I see some ugly tasteless folk clicked dislike and some others wrote dumb comments, saying this film is against somali/muslim culture or the actress should wear another sort of more conservative islamic hijab, and not to shake hand with the actor, etc. I think this kind of ideas are extreme n inappropriate, i see this film as a stepstone towards mutual respect and integration for somali n american cultures, and that is positive. I think many of those pointing to smaller details such as outer look of a woman and see as negative to somali or Islamic culture are unable to see the bigger picture/point of this film, and i assume such point of views represents an awkward extremist ideologies, who can't tolerate women to express a civilized look towards other cultures, but want them as servants n reproduction tools only. I think woman like Farhia Absie is one of very excellant front runners for better image of somali women in the diaspora and she deserves full support from every reasonable somali person! Big up sister Farhia, i fully support you for the good work you're doing for our people, and may i suggest you please never look back for those with extremist ideologies together with those known as "sunta hargaha" or "hore iyo daba diid"

The film is about how a white man can date an immigrant muslim woman! She attended an American hight school without the hijab, so i imagine she knows a thing or two about white or black Americans. She started covering when she became older!

Farhiya started some thing big and great in the somali community. The first somali film director which I have ever seen. I hope she could get a little bit more advice in her acting in particulr her face expressions when she is talking or when she is reacting to his words.Otherwise i really like the story and even the ending.
Expect part two which is the end of the narrative. It is gonna be as follow; Hanad's death was not true, infact a doughter of a very powerful warlord kidnapped him, then after 23 years he escaped and joines Somali pirate team tried to hijack a US ship, he gets cough and winds up court in New York. Fathia and John see him on the news, then John says "he is gonna be in jail for long time, don't bother" then she happily marries John.
sister uktii, I dont understand the aim of this film is it fittnah because if that was your aim you have reached it what was the point of taking of your hijab gradually. you start off well by not shaking hands and then bit by bit we see your hijab and islamic clothing fadeaway, that was very confusing . ukhtii fear allah, if this sends the wrong message to anyone such as young girls their sin is on you , you must think of what message you're sending before blindly doing it .
