one of the loudest and BEST shows I have ever witnessed. I wish I recording music at the time, I would have done so. Wont make that mistake again.
Met him at a free show in Turkey Point on Lake Erie (May 24 weekend) about ten years ago. A buddy and I bum rushed the stage holding out our hands. Wilcox wave off security and shook our hands. Ended up having a couple beers later. Highlight of that year. Great musician, too much blow though... His eyes are about five inches out of his head now...
When I was a kid I would sing Hypnotizin' Booger! You Canadians sure know how to rock!
