The support for USB hubs is one of the best secrets about the Denon DJ gear, which our crew has absolutely taken advantage of when we discovered it. Super nice for like 6 of us at once to just hook up our USB drives into a single Prime Go during a jam at a picnic.
PRIME GO was my best purchase and it keeps improving, and Engine team charges no extra fee or subscription for their products. I really love this approach and that should be respected. Thank you Denon DJ & Engine DJ team for your hard work and dedication :)

I don't understand the DJ industry, why in the world isn't Denon DJ accepted professionally, to the extent that Pioneer is? I mean the hardware is put together so well and really is just as good if not better than Pioneer from a software perspective.
Quality of build and reliability.. all full time djs who actually use and abuse these systems end up siding with pioneer for those reasons.. similar discussion between apple and android .. every apple device I’ve owned has lasted for ever, whereas every android device I’ve owned feels cheap and breaks down in time
You're right, I have used Denon professionally since 2009 when the amazing Dn hd 2500 was offering a rock solid and industry leading solution for playing MP3 and Wav and I used it in clubs all over the UK as that's my job and it was amazing. In fact, I only retired it because the Prime Go came out. The venue I was working had a flagship Pioneer controller, my Go made it look like an antique. That Blue Monday edit killer!! Love my original Prime Go and use it for the reasons you do as a mobile DJ; ceremonies, cocktail hour, small corporate events, backyard bbqs. Beatsource is great for streaming and with the Omni Duo, it wasn’t enough to roll over. My Rekordbox library can easily be put on an SD card and play it with the original Prime Go. Like the new color for sure.
Thaha! I had a feeling that an upgrade would come soon... I literally just bought the Prime Go (along with a Decksaver! Must have!) and a awesome skin to match my other gear (recommended too as it protects aaand can improve readability in bad lighting)... I feel relieved that the Update of Engine 4.1 brings all the essentiall upgrades to the OG too! (Bluetooth out Option and Slipmode being my spotlights). What an awesome machine that I've been watching since the release of it nearly 5 years ago! Thanks for this great review! 🎉Edit: I am happy to say that I do not feel the need to upgrade. That 3 to 3,5 hours battery comparison was great!
Glad to hear you’re happy with your original GO. This is one of those rare occasions where buying the old one just before the new version drops is really not a problem.
One of the biggest problems with the original Prime Go was that it did not have the capability to switch to per-channel VU meters to monitor input level. Denon fixed this with Engine DJ 3.3 released on September 30, 2023. I imagine the Prime Go+ already has this firmware update installed out-of-the-box. Mojaxx, it would have been nice to address this in this video, however, I enjoy your reviews as always!
Thanks so much for covering this unit so early on! I just bought my Prime Go some months ago and held my breath for a moment here, but now I cannot believe how little of a change the + version offers... I would have expected tiltable screen, mic EQs, optimized knob layout to make the jogwheels a little bigger while keeping the unit's size THE SAME! (to me it mustn't be any inch taller, bc everything taller is not as portable anymore - the actual size is perfect for the features it offers!). also I would have expected speakers and significant more battery life... brightness adjustment for the knobs and buttons bc in dark enviroments its way to bright (I put led dim stickers on mine, which works fine tho). also an internal little kickstand would be awsome, like the MOFT adhesive laptop stand (which I can highly recommend). and ofc faster and automatic internal batch analysing of new tracks on your usb drive or sd card without the need for a pc or laptop beforehand. and a killer feature would be to be able to connect rotating motorized midi platters with proper size like 7 or 10 inch... also the ability to control serato on a laptop and to use it as an audio interface for your laptop for recording from the mic inputs, make it possible to plugin a guitar as well and use internal effects for that... EDIT: forgot the most important practical feature request: free semitone key-changes for each deck like +- 3 to 5 semitones depending on a still playable quality or up to an octave for effect purposes! long (imaginary) story short. GLAD I can sit back and just keep my O.G. GO ;) and even got yet another new firmware update for free... I can imagine they'll stop supporting the OG GO now that the GO+ is out, but who knows... I LOVE THIS UNIT. I played all my festival gigs with it and unlike my laptop, it never let me down once!
For an old skool DJ, The Prime Go is a great system to work on. I have my Thump Go with me when I travel, and both are so convenient for me when I spin. The battery life leaves something to be desired but overall, the Prime Go is a great system to use. I've had mine since they came out and I'm very happy with it. Thanks for the comparison. I thought the same thing. No need to upgrade. I wish that you can do custom loops like on the SC5 & 6000. Once that can be done, I will be the happiest...About the USB. Fooling around I connected 2HD's on there and it worked...Who knew?
Its not that surprising, its basically a mini Linux PC inside, you can also add a keyboard, at one point you could plug in a mouse and get a cursor but I think that has been "fixed" lol
Ive always known this. I use a USB hub on my Prime4 and a small compact Keyboard which i put to the side. I have big hands and fingers, so prefer to quickly do searches using a real keyboard.
The whole of the first few minutes sounded like Mojave was talking about the MPC One Plus! I mean the removal of Ethernet but ability to use a USB hub...
I have owned the Prime Go for a little over 2 years. I absolutely love it. The first weekend I owned it i used it for over 8 hours at a wedding with zero hick ups. I now use it for all my smaller bar gigs and wedding ceremonies. Only thing I wish they would have added was the ability to route effects to the microphones. I also use this at Karaoke gigs with my laptop.
I was thinking of buying the prime go for a while and found a great deal on a brand new prime go so decided to go for that as the changes on the plus didn’t justify the price increase for me.
Thanks Mojaxx. Again a wonderful review and I'm still sooo happy with my prime go. I recently shed my prime 4 and slightly miss the phono inputs but hey ho.
