They buffed Sonic in the right places, by making him less dependent on spamming Special moves & focused on dealing damage reliably. His smash attacks are all good now.

A little late on the response the up b is using a “b-reverse” input. By quickly changing the direction of your stick to the opposite direction you are facing right after making your b move input, you can turn around during nearly every b move. This is crucial to recovery with some characters, and opens up Sonic to extensions such as the one in this video
THIS, is how you play Sonic optimally, don't let those campy nerds tell you otherwise. Playing like this stays true to his character and personality anyways. ROCK THE PLACE
