This has been such a fun set to go after. Even with the potential hobby hits, there's something fun about getting a blue foil in each pack from blasters. Glad they let that be the selling point for retail boxes. I'm with you, the nostalgia of backscatters resembling 90's vending machine stickers is really cool too. Can't wait for more Marvel set releases

I'm glad you've been enjoying it. I hope Upper Deck will continue putting meaningful retail exclusives in the upcoming sets.

Hi Mark! Great vid! I'm only just recently getting back into trading cards (haven't collected since I was a kid). What defines entry-level in the space?

Good question! In my opinion, lower price-point and high availability make for a good entry-level set. Like many collectibles, prices for the few sets released between 2020-2022 were out of control. Prices for Upper Deck non-sports are settling, but still higher than before 2020. These Marvel Annual 21/22 hobby boxes are around $85, and in-stock at the big online retailers. There is also a retail blaster box available for $20-25. They are definitely stocked at Target, and likely Walmart but I'm not completely sure. That helps them be accessible to a wider purchasing base, instead of being limited to enthusiasts willing to spend $300+ on premium hobby boxes.
For Upper Deck Marvel products, the premium products are usually sets like Marvel Masterpieces, Marvel Premier (sketch focused), Fleer Ultra, and Metal ($300-$600ish for a hobby box near release). There are several mid-level sets slated for this year: X-Men vs Avengers Allegiance, Marvel Anime Series 2, and Marvel Beginnings. Those are in the $150-250 range. Hoping to see retail blasters but I'm not sure.
I think the type and value of inserts available would be another good criteria, but that should track along with price for the most part.

Since the brexit, there is absolutely no possible way to obtain blasters/hobby boxes at a decent price for me.i mostly pay 3 or 4 times the retail price with import duties and shipping costs added….it takes away a bit of the magic of collecting for me…still freeking ❤ it though😊
