Just got the 30 day trial and I am loving this software
My favorite slider tools right away; are soft contrast and dynamic brightness

Thanks for this. I will have to dabble with black and white pictures.

Amazing presentation. I must say, though, second photograph, I like the initial picture the way it was.

DXO have butchered this version release. The control points have lost the function of editing on the pic, now you have go back to the control panel on the right. In a darkroom you control over the print. It's a ridiculous setup change. Save your money because all you get really is the dark mode and silly control points. I have reinstalled Nik 3.0

my version of the software looks wholly different than yours (as tends to happen) Couldn't read your sliders at all looked like blurry Hebrew or something, I did pick up the broad strokes thanks

Agree with previous comment. The control point function is screwed up.

The zone system was created by Ansel Adams and other photographers........Who, besides Fred Archer were the other photographers?

This could be the stupidest question of the year: Does the zone system apply to portrait photography as well?

As far as I know, the zone system applies to all black and white photography. I do use it in Silver Efex Pro 3 to especially monitor how far I'm pushing highlights and shadows and it's also useful for all your midtones. I also frequently use one of the colored filters depending on how it enhances my image.

Zone system is a tool for placing the exposure as the photographer wishes. You can apply it to any branch of photography even colour.

Is it a stupid question? NO! That said, it can be tricky, as when we think of using the zone system, we immediately think of landscape shots and pictures of buildings. And when we did portrait pictures in the analogue days, we used roll film, difficult to center on a frame. It does work for portraits, and it is a good question.

I don't know why he's always putting the subject dead center of his photos. Basic composition...

Very good video but should be two videos, a lot shorter. All of the DXO videos are good but way, way too long.
