Rare Earth minerals are not so rare but they are very randomly dispersed around the Earth, contrary to Iron ore or other metals. We must cherish or use them as low as possible.
All this makes 0 sense unless you are completely technology illiterate. How will you keep a phone for decades and just upgrade it? It's like you try to put a modern camera, speakers, screen, motherboard, ram, memory chip etc on an iphone 5. You will spend a ton of money and the phone will not work simple because the technology has gone miles ahead in just a decade and an iphone 5 wasn't built for that. Comparisons between phones and vintage cars is a comparison of apples and bananas. You cant put "self driving technology" or make a 1960 ford mustang electric with the specs of a modern day Tesla. You cant even upgrade the safety belts to modern specifications

Fascinating topic. I feel very strongly about Right to Repair bills, especially with phones reaching almost $1k! It's ludicrous
Thanks! The momentum for it is growing so hopefully we’ll see the right to repair become a reality on a much bigger federal scale
Huge fan of solar punk!
