Since I'm a huge Star Wars fan and scholar in way, here are your answers to the best of my knowledge: - Legends was the prior canon, it was everything from the books, comics, games and whatever else made by other creatives that weren't George Lucas before the Disney Acquisition. Legends had some fantastic stories, ideas and concepts... but it also had some VERY out there ones too, that didn't line up with other stories in said "canon at the time", and there was... A LOT of it. The current canon wiped all of it out, but things made in that era, Like 2008's The Clone Wars and their tie in material was canon, since George Lucas had a hand in it. All stories after the buyout from movies, shows, games, books, comics, and some other media are canon. - Maul is a Zabrak, a species that lives on Dathomir and some other planets, Dathomirians are a more humanoid looking race, and usually have grey skin and white hair. - Sith being called Jedi would be common around the time of Maul since the Sith were seen as extinct at the time, and the only known force wielders with lightsabers are Jedi. - There are other types of force wielders, but Jedi and Sith use lightsabers. Mainly because it's a skill itself to make one, and fighting a khyber crystal, the power source, is hard to come by. - The opening scene of The Acolyte has a bar fight (very kung-fu like), it's a usual stable in Star Wars media. - Jedi are more like telepath/telekinetics like Jean Grey. You can do much more with the force with than that, but that's the main uses of it. - Padme's Naboo Queen garb is inspired by Mongolain and Tibetan women outfits. - If you have double sided saber, you can use only one saber if you want to. - For about 13-ish years, Maul was dead in the eyes of the fandom, it wasn't until the Clone Wars, that George decided to say he survived, when everyone else at LucasFilm thought that was ballsy. The reason he has such a deeper backstory now is because most of the lore was made AFTER he was brought back into story. - Maul and Vader are the main two Sith cyborgs, but there have been in the past, like thousands of years back, in the Old Republic. - Pirates aren't THAT strong, they have the right amount recourses, numbers and skill to hold their own - They are "The Boba Fett" guys, as they are Mandalorians, famous for their armor, helmets, jet packs and weapons. - The Darksaber isn't exactly powerful, but the status it gives you is. You own it, and you're seen as the ruler of Mandalore. - Clone Wars was adopted into the Disney era canon, since it was a independent production from George Lucas, but since he made it, everything in it is automatically canon, and the tone carried over into the other Disney era animated shows set around this time period, like Clone Wars Season 7, Star Wars Rebels (For the most part), The Bad Batch. - Kylo Ren's cross guard saber is actually pretty liked, then again, any new idea tends to wax and wane. - Grievous is a cyborg as well, but an alien who over time converted himself into a cyborg. - Ahsoka Tano is one of the most famous Jedi in Star War currently. She's one of the few character we see grow as a character from padawan, to older teen, to wise adult in many years, and many projects. She went from hated character, to beloved in the course of several years to now 16 years later. - Maul appeared in the scene showed to you in Solo, his first live action appearance since Phantom Penance, with Ray Park returning to do his physical body again. - Ahsoka and Maul just have markings, do their unique cultures. Ahsoka is a Togruta from Shili, and those are natural, Maul has makings like all Zabraks, but has the red and black body tatts as we know. - Kanan Jarrus is a main character from Star Wars Rebels, and using the force to see, and redirected his moves. - Holocrons are devices designed to hold knowledge only force wielders can tap into. Use the light side for Jedi ones, dark side for Sith, destroying them will only make you lose the knowledge inside of it. - Oh yes, there is Magick (yes, with a "k") in Star Wars, since it's not science fiction per say, but Science Fantasy. Magick is essentially using the dark side of the force, but without it corrupting to you, but sects of force wielders use it, like the Night Sisters of Dathomir, Maul's people. It's not common, so no one knows how it works besides those sects. - They thought Obi-Wan died post Order 66, and during the Empire's follow up purge of Jedi who survived during the years since then. That's the story of Maul, a man who let hi vengeance consume him, and taken down by a man who trained and prepared for that moment for decades. Only for the two to finally resolve their feud at the end with a embrace of death. He's such a great character, you chose wisely. I did a major lore dump on ya lol
Unfortunately the problem with Darth Maul is he's always up against the protagonists, so he's not allowed to win. And they were very reluctant to kill him off because he is such a fan favourite (which is why they resurrecting his character in the first place). Which is such a shame because he's an awesome villain!
