Just about any new car will run over 100. Most police vehicles will run 130 to 145mph. So if the only crime is speeding, even 140, you want to spike strip them and most likely kill everyone in the car and possibly others. Not taking up for the driver, over 40yrs in law enforcement and related fields here and other countries. Have seen many "pursued to death" over the years. So what's the answer? No perfect one as "no pursuit protocols" seem to be effective. One idea is to have high performance emergency vehicles able to overtake and box the vehicle in. To all Corvette owners: Hey, stop doin that. You're bein stupid and makin us all look bad....

If you search youtube, you can find a chase that shows an ASP Trooper killing a woman with a PIT at 126MPH.... over shoplifting.

Good catch. Right in the center of the screen. Only for two frames. Top headlight in first frame, both headlights in 2nd frame. This is all in a little V shaped area of lower roadway, with the right edge of the building being the left side of the V. The right side of the V is the left side of the square of pavement painted with turn lanes making it shaped like a baseball field, which itself is left of the 3 crosswalks shaped like a U. What is shocking, is that a few seconds later, you can see that he had to drive right past the vehicle with its flashers on, in an area with no other cars. Looks like a car staking the area out but it must have been a random person parked there, to not give chase or report his location.

i got caught after 4 get aways, the 5th time they anticipated where i was going and blocked the street, they'll charge for every light you ran, every law you broke, eluding, wreckless conduct, oas, mine included a class b felony. if that car was stolen that's prob why he ran since that's prob also a felony. i paid nearly $10k for the best lawyer back in 2006 and i still had to serve a month in jail with additional fines and suspension time. that chase was barely 5 mins with no damage caused either

There can only be so many cars fitting that description, in that area. Will they bother to check out the owner of each one of them? I doubt it. Too much work, especially when they'll claim they weren't the driver. Would be cool if someone got a high-resolution photo of the car, the plate, the driver. Just something like custom wheels, any visible modification, any visible stickers, could really pin down the car. Pinning down the driver might be harder, but I wouldn't bet against it. There are cameras EVERYWHERE. There are toll-tag readers, other RFID readers (which can tell you the serial number of a disposable razor in your car), license plate readers, and many more ways to know everywhere that car went in the previous few years, and where it shows up next. If they want to cook this guy's goose, they have the technology to do so, though doing so might reveal sources and methods regarding HOW MUCH data government agencies gather. They might not tell the cops, because the guy isn't a national security threat. What percentage of Corvette owners are women? What percentage of high-speed-chase drivers are women? Multiply the probabilities together, and I wouldn't be too worried about assuming the wrong pronoun.
