One of the things I love doing when just playing around with MuseScore is to see how ridiculously and suffocatingly tight I can get the spacing while still keeping the music legible. IIRC, Spacing Ratio = 1.3, Min note distance=0, shortening ledger lines and setting the whole score's stretch to 0 creates anxiety-inducing tight spacing. (MuseScore is actually really good at doing tight spacing...) PS - In my MS4, the spacing settings is under Format > Style > Bar (not Measure)? Guess this is some locale-specific thing MuseScore does?
If you mean you want the staff the same size but the lines themselves thicker, see Format / Style / Score, the staff line thickness setting. If you mean you want bigger staves, increase the staff space in Format / Page settings.
Informal chat is the whole point of the Café series :-). If you're looking for more focused instruction, see my online course Mastering MuseScore 4 (see link in description for more info)
Hi! These “MuseScore Café” videos are not intended as quick solutions, but as in depth explorations of a topic. For quick solutions, see my “Tip of the Week” series, or my full “Mastering MuseScore 4” course, which is divided into dozens of highly focused videos cover each feature of the program one by one.
I learned a ton in this video. I LOVE the shortcuts. Thank you.

It's a UK/US difference - bar/measure, stave/staff, maybe one or two others.
It was a pretty interesting session about Formatting. Though would formatting also be considering engraving too?
Yes, anything that has to do with how the music looks on the page is part of what is meant by "engraving".
how do you make the lines of a staff wider?
If you mean you want the staff the same size but the lines themselves thicker, see Format / Style / Score, the staff line thickness setting. If you mean you want bigger staves, increase the staff space in Format / Page settings.
Good job, thanks. Too much repeat talking though
too much talking
