Got to admit, you make it look a whole lot easier than it really is. Those 2x 10mm nuts on the inside of each wing are well awkward. I can't get to them. Maybe an extra deep 10mm socket will work.
I use a 10mm ratchet spanner on them. If you apply pressure to the bumper where they are located then after a few turns you can spin them off with your fingers usually. Certainly not the easiest to get to though lol 👍
@@JunglesTravels I borrowed the extra deep socket on a 6" extension, just the job. job done now, all off and now back on. Thanks for the video, it was a great help.
Cheers buddy, glad you found it helpful. I think they are 16 on stock but I can't be sure and he's sold the van now, they did have 30mm spacers though to bring them flush with the arches.
Thankyou so much. Just needed to remove the side wing . That was easy until u find to get to the last screw u then have to start to remove the dam bumper ....
Hi Barry, thanks, glad you've found it useful. Takes about half an hour to swap one over, that said I'm kinda used to doing this stuff so you could say around an hour if it's not something you do regular. Cheers 👍
Hello! Are they standard t5 wheels? They look great with them big tyres!! What size are they? I’ve got some Massive alloys in the loft to go on mine but I know my beloved with kerb them within a day so your wheels look might well be the answer!
Hi, as far as I can remember they are standard 16 inch steel rims. We got them powder coated satin black and they have 35 mm spacers on to bring them flush with the kit. Tyres AT 4x4 tyres. He actually took alloys off as he wanted a more rugged look.
I'm sorry but I do have to say, it doesn't fill me with confidence when you call the power steering reservoir "the water bottle". Especially when it has a steering wheel logo on it. I know these videos aren't easy to produce and we're all fallible but if nobody gives constructive criticism your missing opportunity to improve. Otherwise, great instructional vid. Thank you.
Nothing wrong with a bit of constructive criticism at all mate, didn't even realise I'd done that until I watched it back, well spotted lol. Glad you enjoyed the vid otherwise, cheers 👍
Tell me about it, I thought I'd got them all and then forgot about the ones behind the step, you should see the deleted scene, me yanking on the bumper saying that's how you get it off and it doesn't move😂😂 They are good tools them, one that I always forget I have usually lol
Good old VW built BACWARDS in the factory not thinking that one day an engineer has to get access to something!! Over engineered and unnecessary! Its a PLASTIC BUMPER ffs - why so many bolts? Most 'sensible' cars the bumpers are secured and bolted FROM THE OUTSIDE. Mind you most cars are built no wanting people at home to do their own maintenance - they want us to go to them and they charge £300 per hour just to LOOK AT IT!
Ford were notorious for crap like that in the 90s. They loved making special tools that you couldn't buy so you had to go back to them for it. There is a crazy amount of bolts on them bumpers though, designed by someone with tiny hands looking at where they put them too 🤣🤣
Awesome, just thought I'd share it as I know what a pain they are and if you're not used to stripping cars you might struggle. Always happy to pass on a bit of knowledge where I can 😁
Yeah they definitely went overkill on them front bumpers lol. Typical VW really, the back doors are just as bad if you want to take the number plate light strip off, total over engineering lol

What a refreshing change from lots of others where we have to skip half the video!

You're welcome, I do try not to waffle on needlessly lol.
Sometimes I even succeed 😂
Good job mate,👍 Glad I watched it, Now I'll need to do it !!!!

Got to change my intercooler your vid saved me a lot of time 👍👌
Cheers, nicevto know I've helped someone out 👍
Very good and helpful video...worked well for me.
BTW are these tyres 225/70 R16 on stock suspension?
Cheers buddy, glad you found it helpful.

Wow talk about overkill I need to do this on my to replace the intercooler, thanks for the vid 👍

Yeah it does, when he said what look he wanted I was a bit sceptical but it looks pretty badass tbf. Not your generic t5 lol .
THANK YOU!!!

I can't get my grill off the clips at the bottom are stuck solid I'm frightened im going to break it any ideas please?
Get a good flat screwdriver and pry it where the clips are. They have solid lugs but they are a tight fit. They can take a bit of force to get off.
@@JunglesTravels I have tried that but it looked like it was going to brake so have had to stop thanks though
They are tough to pull off but they're pretty strong plastic. Give it a good yank 💪👍
Aye, I just used a flat screw driver side ways, spite it, then when I put it back I'll glue it together, with fresh screws 👍
Gracias amigo
De nada Amigo 👍
Those 10mm nuts without one of those palm rachets or a rachet spanner are murder.
Yeah they are, they're still a pain with the right tool, typical overkill from VW 😂
👍👍More bolts than held the engine in a t25 , how do Shane👍👍✌👌🙏😂
You could be right there Wayne 😂😂😂
Who's got their engine running? Be careful of your lungs, dude.
Think that was actually my van in the background running, already ruined my lungs with years of painting lol, appreciate the concern though, cheers

That's a lot of faffing to get a bumper off. And those palm ratchets are handy little things, I'd never heard of them.
