A WONDERFUL symphony. It's tragic that he died too young. Vasily Kalinnikov may very likely have been one the great composers of the twentieth century, had he lived. This resounds my love for Russian Composers. BRAVO
p.s. i am a stickler for interpreting music as a composer wrote it. however, in two ceses recently, i have modified my view. one is the version of this orchestra. listen to the end of the 4th movement for the marcelous use of tubular bells. the other, btw, is a version of saint-sean's 'dance macabre' by a polish academic orchestra. nothing like how s.s. orchestrated it, but wowwww. just amazing. do listen to it
The tubular bells at the end of the last movement: our local orchestra performed this work without the bells. Our conductor says the bells are not included in the orchestral score. Did Maestro Verbitsky add them? (they sound great).
Love it! I can see and hear why the concert master was chosen. I need to practice more! Thanks for the inspiration
この交響曲は本当に素晴らしいですね。
弦楽器の美しい響きと管楽器が高らかに歌う終盤は何度聴いても感動します。
This performance of this great symphony shows a wonderful clarity and commitment. I greatly admire this conductor's interpretation!
A very underrated composer - deserves much more attention by US orchestras, The 2nd movt is
serene, blissful!

@@brucemiller5356you mean the one with mallets, vibraphone etc? 👍👍
Such a great symphony, it's a pity that it's lesser known than other Russian composers of the same epoch. Thank you for playing it!
Im surprised I have never listened to this composer. Very beautifull composition.
Прекрасный, чуткий дирижёр, Владимир ВЕРБИТСКИЙ! Замечательный оркестр! И исключительно одарённый русский композитор -- Василий КАЛИННИКОВ!!

Why did the conductor add tubular bells in the end?
All you who think this is a great symphony should have to play it once...

Too slow at the beginning
