It was very wise of you to choose the audio album version. The video version is very distracting, though it shows the Beatles themselves. Nice job with the research and interpretation of the lyrics! It's key to know in this song that Strawberry Field (no letter "s" on the actual place, unlike the title of this song) was a children's orphanage in Liverpool that John, as a boy, would sit and watch the children play. Great review on a magnificent song. PS-a part of Central Park in New York City, not far from the Dakota where John and Yoko lived, has been designated "Strawberry Fields" in honor of John.

McCartney songs are masterful, terrific songs. But they are songs. Lennon songs are all the above, but they are a trippy glimpse into the mind of Lennon. The cadence is incredible.

George Martin actually spliced together two different versions by slowing down one and speeding up the other. At the very end John is saying "cranberry sauce".

Lennon had the best voice of the Beatles, the most interesting lyrics, and his creativity was unmatched. This whole album is sadly often overlooked.
