I LOVE this! Everything except your comment that debates show "no fruit there." We are called to be apologists and there are very successful evangelists who appeal to knowledge and can answer people's questions. It might not be for you, but I have seen lots of people come to Christ through getting hard questions answered. Granted, you get hecklers too, but I think we all have our unique styles and God also stretches us to move OUTSIDE of those comfortable styles to reach all different types of people. Be open that God might call you to evangelize differently :) Bless you!
You said two different things. On one hand you said you are gonna trust the other person stylistically and on the other hand you condemned the men you went with in Dallas for not doing it the way you would. Which is it?
The way the dude in Dallas did it was innapropriate because it lead to argumentation, not a conversation where it could lead to sharing a testimony and The Gospel. There is a way to tell people they are going to hell IN LOVE where people can tell that you don't want that for them. Romans 2:4 ... the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance
