Why did I add this to my Amazon shopping cart? I don't need another guitar! But it's on sale and under $300! It's gonna be May I buy this guitar, honey?
This could just be what I've been looking for, for a long while. A guitar I can play in a wheelchair without wood without wood hitting wheels or side guards. Need to give this some serious thought.
I never expected you to actually review this, and my wife said, "He will!" and I said, "I doubt it!" and she said "No, he definitely will!" and I said, "Oh yeah? When!?" and she said, "It's gonna be May!" And here we are. Also, May the 4th be with you and us all.
I just picked one up for travel. I’m not risking my acoustics ending up being gate checked. I got it from the factory refurb storefront on eBay. Also, it’s often cheaper to buy them from their direct sales website than Amazon.
got to say. I bought a Donner strat style guitar. I got to say that it arrived nearly perfectly set up. The nut was PERFECT. The fit and finish was fantastic. The Fret ends were perfect and rounded. Although some leveling was needed. But beyond that the guitar was set up better than any Fender I have ever owned and this was a Donner entry level guitar for $128. DST-200. Even has a coil split
It looks like many Airlines have a maximum carry-on length of about 22 inches. If you're flying, a removable neck design might be better. But, it would be good to have "threaded wood caster insert nuts" to avoid the screws from stripping out the wood on repeated removals. One suggestion for Donner is to drill the body attachment holes deep enough so the contoured metal bars can be squeezed against the center piece when not in use, and have them "click into place" when extended. That would get rid of some screws, and losing them. The guitar actually sounded better than most guitars of that design that I've heard. 👍
Man, the process of getting my guitar on a plane can be so difficult sometimes. 80-90% of the time it’s fine…. But the 10-20% that it’s tough is such a struggle!
Nice review! You can get the guitar much cheaper than your quote. The guitar stays in tune pretty well. I mainly play slide. I plug this guitar into my pedals and amp and play it like my normal Strat, but only when I'm travelling. I installed strap locks; one next to the lead jack. I disliked using the hex wrench for the dismantling and installing of the metal body shapes each time I travelled, so I drilled right through the holes and body and put in brass bolts so that I can use a normal screw driver. It looks fine: like it came like that. Also I didn't like the way the tuner sat on the end of the neck so I made a split dowel to fit top and bottom. Now the tuner sits snugly instead of wobbling. I've got photos and could post them if you tell me how!
I’ve been looking for a traveler’s guitar and came across your vid and I could say your review for this guitar was amazing and I’m actually considering to buy one thanks
Interesting instrument. Might be useful for a busking gig, especially if you have to move location frequently. May the 4th be with you! 😅 and... It's gonna be May.
It's gonna be May, it actually sounded pretty good for a portable guitar. It might make for an ok backup gigging guitar if you're tight for space while travelling.

nice review! been thinking about picking one up soon for practicing while out and about. went on vacation recently and lugging my guitar + small amp along was kind of a pain. what's weird is i wish it didnt come with all the extras as I already have them and at a lower price point it'd be much more enticing
Hi Scott! I did buy this and do like it with my Spark Go along with the Swiff guitar and Lekato EIM transmitters you also recommended. You are pretty spot on with your assessment of this little one. Feels good and could lower the action for such but I need to be careful with lowering it too much where the low E and A string can still stay in contact with the saddle. Wish they had added a jazz style pickup near the neck but I just saw that Donner will come out with the Hush X for those electric players and maybe you can get one to review. Anyway for the price this puppy is a keeper. I look forward to more of your videos. Thanks and Cheers!
Don't know if you still address videos like this one but I would be very interested in your signal processing chain. It sounds so much more like an acoustic than the dry signal. Thanks in advance.
Hi Scott, thank you for this articulate, intelligent and unbiased review. I think this would be a "fun to have" Guitar, but at this price point and given some of its sonic limitations I might just hold off purchase at this time. Its gonna be May... then June, July and August (just in case!)👍
I picked up one of these from the Donner Ebay store discounted and listed as a "refurbished" for around $120 (including an added 20% ebay discount) but honestly it arrived in virtually new condition. I did need to do my own setup because the factory action was pretty high. But after about 30 minutes of tweaking the saddle, nut, and truss rod it plays nice. I keep it with me on the road and sometimes I plug it straight into my car stereo and jam out on my lunch hour. Its well worth it at a discounted price.
I just got my donner hush and was blown away at every facet of unboxing it UNTIL i held it up sideways and saw the intonation differential between the headstock area and the 20th fret..it's absolutely at least 3/8" spacing !!! The problem is there is no access to truss adjustment that I can see nor any indications I can find in the instructions to properly adjust it.. anyone else have this experience ??!?? I'm totally frikkin' heartbroken, would love to be able to have this be a purchase success story !
It is a bit high action, I do agree. I haven’t looked into trying to change that though, but I believe there is a way. It’s been a while since I did this video, but I do remember there being a way to change it

It’s a small detail, but it always drives me nuts when a company leaves out something that you need. I’ve ordered $1000 in ear monitor systems and then you have to buy the cable to rack mount it separately. Things like that drive me nuts, so it’s cool that they included everything in this one 🤘
@@ScottUhlMusic there's nothing more frustrating than spending money on gear and find out that they didn't include a battery.
