    *UPDATE* It's August of 2023 and the fridge has thrown a fit again... Low and behold another of the 3 capacitors has become swollen. Misplaced the rest of the ones I bought a couple years ago for the initial fix so I hopped on eBay and ordered 6 more for about 8$. I have replaced the bad capacitor and she is off to the races yet again! Hopefully this video continues to help anyone with this same issue as I have now experienced it twice with success both times!

      I followed your instructions and replaced the blown capacitor. It removed the error code SY CE but now fridge has error code SY CF which means wiring our miscommunication. Could It be due to a bad soldering job on my part? this was my first time soldering so I am no expert.

    • @TimMcArdle
      @TimMcArdle  ปีที่แล้ว

      @BillyCanales that's very possible. It's small and probably easy to solder across the terminals.

    After watching this video I purchased a soldering kit and capacitors. Never have I soldered before. But with having to choose to replace or fix. I opted to fix on my own. When I pulled out the board and I had the exact the same issue as in the video, one of the electrolytic capacitors was swollen. After some work and determination I was able to get it out and was able to replace it. Been 2 days and my fridge is working perfectly. Very thankful I found this video. Thank you so very much.

    3 wks ago our Fridge is headed to the junkyard. Still doesn't work even after I replaced the start relay and the burned Run capacitor. My wife is so happy at that moment and start shopping for a new Samsung $3K Fridge . And when everything seems loss, I accidentally saw your video.. Its a miracle!! same Fridge ,same model , same error code and same broken capacitor. Now, my wife hates you, but that's ok, you made me a subscriber and u save me a lot of $$$. I will just buy her new clothes to make her happy. Thanks Bro!!

    Tim - Thanks for posting this video! Had the same code, pulled out the board and the same capacitor (it was the exact same one) had a bulge on top. I replaced the capacitor (only replaced the one with the bulge) and so far after 24-hours everything is fine. For others that may be experiencing this I’ll give you my breakdown. Once I initially got the code, I still had a light on in the freezer but no light on the refrigerator side - not sure if they were cooling. I power cycled the refrigerator and everything worked as normal for about 30 minutes, then the same code came back - this time no lights on either side and definitely not cooling. I heard an audible clicking noise coming from the control board. Attempted several more power cycles but realized this time she wasn’t coming back. Found your video doing a google search and followed your instructions! Thanks again!

      Came home to the message on the fridge with the light off in the refrigerator side exactly as your breakdown. Figured to power off. Once plugged back in, nothing was running anymore and the rear fan was running indefinitely. On then click click off. On click click off. Quickly googled the code and thankfully this and another video matched up. Pulled the board and two of the 3 caps buldged. Thankfully I had worked electronics in the past and had spare caps on hand from repariing old LCD monitors and flat screen TVS. Had the exact 35V - 470uF caps on hand. 4 to be exact. They are fatter in size but a little squeeze and angle and desolder, Resolder, and fridge powered up like nothing happened. Thanks guys. 1 hour downtime

      @@Jonicraw After two years, this morning my fridg beeped a few times and the led panel went blank then it went back on - like yours the condenser fan ran continuously BUT I got no error code. After a system reboot it happened again. I pulled the control board out and had another capacitor with a bulge. I replaced it today and it hasn’t beeped again but the condenser fan is still running continually. So far, I have replaced two of the three capacitors, but the one I haven’t replaced doesn’t have a bulge. Based on your explanation, I wonder if my third capacitor is bad?

    • @cliff.frankenberger
      @cliff.frankenberger 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@TimMcArdle UPDATE - My fridg appears to be running like normal. For some reason the condenser fan was continuously running yesterday when I noticed the problem and after I changed the bad capacitor. This morning the Fridge appears to be running normally. I decided to leave the other ‘original’ capacitor alone but have spares on hand and ready if it eventually fails.
      This is one of the best TH-cam video’s out there. You saved me a lot of aggravation 2 years ago and the capacitor was the first thing I looked for once my problem happened yesterday. Just for others reading this, the second time my fridg acted up, I got no error code. If you have this fridg and it’s acting flaky, the first thing I’d check is these capacitors.

Well it started giving him the error code again so they bought a new fridge and gave me this one. Will look into this solution, may even have the same capacitor on hand. Just plugged it up after setting for a day just to try it, and its running fine now but have a feeling it will throw the same code.
