At 875 fsec out of 4” Glock, I would expect to see around 1075 fsec out of 16” carbine. Should be more than adequate in a self defense scenario. Being flat nosed it shouldn’t have over penetration.
I actually now include accuracy on my newer testing but unfortunately never tested it with these. Recoil/smoothness is not something I can easily judge
I know its a shorty barrel and I'm going to assume the Kahr PM9 has about the same barrel length as the Sig P938 But those are some sad numbers almost weighs the same as your typical .380 acp fmj and traveling barely over a 1000 fps ... I was thinking the Syntec might make for a practice and defense round but you might as well break out the Kahr P380 or the Sig P238 or an LCP II and travel light with a .380 acp fmj that also does about 1000 fps... its not like 20 grains in bullet weight is going to make a big difference...
The 9mm overall is bigger and harder hitting does more damage to shut you down quicker… and I’d take a 9mm glock with a 31 rd mag in it over a 7 to 8 shot 380.
I can't comment on that aspect. I fired 1000s of rounds through these test guns before I even think about cleaning them, so they are very dirty all the time.
with as cheap as HST is from SG Ammo, I would never consider 9mm FMJ for any type of self defense: www.sgammo.com/product/federal/50-round-box-9mm-luger-federal-hst-147-grain-hollow-point-le-ammo-p9hst2
put a .35'' diameter steel rod on your chest then very gently ballance 300 lbs on the other end. then decide how much you want to have a fight with a toddler. please report back. ]
These are nothing more than powder coated or the synthetic equivalent there of, yet the cost $1 more a box. Cheaper for federal to make, I'm sure but they charge more because they "are cleaner to shoot". Until "Syntech" costs 20% less than the competition, my money is going elsewhere
What I don’t understand is polymer is cheaper than copper as a raw material. Yet the polymer coated bullets cost more.
That's what I don't get.
consistency gets my vote
I would like to see a gel test with these. I'm sure it would likely perform as normal FMJ bullets would, but still would be interesting.
Would love to see the velocity out of a 16” carbine, including gel test. Could these be used for self defense?
Don't use self defense, but better than nothing.

Love your channel, keep up the good work, it is appreciated!
+Richard VanHoose Thanks! As simple as it is it provides a lot of info for users and I enjoy doing it
I thinking this is a great video for average speed... my question would be are they shooting smoother, hows the recoil and accuracy

Buffman - R.A.N.G.E. I plan to start shooting these... reading about no metal to metal contact I was thinking smooth firing and reduced recoil...
The synthetic layer is very thin. There will still be some lead engagement on these, but they are made of very soft left.
Good stuff. This is my go to 9mm range ammo. Also use it in my .40

Thank you for this review; very helpful.
In a 5" barrel it makes a power factor of 139? Is that correct? Wouldn't it be too much for USPSA limited minor?
It would be darn close seeing how .05" is not going to give you much velocity.
Is It CLEAN-Barrel, Field Strip result?

They are cleaner.
With it being a soft core bullet. Would it be ok for self defense?

@@BuffRANGE Carried a 9mm every day at work in the military. I'm pretty sure it'd be fine for self defense. Haha
@@Kryptic_Karma fmj will be just fine don’t listen to this guy… he’s one of those ones that think you need a good hollow point to put a man down 😂
@@TheRealB1gA no hes worried about over penetration from the fmj .
nice video and good velocity ammo I think it is less lethal ammo for target practice thanks
It is NOT less lethal, these rounds are just as lethal as regular fmj.
Does it feel slick or tacky?
smoother than copper jacket, not sticky to me at least.
iv heard great stuff about this ammo
It does look like baked on powdercoat. Maybe we can get the Russian ammo manufacturers to make that style of bullet and lower the prices further.

Good shit
Haha, the secret is these bullets won't produce identifiable rifling marks on the rounds they fire
