    Nikki Lauda was involved in the development of this car, hence why it handles so well ! Also the GT4 shared the same wing mirrors as the 1976 Ferrari F1 car !

    Dino Ferrari by Gandini, what else do you want? As an Italian car lover I find this GT4 adorable at least. Great video by the way, thanks for posting it!

    They don't come from the same design house. The GT4 was Bertone and Marcello Gandini, while the Esprit was done by Giorgetto Giugiaro at his own design studio, Ital Design. Giugiaro did work at Bertone at one time, though, and did a slew of fantastic cars there, including the Alfa 105 (Giulia 1600/2000/GTA etc.), the Ghibli and the de Tomaso Mangusta while there. Two of the greatest designers of all time, so best not to mix them up.

    I dont look at this car as a "family" car. I look at it as a piece of art that a master of his craft built. It is a Ferrari Dino, a magnificent piece of art. Think about the love that went into designing this car - It was Enzo's son. Also - Lets not forget about the ultimate wedge car - The TR7 - "The shape of things to come".

      I completely agree with you. Not built to meet crash regulations or pedestrian safety, probably not concerned about aero as much to get good mpg. A lovely era of the motorcar and so pleased I was able to experience and share it with everyone

    Great video. I love watching these reviews of the Dino. Back in 76' I had a Pantera that got hit while I was at a party. It never was the same. I looked for a replacement and came across a 75' Dino in Black with the "Boxer" flat black on the bottom. This car was badged Ferrari Front & Back not Dino except for gauges. I hate that people don't consider it a Ferrari since it came from Ferrari. Let's not forget It's the first of the V8's and look at how long the V8 lasted. In 1975 the 308 Dino was the only Ferrari exported into the U.S. Even back then at the Ferrari events, people scoffed at the 308 Dino and the 246 Dino because they we're in the belief that a real Ferrari has 12 cylinders. I really enjoyed my car and kept it for many years. Thanks for reviewing the Dino!

      I am lucky enough to own a GT4 and I love them. The spirit of the car is well captured here. As you say, nothing not to like about it. But many people do not understand the GT4, so videos like this help. Verde pino is awesome.

    The riddle:
    They say it's like an X1/9 with occasional rear seats, a Montecarlo with two Fiat engines, or a Lister Bell Stratos with the same engine.

    Marcello Gandini also did the Countach and...the Citroen BX. If you think about it there are a number of similar styling cues on these two...and Gandini actually liked the BX so much he used one as personal transport for a while.

    My first Ferrari and it was great. Similar to the 308 gtb and s. 2 seats in the back be quite small. Great handling. Whats not to like. I actually owned three at various times then went fot the GTB and GTS. There are some that say its not a Ferrari unless it has a V12.

    The 308 GT4 is obviously far more closely related to a Lamborghini Urraco than the Esprit, (even the Bertone interiors were clearly the same style, not in the classic Ferrari or futuristic Lotus families at all). I recall reading this Dino design was originally fully intended as a possible Lambo model when Ferrari stepped in and just bought it simply because it was fully finished and not yet sold to Lamborghini (Ferrari quickly needed a practical 2+2 911 fighter that wasn't a big V12 during the gas crunch). Pininfarina didn't have anything ready, so Bertone altered the squared off Lamborghini tail lights, slapped "round Ferrari" tail lights in there as best they could, and called it a Dino. If you put Lambo badges/wheels on it, you'd never know.

    that is new to me, i have both Dino´s and never heard such a thing ,maybe for people that were born in the 90´s or early 2000´s, it isn´t a proper ferrari, you´ve said it all ,no longer a interesting video but a miscomseption of what cars were decades before you were born, and Lotus ,i do have some but it´s sad that kids today can´t understand what are sportive cars

    • @MilesHardy
      @MilesHardy 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I think you missed our point, we agree it is every bit a real Ferrari - we love them. But for years even the 206 and 246 were hugely undervalued because of the brand alignment created by Ferrari themselves. So the buyers in the 80's & 90's didn't really see the true value in them, which we do. The market is now finally waking up to the fact that they are in fact, fabulous! Which is great news! I didn't create the sterotype (albeit incorrect) merely narrating what has actually happned through the previous generations of petrolheads who haven't been seduced by the Dino's allure. Trust me, I'm smitten! One of the best cars I've ever driven and I love it, which is why we bought it. :)

      @@MilesHardy same reason here ,the Dino changed the way ferrari built their cars, today(or after 72) most(99%) of the ferrari´s are midle engine , the first was a preference of mine the second Dino payed very cheap for it and was close to perfection ,at the time the value was close to nothing car enthusiasts said that it wasn´t a ferrari , the 4 seat car in late 70´s with a powerfull V12 also seen one in perfect shape being destroyd in television and other that the owner asked me if i would pay what today is 2500€ and my reply was ,yes and for my surprise the car was perfect ,even the engine was tuned to perfection and i found it perfect in looks just have to remenber other cars in the road by those years, the main problem was drinking too much for a daily driver, there are cars that today have a good value that i have them because they were ofered to me, this was related with the increase of gasoline price ,so many BMW´s and Alfa-Romeu´s i have for free and in good condition ,even a mercedes S-class from the 80´s a 450SE(or 350, not sure now) was like ..."take it.."

      @@DamoDrives you´re already a man, but the cars refered here most of them are from earlier in time or early 80´s, but it were good years ,lot´s of well done sport cars were released in late 70´s, wish i had come into this world by that time ,you still lived in the time europe had more young people living and didn´t had to see what was considered mainstream in the early 80´s. The 70´s , 80´s and 90´s were the best decades to be young
