Nice to know the distinction between the non-A and A versions...

HI, I am the one who was asking about talking to these devices using i2c...
I really hope you could make some videos on how to best convert these to i2c communication capability...
The last time we chatted, you suggested it would be better if the i2c could just read the display.. I agree, but it also needs to know what range is selected.
I have a couple of TM-504 and TM-506 boxes that do not have HPIB.
I was thinking I could use the same idea as HPIB, but use i2c instead..
That way I could put a TCA9548A 1 to 8 channel i2c multiplexer in the TM-504/506 box, so that each plugin could be on a separate address... Then connect the back of the TM-504/506 to a esp32..
Then use some kind of connection to connect the box to the plugin..
a (pogo pin) or (magnetic coupler) or (opto coupler)

I have owned TM500 since the late 1970s... and never seen any communications interface with it. One of the reasons the TM5000 series was created was to provide a communications protocol between instruments and external devices. If there are 500 series plug ins that have digital communications interfaces, they are new to me. There is an abundant supply of TM5000 racks and instruments out there, ... might it not make more sense to build around the 5000 that was engineered up front to incorporate communications and control protocol?

@@jenniferwhitewolf3784 Correct. That is what the person from this channel told me.
Just because a washing machine doesn't come with wifi, doesn't mean you can't add it...
I am talking about making a custom mod, so you can talk to these devices over wifi...

I know the pain, sometimes i wonder if a DIY tool with some sort of steppermotor would be nice :D

Dislike the meters that share the same terminal pair for current and voltage measurement - too easy to put it in current mode by accident.
