Chilly reception is one of the best moves Pokemon has ever created.they made a move based in Slowking's "I could really use a pair of pants" line fro Pokemon the Movie 2000 and it's fantastic. It's also an incredibly good move competitively.
7:06 Slowking resists both Keldeo’s STABS, but Jellicent is entirely immune to both of them and also heals from water, plus has equally as impressive special bulk
@ No, but it can burn keldeo with wisp, completely ruining it, and recover off all damage keldeo could do to it. I do see your point though, they’re both solid checks. I really like jellicent because it can also spinblock and combines burn chip with weather chip.
I haven't played any of these modern, Switch, Pokemon games yet but it surprises me how much of a glow-up the gen 2 cast has had. You have this generation of new Pokemon that are for all intents and purposes treated as the bonuses of Gen 1 that didn't make it to the debut, but wouldn't likely be staying because according to the devs at the time this whole pocket monster thing was a fad that wouldn't become a global, long surviving franchise. Several became gen 2 ambassadors in the next titles because of how far in the game you had to get them, and Tyranitar and Skarmory essentially traded places and/or are still debated as the strongest pokemon in Advance OU. The rest of the cast were just as rare but never really relevant due to be outshined or just middling (Misdreavus, Ursaring, Donphan). Now even a side evolution that was always seen as kind of worse than it's Gen 1 counterpart is doing better than it in the far distance future - the King has returned. I'm half happy and half disappointed. On the one hand people actually using gen 2 Pokemon is great because I liked allot of their designs. On the other hand it so far has always involved drastically changing how they function and look to gain any interest. They almost feel like completely different Pokemon than the ones I knew. And yeah most people don't like gen 2 and you'd be hard pressed to not mostly use Gen 1 Pokemon with how they set up the game... but I kind of like the idea of a gen 2 roster that is supported like it's own generation, not just the sloppy seconds of the boom era. It's why I liked Smithplays hack so much.
I used slowking and tangrowth as part of my defensive core on my first serious competitive team. Regenerator plus their bulk, and type synergy was fantastic.

Slowbro and Slowking are actually kind of amazing in Competitive Pokemon
This duo are reffered to as the slow twins in the community
And even though they aren't in the same level of competitive excellence as pokemon like Landorus-Therian or Ferrothorn, they have aged incredibly well for the most part. And have received some really good buffs and new forms over the years

I'm glad they have because I quite like these Pokemon. Slowbro received its mega from in Gen 7 (6 actually but ehh) , and both of the galarian regional forms in Gen 8
I like the respective lore but let’s be honest…. Slowking should have been the 3rd, final evolution.
