Life saver!!!!!!!! I haven’t used my Mac in years because i didn’t know how to reboot it, even thought of just selling it. This video helped me. I restarted and pressed option and it worked. Now i can use it again.
For those using Catalina, you have to remount the root system folder with write permissions. So, after disabling SIP as @BGG tells it, before editing your Info.plist, run "sudo mount -uw /". This is because the system folder survives the defiled write permissions when you rebooted. It will again when you restart your computer again... so basically, every time you need to edit any file in the /System/ folder, you will have to run this command. Thanks @BGG, you saved me a lot of trouble. Was considering upgrading my graphics card which would have costed me tons... Now I can just enable graphics acceleration in Windows and use mac for code stuff and the unix environment

Interesting, I try to disable SIP on an old iMac 2007 to install Windows on it (it refused and froze to launch when we click on that yellow EFI drive). The process you give sounds to be complicate for me with the download of OS requiring Apple Store. I heard something like TransApp, had anyone tried it? Or any other tool? Will it work? Because what I understand, the main point is to create a MacOS bootable drive to enter the Recovery Mode, isn't it? Thanks!
I believe only if you are having trouble with your Mac not taking you to the recovery portion. To get to this, power on your Mac. While you quick press the power button you will need to hold down (Command R) at the same time while your computer boots up until the apple logo, and loading bar appears. Be sure to wait for the loading bar before you release. When the loading bar completes it should bring up a window that says MacOS utilities. If it does there should be no need to follow the steps mentioned in this video, and you should be able to factory reset your computer no problem. However if your computer just boots up to your desktop after holding down (Command R) then that is probably an indication that there is no recovery partition. I which case yes this video should help you get to the MacOS utilities window to factory reset your Mac. Hey I need your help, I put kali Linux on my MacBook Pro 2009-2010, but now I want to reinstall the Mac OS but I can seem to find where to delete the current os and reinstall the Mac OS
Okay, well if you have created a boot drive already, and you have the OS that you want to apply to your Mac on the boot drive, and you want to install it, you should be able to use the drive to prompt a fresh install of the Mac OS. I would imagine that you shouldn't have to delete the current OS, it should automatically just overwrite it. However I personally have never had to overwrite a Linux OS on a Mac, so hopefully what I suggested will work for you. Hope to hear whatever you find out.

Hmm. I guess this is probably a dumb question, but you are using a mac keyboard correct? If you're using a regular pc keyboard I know the locations of the command and options are swapped on a regular keyboard and you have to switch them in the system preferences under the keyboard and modifier keys. Another possible way (might be risky though, try at your own risk) to get it to boot to the drive would be to go to the "system preferences" and select startup disk. Plug in your boot drive and select it to startup the computer after restarting. It will throw an error that won't allow you to boot from external media. You'll have to open the startup security utility, and select allow booting from external media. However this may choose the usb drive as a default startup, and you may encounter issues after you are done using it. Unless you shut it down and unplug the usb drive, and turn on the computer. I would assume that if the computer can't find the usb drive it would boot the hard drive as the startup. This is a guess though. Sorry that you're having such a bad time this, I feel for you. 🙁
That’s not a crazy question at all... I have apple keyboard but it’s wireless... so then I just set up a wired keyboard just to cut out the wireless issue.... I was thinking... is it because my firmware is 4,1 that it won’t open Mojave recovery? Bc on apple site it said the firmware must be updated to download Mojave’s... BACK STORY: I bought this Mac Pro for a private seller and he installed the initial Mojave download on the Mac... the computer is running high Sierra now and apple saying the high Sierra can’t be downloaded on my computer... I’m so confused 🤦🏾♂️
I did your procedure to the letter... first I tried with High Sierra... it wouldn’t download it from apple so with it being in the applications... it wouldn’t work... so .. the Mac DID have the Mohave install in the applications so I followed your video to use it... it worked !! Exactly like you did... so I restarted the Mac and hit the option button at the chime... it went to normal login screen... I did it again with command +R ... nothing ... I did it several times with different keyboards.... nothing 🤷🏾♂️

@@garyking5799 Wow! crazy. A thought, are you running the latest version of High Sierra?
B G G yes it told me my updates were up to date only thing that was out of date was Safari updates...it completed that
I did your procedure to the letter... first I tried with High Sierra... it wouldn’t download it from apple so with it being in the applications... it wouldn’t work... so .. the Mac DID have the Mohave install in the applications so I followed your video to use it... it worked !! Exactly like you did... so I restarted the Mac and hit the option button at the chime... it went to normal login screen... I did it again with command +R ... nothing ... I did it several times with different keyboards.... nothing 🤷🏾♂️
I tried the above procedure untill 5th step as you mentioned. But it says sudo: /Applications/Install: command not found.
Man I can't get high sierrra it says It doesn't exist
He is talking way too much get straight to the point!! 18 minutes wasted
