It is a damn shame this property has been abandoned. The original owners worked too hard for all their stuff to just sit there or be fought over. I would absolutely love to know the full history of this property. I hope the remaining family can come to an agreement soon or everything will be worthless. This house is too beautiful to just let it sit, hopefully someone can restore it and enjoy it for another 100 years and make more memories and add to its already rich history. It's sad to see everything left behind. I absolutely loved this home and all it's belongings, I could spend all day in there and still not see everything so I appreciate the longer videos. You boys and Bros of Decay find the most exquisite abandoned homes.

Do you mean the best used by date on the liquid nourishment? He passed over most of the spectacular cut crystal, expensive and intricate china, as well as those magnificent vases. But we got to see manky shoes inside a closet with clear detail. Not to mention them freaking out whenever they went near spiders webs, lol. I believe they need to get better at the details of what's actually important about these fantastic old homes. I think I'll come back in a year when they know what they're doing.

So nice to see the respect given to the items and anonymity of location. I so hope all pieces are protected and distributed asap for the item's safety.and preservation.The heater cabinet was not for coals, but for warming sheets and towels. 😊

Hi guys! 19:10, the scissors are to put out the candles. 28:11, it is to put the food to keep it warm. 33:15, Polaroid instant camera, you could have your picture straight from the camera. Nice song from David Silvian with his band Japan, the song is called: Gentleman Take Polaroids (when they fall in love), figure out why. 36:25, a square piano it is called. 41:50, it seems the mansion has been refurbished in the late 60's or beginning 70's. Typical modern tiles from that era. It makes now sense to me, as some classical furniture are also made around that time, and the place is not 'uniformly furnished, but more of a bit of everything. Does the family name matches with the heraldic signs? 43:15, it has a label, but haven't been taken out as it is a 1960's modern classic chique chandelier. Those chrystal ones downstairs are seriously expensive. 45:50, the British call the French 'Froggies' as they eat frogs (you are what thou eat, like English London Tower wards also called Beefeaters). 1:00 Banderillas, used for bullfights. 10:03.30. German soldiers gear, the tube was to carry the gas mask. Most probably WWI, as the WWII had some strips. The mask shape is from the tin holder. www.thingsmilitary.com/field-equipment/wwi-german-gas-mask-can-strap/ 1:04.05, Greek or Roman tax collector? (time is money!) 1:05:05, nope, it is the mother in law false teeth :P. 1:05:58, the bed matches the age of the mansion, it is called 'Empire' because of Bonaparte. A lot of brass was used to make accentuation's on the design. There was also one of this kind downstairs. After Empire came Biedermeier, called Willem III in NL design, a bit different. 1:06:20, fake decoration, like the historical souvenir sword, with the point made safe with a ball, and not sharp, later there were two florets, used for fencing (schermen in NL) like the three Musketeers.1:07:22, real sword, fake knights iron glove (once i had a complete knights armour, fake as it was not antique, but made exactly as they used to be). 1:07:28, the souvenir sword. 1:13:55, it seems this is a ceremonial or signal cannon that can shoot if it has a little hole above on the back for the wick or flint, and it does seemingly, now, next time stick a stick inside the barrel to measure the depth, or shine the lamp inside and make sure the wick-hole is clear, you'll see light shining through, then it shoots, be sure of it, weapon laws were different in the old days.. 1:14:37, what kills me are large mansions made in 15 minutes video's, such a disgrace! You are doing the right thing. Great job! Thou, you forgot a door or two in the hall, maybe storage doors. 1:15:21, there is no architects drawing table. (priceless tables when vintage!) 1:18:35, another Empire style bed, kind of Cleopatra model. 1:21:11, 100% flute, shepherds flute maybe. I loved this video, thank you guys.

The yeoman warders at the tower of London are not called beefeaters because they eat beef. Back in the medieval times, they used to guard the “buffets” which were side tables that gold and silver plate were displayed on so royalty could show off their wealth. Therefore they were called “buffeteers”. and it’s been changed to beefeaters.

Some people, in these modern days, can be too impatient. The instant gratification demanded by society has led to many being almost incapable of enjoying life in a leisurely manner. But as for me, taking the time to capture this place completely, is just another way of paying respect to the family who lived here. I would enjoy longer investigations that you choose to present. Living or staying in a small apartment, or small house , after growing in something so hugh and grand as this, I think I would feel as if I were in a cage.These place are so large and hung, tall ceiling , hugh, high doors , totally awesome, thanks as always, and for all the respect for the many things left behind.

I so enjoy watching you guys explore these places and the respect you give to them all. Wish I were 50 yrs. younger and had plenty of money as I would do the same thing. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet but the white water heater, the "radiator" with the doors and some selves inside was used to heat up quilts for a nice warm transition to bed. 😀
Ty for that info. I figured it was just a way to make a radiator not stand out so much in a room, to kind of pretty it up. Pretty cool to learn it's actual purpose.
Some were used to heat food.
These homes need to be preserved at all costs.

