    What did you think of this video? Do you own the lens? How do you like it?

      You have a great style sir..! Yes I own it but it's a very recent new buy in F-mount. Looking forward to your other videos when you have time.

      It's difficult to assess whether you attempt to be humorous but I find a very understated humour in this video which I found entertaining. I watched because I am looking at this lens on ebay right now for a Nikon and wished to use it as a wide angled/field, relatively fast, astrophotography lens. With the distortions you describe, unfortunately I don't think it would do the job I want it to.

    • @1kwords
      @1kwords  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@markwelsh9068 as far as my attempt to be humorous... Well, I guess I'm a bit of a funny guy... I didn't specifically go for humour with this video, and what little there is, I think it's just my natural demeanor.
      Now, regarding astrophotography with this lens, I did do it (check my video on the channel) but I would recommend at least f/5.6 and better yet another lens altogether.

    • @markwelsh9068
      @markwelsh9068 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@1kwords Yes I'd recommend another lens altogether too but they would prove extremely expensive whereas, a vintage lens can be picked up for anything between £15 and £50. Any thoughts on that for a Nikon F mount? Cheers. And yes,, it must be just your demeanour which appears very chilled (particularly after that beer!).

      The Olympus Zuiko 28mm 2.8 is nigh perfect. Sharp from edge to edge and excellently corrected. I'll I can't speak from experience, I expect the 24mm to be similar in performance.

    Thanks a lot for great comments on this lens! I bought mine in 1990 and used in on my canon Eos 650. Over the years it has been forgotten, but started to use it a bit again a few years ago. Now I have upgraded to mirrorless R6, and by using it now, error-messages appears in my viewfinder. Maybe time to pass in on.

    Found you as one of the only reviews for the Sigma lens and stayed for the full video because of your style. Very natural presentation style as if we were sitting both together and really liked the scene changes. Keep it up ;)

    • @1kwords
      @1kwords  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for your kind words.
      The scene changes is something I only did for this one video, but I'm thinking I should do it more.

    • @sarcasticfpv3862
      @sarcasticfpv3862 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@1kwords definetly because its less monotonous in comparison to just the same static scene. Also acknowledging the change was quite funny like when you were with the second almost empty beer😆
      Other question did you have an AF adapter with the autofocus, too? Because I have got mine today and I intended to use it together with a Helios for manual focus video work and in comparison the focusing is a bit stuttery 😅 I had to go with that lens because i really need a wide focal length since I use crop sensor cameras...

    Those mini tripods, man, they always come in handy! ;) You are doing the right thing taking your time and avoiding burnout and all of that crap! Also, loved the creative shots ;) Sigmas are nice lenses, very clean, some would say a bit too modern. Too bad for the flimsy aperture ring...

    I was looking at obtaining a 24mm lens, until I came across an Auto Tamron Adaptamatic 21mm. A fun lens, yet to use it much. Definitely produce videos at your own pace, because doing so when you aren't motivated will not result in good viewing. Keep up the good work.

    I bought this lens used in 1990 for £40.00 and used it on my x-300 minolta for over 20 years before going to digital using a nikon dlsr , I tried to buy on in the nikon f mount but a nikon 24mm came up at a similar price , I intend to use it again when I buy a mirrorless in the future as I thought it was a great lens.

      ps: I love to shoot with Minolta glass's ( coming from a Konica Minolta Film background) I presently have in regular use both an Sony A100 & A900 ( I have modern Sony Glass but am unable to resist the draw of my Minolta Lens )
      Thou I have a Minolta 24-105 AF which I use as my primary " Walk Around on the A900 " which is excellently sharp for such a wide range, but very distorted at the wider end,
      Regarding this 24mm lens, I absolutely LOVE what you have said about this lens and before watching this video was seriously considering purchasing it's more modern brother, but now I see many advantages to purchasing this one.
      Thank you VERY VERY much : Best regards, John ( presently residing Cheltenham UK )