14:35 I believe it's called the Dark Saber. Basically it is wielded by the leader of the Mandolorians, other than visually looking awesome it behaves like a regular light saber.
In old legends Darth Mauls mother is a poor woman who doesn't want her baby turned into a wepoin. So she gives him Palpatine who torture him into a sith, and he dies a wepon.
Knights of the old republic 1 and 2, Battlefront 2(original), Battlefront 2(modern), Republic Commando, Force Unleashed, Bounty Hunter, and any game featuring Kyle Katarn are star wars games you should absolutely play.
great character! glad he is done with so that disney can't drag him into all of this madness they have been releasing currently 😂 Noggin X Settanno dressing up like Darth Maul as a kid 🤝
By the events of star wars rebels, where maul meets ezra, his spirit is already broken, the only thing keeping him alive is his pure hatred. I think if you watched episode 1 and then clone wars then rebels then you would be able to feel his character rather than just get a surface level understanding through a synopsis such as this. The holocrons are just data repositories but from ancient times when both jedi and sith were more common and more powerful. The force is lile magic if you can think of magic as the manipulation of energies.
Alittle fun fact btw we almost gotten a maul trilogy had lucas still stayed in power of star wars instead of the sequel trilogy. Maul was going to be the main antagonist and it would have taken place some years after the battle of endor. We would have seen some amazing legend characters including a sith twiliek babe known as Darth talon 🥰
One of the best Star Wars villains is Grand Admiral Thrawn, who is in the original (AKA _real_ canon) and Disney. He is my favorite villain in the series for sure, and a huge part of my favorite novel trilogy in the Star Wars universe being the Thrawn trilogy (Heir to the Empire, Dark Force Rising, and The Last Command). That trilogy is pre-disney and at this point i hope Disney doesn't try to touch it for any movies because they'll ruin it. They've already de-canoned some of the best characters in those novels. Slso if you look into the Disney lore you should then look into the original canon. Jacen and Jaina are so much better than what we got (no shade on Adam Driver because his character was one of the things i actually liked in Episodes VII-IX). Disney had so, _so_ much good lore to work with and they threw it all away to push an agenda rather than writing good stories. And to be honest, i don't even hate the final trilogy and disagree with a lot of people about how they felt Luke would turn out. I'm also a Star Wars fangirl; it's my favorite franchise. But the last two weren't as good as they could have been. Like they built up what could have been a really cool villain but didn't follow through on anything they seemed to set up. It was a lost opportunity. I think the last movie Disney actually nailed was rogue One, which can _almost_ compete with Empire Strikes Back as my favorite movie ever.
I don’t really watch star wars, my family does. That said I have always loved Darth Maul and once I heard about the Night Sisters I wanted content on them. Just love the concept.
To this day, I still believe Star Trek is better by a mile. The only thing that makes it a conversation is how good rebels and the mandalorian were. Those shows are the best Star Wars media since the original trilogy.
I don't know all the lore, but Darth maul (and less so obi wan his rival) I remember is a bit weak in the force for a dark side user. He just wants to kill things with his light saber, because light sabers are awesome. Because of this you can out smart Darth Maul, because he just try's to head butt every problem. His master also liked sabers a lot, but he knew the power of the importance of the force, and tried (but failed) to get him to study it more.
Maul and Obi-wan are kinda the two sides of the same coin. They both struggle with using the force but are excellent warriors that learn from their opponents. The key difference is Obi-wan is patient and defensive while Maul is sheer aggressive will; which is why their final meeting ended so quickly, Maul was completely blindsided by Obi-wan striking first.
@@thewrongopinion2474 From what I was told. obi wan is just better with it then maul. Right? Like maul didn't sense obi wan summoning his light saber, while obi wan would.
@@Hot_SpicyGrill More accurately it's humble dedication vs arrogant overconfidence. The interpretation that I lean into is that Maul "knew" that Obi-wan fought defensively, so whether or not he "felt" Obi-wan draw his saber it was never even a consideration that it would be an aggressive strike.
