My older brother was band president when I was a freshman at SEMO in 2010; he was the only music major and dis now teaching at Perryville. I was SEMO's drum major for three years and am a dentist with a burning passion for marching band. Then my little sister was drum major for three years directly after I graduated; she graduted in 2018 before covid so we have no idea how the band has been since then. We are from Cape Central High School. Yall have no idea how much we owe all our sucesses to being in marching band. SEMO band will always feel like my entire family's home. There's nothing in life that has compared to the feeling, so yall better take it in while you are there! I promise the only friends you will still consider best friends in 20 years are the band kids, it's a bizarre bond for life. HOLY SHIT GUYS and WOW what a show. We watched this video and are upset that we never were able to even get CLOSE to a performance like this. e personally know how much work it takes just for a ragtag show back then... we are all in complete awe of how utterly magnificent the band is now compared to pre-covid - and we were worried what would happen to the band. WHAT A JOY IT WAS TO SEE THIS oh my god you guys made my whole year. How the hell did you all have time to do this??? How are there SO MANY OF YOU just compared to a few years ago... I absolutely knew the love and passion that SEMO has for marching band would carry it through but I feel like yall are wonderful dedicated students and I am so glad SEMO invested time and money into adding more staff - WOW that's a bunch of new names I have never heard and YES YES YES we need to always invest in our musicians - it changed my whole family's lives for the better; I would be nowhere without marching band and I tell all of my patients that when they say they play instruments. omg i could go on all day but ill stop now; THANK YOU you to the staff and band for the absolutely insane amount of extra work put in; I am a 32 year old crying because I am so happy to see you all perform so beautifully, like you make our old stuff look like garbageeeeee but lovely garbage all the same. I can recognize the amount of time you all have put into this. I have never heard the band sound like this - you all are freaking TANKS and now I'm trying to think if we would have been able to do this show, this early in the year, and and have it ready SUPER early for Jackson Bsnd Day, just to also be invited to design a complex thoughtful show ad perform in front of the BIG LEAGUES. Being from Cape Central, we worked every single day in the summer and every day of the week after school for such a show so we know it It takes WAY MORE THANKLESS WORK that requires TIME FROM BUSY COLLEGE KIDS which is like near impossible to get that many people at SEMO in the band to pull this off. Yall did it. The answer is no freaking way, my SEMO band could NOT have done this and that that's totally ok with me because now I get to still brag on the band when I was worried it would disappear after covid - who knew? It was already hard enough~ I can absolutely say you all are the BEST representation of SEMO's band and I feel like a proud band parent finally~ also, thank you to who filmed and posted this video and sorry if you are not part of the band directly; I hope you are able to pass on the message. Love, The Three Bagot alums of Cape Girardeau~ aka semo marching band megafans that are WAY too into it as full ass adults. I mean just look at the amount of words i just typed - im a millenial dentist and dont have this much energy for anything ever anymore but boy this show had me TYPING for yall
