I moved to Irving Texas from Spokane in spring 2020. Large brick 2 story homes around 3 bedrooms in irving texas or near DFW airport were only about 350,000 to 550,000 in beautiful neighborhoods. I am from airway heights . My family lived on Monroe street near garland theater around 2014 in 2 bedrooms craftsman house that was valued at 100,000 in 2014. my grandparents owned multi houses in Spokane and airway heights. This is only my opinion but I personally think Spokane is about 100,000 overpriced on older homes . I honestly think realistically for a nice older home the prices should be under 350,000 ! I have a friend on the south hill bought a very small house in 2003 for under 60,000! Texas is extremely different from Spokane. We left Texas because it was too hot and getting too expensive. I have considered coming back to Spokane because it is my hometown. Realistically I don’t like what I am seeing and hearing from people still living in Spokane. I would like to see a price correction first before moving back and to see homeless crisis to be handled successfully. My family had a 45 acre farm in medical lake but they were more comfortable living in airway heights. They sold everything off after my grandfather died in 2022. I would recommend less populated area like medical lake or deer park because of all the problems the city of Spokane has always had all my life. I was told last year for a 2 bedroom apartment that the rent was around $1500 from multiple different apartments complex’s. We lived at GoGo heights before moving to Texas. We honestly tried to moved back to Spokane around Christmas time last year but it was too expensive. We moved to my husband hometown in the Midwest because it was about $400 a month cheaper . You can’t afford the rent in Spokane unless you make closer to 75,000 with a family. My husband income went from 40,000 in 2020 to about 77,000 in 2024. My point is rent prices and home prices are too expensive for most avg working families right now in Spokane.