If I were an owner, I would not really be too upset at you for the video you made as you are so respectful and appreciate the historical value of every detail. For me, it is the first time I can watch without feeling guilty that someone has broken and entered with rude intentions. You are not thieves and that makes the difference! The lamps of the little girls were Shirley Temple lamps. In the 1930's they were popular. LOVE your videos. Love the detail, don't worry about the length. If we are watching, we want to see all the little details as we cannot go there but in our dreams. I am old, and unwell but love to travel, and now I can with you. Hi guys I'm writing from Michigan City Indiana here in the United States. I just caught this episode and took the walk with you as you toured this gorgeous manor. You found an old heating gas radiator with two doors there within a room and if my memory serves me correctly those were used to put crockery in to have food heated if you needed to be out for a bit. You could put food in to cook and maybe go out for a visit or possibly to work and your food would be kept warm. Also if within a bathroom they could heat towels or a blanket for a few minutes for bed. They could have many more uses but I've only read about them being used for food and possibly linens. I've truly enjoyed watching your videos and I will certainly be watching for more. Your accents are so beautiful and you both are so sweet and charming and your mother's should be very proud. The way you were so respectful of every item and careful to preserve each room you entered. I've enjoyed this tour with you greatly. Stay blessed and safe and I'm looking forward to more videos.

A professional decorator with great knowledge of French decor decorated this place. Beautiful artwork and some antiques. Amazing that they just abandon places like this. Even though it is decorated in a very traditional and old way it is beautiful. If it were my family home I would never leave it behind with no one repairing leaks.
Apparently most of the roof is still good and many of the windows are intact because there is very little deterioration going on in that building except in that one area of the house. It looks like an area of the house that had been remodeled at one time that is in the worst shape. I like how they kept the very old fire place in the kitchen! They must have burned wood in there once upon a time. Even the beautiful wool Oriental carpeting is still in lovely condition. Those rugs need to be removed soon in order to save them. I hope you closed the window up tightly that you entered and exited that place from. Weather is the major killer of buildings. What a shame that the owners did not leave a detailed will concerning who would inherit. Maybe the family just does not care about the place.
The outside of the house is deteriorating so it is not going to remain sound for very much longer. There should be someone, a family member or a lawyer, in charge of maintaining the house until matters are settled. Money from the estate should be used to make repairs.
The fur coats were not of the very expensive type but would have been very warm. Years ago they did not have all of the synthetic/fake fabrics that clothing is made out of today. They used mostly cotton, wool, and linen, along with leather and animal fur to make clothing back then. I actually prefer natural fibers like cotton and wool. Cotton is cool in the summer and wool is so very warm in the winter time! The skin and fur from animals are very warm and they keep the wind and the rain and snow from chilling the body.
They do not put worthless books in cabinets like that. Some were probably first additions. I do believe that the little cannon had been used in the past....probably not for war but some kind of symbolic ceremony.
Whoever decorated this place was an expert on French decor. The people who lived there apparently loved the finer things of France.
I find myself becoming angry while watching this. How could such an incredible home be abandoned? I would have never let that happen that is literally the most gorgeous home I have ever seen. I would go down with the home. What a literal dream. I want it.
what happens to relatives not claiming it? it is wrong that there is no one to preserve the history we see here. maybe there were no children to inherit all of this? and what of a government that sees no value?
Imagine, if this was left behind, what did they take with them????

It seems they took nothing with them, at least it would be hard to imagine that somebody would own even more stuff than there is present inside of this property. You are very welcome. This is so very beautiful and yet sad. The beautifully furnished rooms look as though they have been there a very long time. I just feel whoever lived there last were not the people who furnished this mansion. It really is not in bad condition . I hope the beautiful mansion will be loved again.

Such a gorgeous mansion! I'm not sure if this is how they do it in France, but the stickers in the furniture and antiques look like someone was cataloging them, possibly for insurance purposes or auction. something may have happened (inheritance or ownership dispute?) to prevent them from removing the items from the mansion. I do hope they are eventually saved. I love the fact that you took the time to explore and share, I didn't mind that it was over an hour. Great find, guys!
Thank you very much Patricia! The stickers could have been for an auction, but in France it is rather common that the inheritance of this place has not met an agreement about the shares yet. They are still disputing about who gets what, and their names will be written on the divided belongings. Also appreciate you sharing your opinion about the time-length of the video. In New Zealand old people often put stickers on items they want different family members to have. I know my mother in law did.
One of the problems with everyone saying that they respect people's property is the fact that someone owns this property. The person may live in a care facility, and or could have died with or without a will. The executor is rounding heirs of said property
If you are so respectful why then do you handle every single piece of antique, pictures,books, things that need to be conserved not touched by some moronic, idiotic, house burglar.
Burglary is defined as entry into a building even through open doors. If you break in it becomes, breaking and entering with the intent to burglarize. Don't have to steal anything.Some of you people are ignorant.
Burglary and B I are both felonies in the USA....they are not abandoned.
Personially I feel they tried an online actionand things didn't sel this house should. Be turned into a museum enough should be sold to fix the roof and interior. To find owner go tax office
The painted cabinet in that wonderful room is incredible. I pray someone who owns the place will go in and rescue all those beautiful antiques, especially that special cabinet. Thank you guys for showing this and for being so respectful. This is my favorite place so far of your travels.

