I suspect that most of his problems are a result of what passes for player development in the Angels organization. There's a reasonable chance he'll turn it around the instant he finds his way to a remotely competent organization.
I was actually at the Braves game and from what I remember first base coach also thought it got past third baseman and told him to go two. Also to note I fucking love Jo adell .
In the series against CWS when we were tryingfor the most losses record, LAA gifted us three conaecutive wins by being trash at baserunning. I mean, truly.
I know there are people in the comments defending him and saying it's more likely a product of the Angels' (admittedly awful) organization why he's been so unproductive to this point, but I'm ready to call it. Jo Adell is the modern-day Ruben Rivera. Adell has all the natural talent in the world, but he doesn't have the desire or brains needed to be a productive big-leaguer. Guys with that much talent can look good against lesser competition without caring about or understanding the game, but even superior talent alone isn't enough against the best players on the planet. It doesn't matter where he goes or what coach gets ahold of him; he'll never get any better unless he starts to pay attention to detail much better than he has to this point.
The Angels should sell while they can. Maybe another organization thinks they can "fix him." Look for the Angels to move him (or attempt to) at the trade deadline if they become sellers.
Victor Robles trying to steal home with the bases loaded 2 outs and a 3-0 count to Justin Turner after the pitcher had thrown 7 straight balls takes the cake for me. To add insult to injury he got hurt on the play
🤔... Someone badly needs a Larry Bowa type coach in his life, a staunch disciplinarian who absolutely won't put up with none of that kindly BS. Hopefully he finds his LB type coach, cause he's obviously a multi tooled player with a ton of potential.
He can't stay focused. Can't tell you how many times he'd make running catch but forget that there's runners on base and they advance or even score. Same with baserunning, its like he forgets wht he's supposed to be doing. He'll probably get traded to a contender and suddenly be all-star caliber once he gets that chip on his shoulder
it is not routine because had he ran in a straight line he would have beaten the the throw. He decides to to foolish run at an angle at a slow speed and gets thrown out
You say the second isnworse than the first, but Ixmean, on the second one its as simple as not seeing it correctly. He thought it went through. It didnt. On the first one, I have no justification. You're always sliding on that.
That type of inconsistency heavily points to a guy with a lot of talent that is being absolutely ruined by horrible coaching. No one has taught him how to have good decision making and baseball fundamentals.

No, he's just a really dumb black guy. Many such cases. These are mistakes a 12 year old wouldn't make.
Im rooting for the guy which means somehow he’ll be an all star if he leaves the angels
Not if he goes to the White Sox.

You know ohtani is happy he isn’t on the angels anymore
Surprised it wasn’t Gleyber from the Yankees.
The guy has been playing baseball since he was a kid. He should know better. Absolutely no excuse.

As a Padres, hearing the name "Ruben Rivera" gives me PTSD.

100%
did someone give him the signal to steal or did he do it on his own?
I'ma say that first one was dumber. Lazy as steal.
Not lazier than your grammar, though.
@yamez75 they picked on you in school didn't they?
I was at that game vs the Braves, I was completely bewildered
Was expecting Julio Rodriguez from late September
I was expecting that too
Remember when Jo Addell was like the hottest prospect. The Angels on paper were supposed to be a juggernaut. Rendon, Trout, Ohtani, and Addell. Damn.
Gotta respect a guy who banana turns into first on infield grounders, and steals second base standing up. He is playing his own version of the game.
The entire mariners roster: hold our beers
The first one looks like he thought it was ball four. Still doesn't explain going through the bag.
Adell should’ve been traded instead of Brandon Marsh.
Both need to go. Marsh was cringe
"What do you guys think he was thinking?"
He wasn't. That's the problem.
the second wasnt stupid, he was trusting his first base coach
Yeah, curious what happened here
Fool runs to second base like it's first base, then runs to first base like it's second base.
Julio Rodriguez: hold my beer
Something tells me it's the Angels inability to develop him more than just head cramps.
Victor Robles: hold my beer
My guess is he just doesn’t think. Which can be great when trained to react appropriately but can be deadly pretty much any other time
You should check out Garrett Hampson's base running 😂

With some good coaching the guy has potential.
He's confused but he's got spirit
0:18 How? He had a great jump and the pitcher took a month to deliver. How does he get sniped?
He was such a liability on the bases, especially in the early part of the season
The first one looks like he thought it was a foul ball. Wonder if the defense deked him on that.
Me not so smarrtt…
Even Gleyber Torres wouldn't do that
It could be that he's pressing because he has a tenuous hold on a roster spot and is trying to make game breaking plays out of nothing.

That’s what the first base coach is for. The watch the ball, you take off, look up, and they yell 2 or run thru. Wtf
2:00 did he not have a 1st base coach? He could have just looked at him. That's kinda what the base coaches are for.
Some guys just don't have baseball instincts.
Felix Pie comes to mind. Great athlete, terrible baseball player.
How was the second one not just a routine put out at first? The first baseman caught the throw and stepped on the bag ahead of adell
it… was
it is not routine because had he ran in a straight line he would have beaten the the throw. He decides to to foolish run at an angle at a slow speed and gets thrown out
He wouldn't have beaten the throw in clip two. It's not like he did a giant banana path....he barely was on the grass....
Both are understandable and players compete in 150 plus games a season.
If his OPS and fielding is that bad why is he playing. Why is he starting? What is wrong the Angels?
The Yankees should sign him. Lots of talent. Low on fundamentals.
You say the second isnworse than the first, but Ixmean, on the second one its as simple as not seeing it correctly. He thought it went through. It didnt.

Temu Teoscar
Definitely dumb ass he cost them a few games
lets be real, its the angels, none of it really mattered either way
Speed doesn't make you smart.
I've seen worst this season, but he just part of the angels and people like to make fun of the angels.
