Interesting experiment you're running, although I will say the reason that the hive species has three different subspecies is that they all fit relatively nicely into three different roles at their villages. Princes do the smart work, soldiers do the fighting, and drones do the labor. Using a colony only with drones will be a lot harder, because you'll have to fit them into roles they mechanically have debuffs in or don't excel at due to lower limb health. My hypothesis is that you'll start to see some of these difficulties come up in the playthrough, and some will be harder to overcome than others, but I've no doubt you'll make it entertaining. For future reference for anyone watching when a character is stuck you can just pick them up with another character to get them unstuck. This also works when they're on elevation

If anything, the AI was so confused by his haphazard wall orientations they just sort of stood there outside the walls.

You don't have to rebuild your houses if your characters get stuck, you can just pick them up with someone else. While you can build sth like the great wall of china or a copper exclave you have to be careful with it; the game can detect your copper operation as a second village if it's faar enough away and will send twice as many raids your way. Those moments when the entire damn hive was just running in circles around the based, panicked to the core, running away from any and all fauna that strode by - all those scenes missed the Yakety Sax (Benny Hill chase theme) soundtrack.
It's all kinds of fantastic to come back to these months later and remember them as the learning exercise they were. We can see from this specific series the importance of real walls, turret research, and kiting extremely dangerous things away from town.
It's fascinating how much you can do in kenshi - from being just a crawling dude with no arms or legs(only those who watched torso experience will remember) to building your own colony with a 100 hive drones

It did become more like an RTS, but it was interesting because there are only so many unique characters (well there were, this was back when only half the map was released) so you have to be careful about how you allocate your people around the camp. I loved building big bases, making too much food, eventually smithing all of the best weapons and armor and then turning my entire group into bad asses.

I was skeptical of the idea at first, but I'm a believer now. It would be kinda cool to see a tamed animal guard group to do the fighting for the hive. A garru, a couple of bonedogs, and maybe a beak thing or 4 could be pretty useful.
There's a setting, I think called "Attack Slots" which determines how many characters are allowed to be in combat with another character at once. I think it defaults to 2, for this kinda thing you probably want to uncap it if you haven't already.

I feel like every time a kenshi series starts its a matter of if the game wants to screw you up in the beginning or if it wants to see how much you can accomplish before your character dies
I wonder if amphibian realizes that armor king is likely to be in kenshi 2. King says in a dialogue that he's been in business for like 957 years, and kenshi 2 is set 1000 years before kenshi, so I'd say its likely he could even have a story arc, or be a recruitable character

Just gonna point this out before watching. To do swarm tactic stuff you will need a mod that increases the combat group size.
Yeah he would definitely need at least a 3x attack slot mod but it would be too easy with a 5x