That´s HERE a classical noble family mansion with all the traditional settings of rooms for family members, for guests and for service personal which was also very large to keep this building and garden around nice and clean ! THANK YOU!

Love this video! That one white radiator that had that extra opening I believe was a bread warmer - usually found in dining areas - to keep bread warm. I’ve also heard they were used to place wet shoes and other small items that needed quick drying as well... before the invention of dryers
Oh my gosh, I'm speechless. It's my favourite place so far. I already have forgotten the first one that took my breath away; I've followed you from the start but never commented until I got to know your personalities more. I knew you were both honest, genuine and very respectful from the start.
What can I say about this place? It's truly magnificent and although I've shed a few tears over places you've shared with us, this one really hurt my heart. 💔 The little girl's room was especially touching. I feel like the manor is alive and feels lonely. Somebody, not me (😠🤬) won the 50 million dollar lottery on Friday. I really thought that I was going to win something! If money like that ever came into my hands I would try and find out how to purchase that place and restore it. It's only a fantasy though. 😢 I just can't decide what I like best. I love the French Chateau's windows; the shutters make the place so dreamy. The architecture stands out first, then the furnishings, then the collectibles. They were all magnificent 🤩 I can't think of a superlative yet to describe this place. I'm sure I'll be editing this comment numerous times. 😆

I wish it was you who won the lottery. We sometimes also wish we were richer and would have been able to restore many of the properties we have visited and maybe even make a living out of restoring all these sad abandoned places, yet with so much potential in them.
French style is one of our favorite styles too. Especially in castles and big manor houses they always have such a majestic and exquisite style in which they decorate everything. It is so stately.

I do love the French style so much. I watch a program on PBS called Escape to the Chateau; it's about a British couple who bought an abandoned castle outside of France, I believe. It's fun to watch how they've renovated the castle over 4 years. But the places you go to actually speak to me more.

The little bedrooms on the top floor with their own sink and commode right in the room was probably for the live-in maids, cook, etc.
There was a sword in this mansion that was called Tizonia, an iconic sword wielded by 11th century Spanish military leader El Cid. That sword was very old 😯
The sword that belonged to him is in a museum. The one they have hanging on the wall is a replica

Just when I think you exceed mansion explorations you bring this beauty to us. Absolutely mesmerizing, surely not boring!!! Shoot, there could be some VanGough's, Renoir, or maybe a Monet!! There were some beautiful and very old paintings hanging on those walls! In the rock collection, I even saw a big hunk of petrified wood! No doubt, the families that lived here throughout afew decades, perhaps centuries, collected so much (lots of $$) The gas masks were from World War 1! Loved the beautiful curtains. They are very old and very expensive materials. Top of the line antiques, very old. No doubt they are cataloging each piece that most likely will go to auction. Thank you and thank you again for your love of handling each piece. I wish that mansion could talk. What would it say and how much history could it tell us all!!!!!!!!

I am so amazed! Boring is the furthest from truth. You 2 made this so interesting and detailed there was no time for being bored. You timed it perfectly, not too long but long enough on each exquisite find. I'm so glad there were tags cause that tells me it's not abandoned by choice and someone will be back for the property. I so appreciate the respect you both show. One thing I wish we could have seen - at the beginning in the foyer there was a door matching the wall paper and the board, I was really going you would have shown us behind the door. Also was there no basement? There's windows underground. Do you guys look for hidden doors? Love the video!
I too was wondering about that door so I went back thru the video, turns out that "secret room" was the hallway where the logs were for the fireplace. Look at 17:57 and you'll see. My guess is that was originally the hallway for the servants to walk down without being seen by guests.

I am praying the family members reclaim this gorgeous mansion and breathe life into it again. So sad to see it just sitting there.....waiting for the family to come home!
This mansion was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous! The one problem I had with this one is that it really felt way too much like you were going through people's personal things too much which made me rather uncomfortable. All I could think about was what if my mother passed and it took my siblings and I time to go through everything and someone thought they could come in and go through things like that?
I completely agree, If someone was going through my stuff without permission I would be furious!!

All the items that have tickets in them have been Cataloged, probably ready to be Auctioned for the family or for the Bank to repossess due to debt. Very beautiful but sad.

