Ten year old Sam describes himself as "a little thug from Otara". He spends his time; "stealing bikes, drinking", although he has given up smoking. It's estimated there are 2,000 young gang members in Auckland. The problem has become so serious that some politicians are calling for all gangs to be banned.
"We should be simply outlawing them and making it illegal for anyone to be a member of a named gang". But criminologist Greg Newbold believes this; "could never, ever succeed". While political debate rages, some youth workers are taking matters into their own hands. They drive around the gang hotspots trying to befriend the vulnerable kids.

Those poor kids were like moths to a lightbulb when the interviewer approached them. They’re craving attention, love , care, guidance, discipline, real role models, stability, security, everything that their parents aren’t providing .
It doesn’t take a village to raise a child. It takes two responsible parents.

I grew up in south auckland and have seen this first hand, we need fathers and compassion, these kids just want to be valued and loved just like anyone else, they were not born to be criminals and our system is failing them. We are all responsible for our society and we can’t continue to fail them like our governments are. Keep your heads up boys.

Ari... the system is purposely producing them.
The 'deep state' has been steadily promoting this mindless 'gang' culture among the poorer sectors of society via all forms of media, especially music, for decades now.
      The purpose ?
To undermine, dumb-down and splinter all aspects of community, stability and social cohesion at local and national levels. Pre-existing fractures, such as regional identities or tribal divisions (as in the case of Maori) are of course, exploited, it simply accelerates the process...
It's all just part of 'Agenda 21'.

The interview around 11:45 highlights such a perfect point as to why gangs need to be and will be stopped, he implies the police are bad, in reality they dislike police because they interrupt their criminal activities
Not only are the gangs making it harder on themselves and their future generation, they are or have integrated there own racial stereotype into society that all Maori are involved in gang activity
But in truth Maori are so friendly but I feel these gangs to be taken down to best help these youths that have been misguided

is this whole thing a repeat of the original? I was hoping there might of been some update. I lived in Otahuhu when there was a gang killing/attack in front of my house, on Awa Street. A week or so later another gang attack happened when they ran over and drug a man miles to his death. That was retribution for the other killers getting caught. I was hoping South Auckland was changing for the better. Even still I miss living in NZ.
