Just found out your channel. After quite a bit of searching this looks like what I need to level up from my pure basics training to more exciting work 🖖
Thank you so much; even just in the first minute- I learnt soooo much- I hadn't realised the significance of start and end points (that it changes the direction of the animation), I had just been following the instructions of other videos, but not understanding what I was doing. I'm so thankful you made this- Obviously the rest of the video was just brilliant too : )
Thanks Andrea! I am loving layer styles even more these days, lots of fun and experimentation to be had. Quick tip, have a look at the gradient overlay layer style...there are some very unique settings and effects there that are very differnent to your regular gradients...
Thanks for making such fantastic tutorial!!! I've been trying to find out the fundamental concepts and the ins and outs about trim path. And...I found your video 🌟🌟🌟
Great tutorial. And thanks for the project file. I can't figure out who you did the blurry transparent circle. Layer 15 in Animation 2 Final named Blurry cicle. Why is it tranparent and not white as the fill color? I expected it as matte for a duplicated squiggle. But it's not. Could you explain this behaviour?
Thanks! The reason it's transparent is because it is an adjustment layer so any effect I added to it...only gets applied to the layers below. So, it adds the fast blur and CC sphere to the layers below. This means I didn't have to add a matte to every layer that required the blur. Hope that makes sense!
@@MotionXP Thanks a lot for the reply. Now a light dawns on me. And I looked at the file again and again. I wasn't aware that shape layers as adujstment layers behaved like this. Good to know.
Hello, I have a problem, at this moment I don't have an overload so I tried to import the file in the traditional way, the problem is that when I go to animate the path it looks like two paths and it won't let me animate it like you Is it only possible with overload? Thank you very much for the video!
If i have 10 shapes, theres is a way to invert the order that the path animate? Or do i have to change by hand? Ex Shape 1 Shape 2 Shape 3 Shape 4 Shape 5 If i want to animate to 5 to 1?
Hello, I guess I am just stupid because I just don't understand how have you made 3d torus inside the after effects?I saw that you was using illustrator, but I had never used it and I don't understand how does it work. Was this torus imported from illustrator already in 3d or I can can create the same one using only after effects? I am used to figure out everything with myself and it is not comfortable for me to ask questions and spent people's time, but I have been looking for an answer in the internet nearly for a week, and now I have lost any hope to find it. So it would be great if you could help me to figure it out. Thanks
The 3D effect was created using layer styles in After Effects so it is not real 3D. I applied the layers styles to a stroke so it is defintely possible to create everything in after effects. If you watch the full tutorial this will make sense...
So, you need to add an adjustment layer. Add a fast blur/gaussion blur to the adjustment layer and then use the pen tool to add masks to the adjustment layer, where you want the blur. The result will have hard edges to soften them, adjust your mask's feather option. It's a pretty cool effect right? Perhaps I should do a short/reel on this sometime?
the ctrl+alt click on the keyframe to stop the wiggle is a really smart way to solve the issue!

Once you have drag your AI file into your comp, right click and select Creat - Creat Shapes Layer from Vector Layer.

You have to do it by hand unfortunately...

It's work with Ps ? Without Ai?
I wouldn't think so, unless you can somehow important actual paths from photoshop...I have never actually tried this before so I dont actually know...

how did you do the blur on 17:52?

Subbed. Thanks Cameron. Great Tutorial. Where can we find the user presets you used in the tutorial? :)
You can download the project files an then just copy and paste the layer styles to another shape layer.