The empty frames above the beds are crowns and would have been used to hold fabric which would wrap around the bed like curtains in the winter in houses which were not heated. Fabric was cleaned and stored in the summer.
Yes we thought so too! A similar hanger was still present together with the fabric in the little girls' bed room. However, the bed in this room was taken out. Thank you anyways for letting us know Devora! :)

I love that you take time to go through every room! This house is amazing and I hope that someone who appreciates this home and everything in it will repair and start to maintain it. Do you ever go through land records and research previous owners. I would find out who if anyone pays the land taxes. Here in the US, each state is different, but places like this are sold for the taxes. Thanks for the tour!
So mush to take in that I watched several times. Something that caught my eye were the two vases with snakes at the top, if these were authentic antique Italian majolica snake-handled vases, they are approximately $12,000 each (USD) at auction. The greater story is why the family left these and other priceless family treasures behind. The lot/inventory stickers could be a telling sign that some activity is in the works to save and preserve most, if not all...let us hope...I am a fan of your videos, and I also agree that your lengthy videos give us more insight to what you are seeing. The very last Room with all the cupboards built into the wall the storage Room I love that concept! I would love to actually do that in my house. It looks like an entire wall but it's all storage! I thought this video was incredible. The reason is that you walk around looking at every detail, just as I would if I were there! This was a beautiful mansion with remarkable antiques in every room. At first I was like you guys, speechless at the beauty, but as you went on I found myself getting angrier and angrier. All that incredibly beautiful stuff, just left to rot. It’s very wrong. Selling just one or two of the paintings or furniture would bring in enough to pay someone to look after the house and contents for at least a few years. All the hard work that went into making those fantastic pieces of art, fabrics, musical instruments ect ect. To just leave it with no caretaker, to either decay or be stolen or trashed is WRONG! Omg, that sword was Damascus steel! Literally priceless, honestly, millions of dollars! that’s due to how rare and old it is. I wouldn’t have missed a second of this vid! How do you stop yourselves from stealing bits from the places you come across? Even that wallpaper would be worth a fortune due to its age.
Just so you know, hunting trophies are actually all called ‘mounts’, taxidermy is specifically a mounted skin on a base (‘head mount’ for just heads and ‘full body mount’ for the whole animal) while the ones that are just the horns/antlers on a plaque are called ‘skull caps’.
This was such a beautiful place, beautifully shown by your patient video skills. I truly loved every second of it! Honestly, the video does not seem that long. I'm so busy being into it, as if I'm there, and then suddenly it's over. Actually, when I see a long time length on your videos, I get excited... because I know it's going to be good! 👍💌
I never saw a cast iron heater with a built in cabinet with shelves either. It isn't for burning coal as these heaters run on hot water/ steam that circulates through them. I think those little shelves are for drying small items like wet gloves or wet socks/ shoes or something.... Can't imagine why it would be in a room like that unless it was an entry room.

It was a very uncommon yet unique find! Another viewer commented that this was used to keep dishes, like food, warm. It is very hard for me to imagine that, but it might be the truth!

It was for warming things..somdtimes found in kitchens and dinning rooms..to keep things warm..like pies..towels..

You guys would have loved the house I grew up in Illinois. It was built in 1804. It has pocket closets and a trapped door in the closet that led through walls of the house.
What a find. While long, I was mesmerized. I would love to know the know the name of the family, status they held. It appears they were very rich to say the least. The fur coat was interesting. If it had a lining, it would be comfortable to wear with no itching. My mother had a singer sewing machine which I did use a couple times. I was born in 1947, so old enough to know what it was and how to use. OMG what a find. I would love to see what was written in some of the lodgers. I can't imagine one person reading or using all those books. A highly intelligent person for sure. If there is any book or magazine article on this family I would love to read about them. I am assuming these people were European. Again what a fantastic find. Love how you talked about the home and touch everything with care. Thank you for much for fantastic video.
This house reminds me of when I went to a old gold mining town in british columbia canada, it was knee deep in mud streets and everywhere else, but the houses of the people of $$$ were like this place, I remember touring the grandest house there (mayor or someone important) it was as beautiful as this place, in the gift shop I bought a SUPER fancy hat pin....now I don't own or have I ever had hats that require pins but....I held onto that hat pin for a long time! I seen it as one of my most fancy possessions oddly, this house brought back those feelings, holding onto it hoping for a grand future..... CRAZY!!! Love you guys! Xo.

I feel a mix of such anger and sadness, that so many places you find are in such neglect, it is sinful the way so many beautiful things left behind to rot , not sold to those whom would restore them, or donated to museums
As someone from the UK, I'm in awe of the way so few of these places are destroyed, vandalised and completely trashed. Similar videos from the UK look as if a group of monkeys have moved in for a month and ripped things to shreds.