Used is as backup controller for +2 years. Great piece of hardware I could easily bring with me. Also got UDG backpack which fitted all cable, extra laptop + extra cables accessories etc. I have been able to play in two places at once which have saved me couple of times. With that said, I really do not like the time it takes to prep music in ENGINE, sync to usbs, small screen and the not having the possibility to connect laptop to ENGINE DJ with bigger screen, since its just a music prepping software. It is a great mobile controller, but after I switched to bigger one (Prime 4) I did not see the need to use it besides when I had to be in 2 places at once during some large events. This could easily be replaced with an iPad so not really worth it in my case.
I love my OG Prime Go, it’s a versatile unit that’s heaps of fun, ultra portable and has the majority of features I’d practically use at my gigs (especially when I know it’s an outdoor gig and it’s hot. The Go+ looks pretty cool and I’m sure it’ll be a popular unit…. But for the additional functionality it’s not quite enough for me to sell my OG and spend more $
Can't wait to update from Mixstream Pro; while the Numark is handy with it's speakers, this will fit better on my desktop next to Korg Minilogue. Don't care much about the battery (for now) but, it will come extremely handy for recs on the flights for example. Looking for the original GO better deal as well.
Glad to hear that they improved the VU meters. I haven’t really paid attention to mine through the updates. Can you check the levels for individual tracks yet? Or is it only still the master out?
@@DjMarkyBatch Thanks. I found it under the options. It would have been nice if the track levels had been on the screen and they left the master levels on the VU. Or maybe hitting cue would show the track levels and master when nothing is cued.
Still love my prime go. Its been a fun way to jam outside of the studio . As far as hearing thr mic in the headphones can you not just adjust the cue / master blend knob to get them in the headphones??

I would love to see a version with a speakerbar built in at the bottom the same way InMusic hasndone on the AKAI mpc live 2. Since both Denon and Akai use many of the same parts, I don't see why this wouldn't be possible. Also having a fulky portabke system with speakers ia awesome. Us maybe 2 or 3 usb ports so you can connect the denon lc6000 controllers.
Love the Review. I don't think Denon did enough with this. And I have to respectfully disagree with your comparison to the Numark Mixstream Pro Go. The Numark is better and more professional in every way. Numark is battery operated too, much better jogs, built-in speakers, effects paddles, and most importantly it's compatible with Serato. All this makes it a much better backup unit
Funny because Numark is also InMusic’s brand, the hardware really feels like it goes out of the same factory (I have an MPC, I can tell you they put the same speakers on the Numark controllers, pretty sure they’re similar to the ones on the Prime 4)
I think the Mixstream is a fantastic device, but it feels much cheaper to me, when it comes to the build quality. It also doesn’t have a booth output, has less FX, one less mic, and most importantly for me, is too big to fit into anything but the most giant of backpacks. All of that make the GO/GO+ more ‘pro’ to me, but I can understand your position.
I agree 100%. Talking down the Numark Mixstream Pro Go as amateurish and saying the Denon is "professional"... no, no, no. The Numark is way more professional than the Denon.
@@Mojaxx exactly, the form factor is critical here. one inch wider in any direction would make the GO too big already. it has just the perfect size, but I think there would be a way making the jogs a little bigger without having to enlarge the unit itself... a tiltable/"dettachable" screen could be the answer... or drawer style jogwheels or sth like that xD
I’ve had Prime go for about 2 years now and love it. Is it worth upgrading to the + for the Amazon music integration? I think I already know the answer.😉
I have my favourites (obviously) but I genuinely think Amazon is the most lacking of any of the services they have on there. I’d suggest you try all of the rest before you make that rather expensive upgrade!
I love my Go had it since release, my biggest annoyance is the single USB port, if you want to use Soundswitch your usb ports are basically all taken up meaning you have to carry a USB hub around with you. They should have added another 1 or 2 on this refresh.
Hey, full-time Denon user over here... This is really promising looking... HOWEVER I'm concerned that there has been zero love given to the "flagship" products from Denon. I use an SC6000M + x1850 mixer every night and the only reason I haven't bought a second one is it seems like they're just letting these product lines hang out to dry. Are they just trying to push everyone into the all-in-ones and away from the modular dual-layer setup? Engine OS is absolutely awesome, but they've really got me looking at Algoriddim DJ just because that company seems to REALLY care about keeping the full product line updated
I mean, to be fair, has there a been a single upgrade for Engine which HASN’T supported the 6000 - aside from features which wouldn’t make sense, like the Bluetooth output? Seems to me like they’ve been supporting those very nicely.
I'm glad they bumped the processor/mainboard. That was probably the most disappointing thing about the Prime 4+, which has everyone wondering about the power of the processor has the umph to push stems. I've had the go in my cart a dozen times in the past 4 years but never pulled the trigger. I probably could get it now and be happy with it, but my business needs are changing and really haven't decided what direction to do. Decisions Decisions. Good cast and Thank you.
The prime go is up there with the most innovative dj products in the history of djing…… Cdj 1000mk3 Serato scratch live Cdj 2000 Sc5000/5000m NWM Phase Denon Prime Go These were all prime examples of when companies just changed the hardware world for the better, iv owned them all 😂 i cant wait for the next ‘BIG’ defining product to be released, it def wont be from Pioneer/Alpha, thats for sure!
This Plus had to have a user replaceable cross fader. My prime go's bleeds and was trash in a month. And you need to be a surgeon to be able to add an inno fader. Shame as its a awesome bit of kit
Omnis Duo is weak 1. Bluetooth input not great. Takes a very long time to load a short track 2. Only 1 USB input. Cannot plug 2 USBs at the same time for b2b. Cannot use a USB hub either. One dj must use SD card and other one USB stick. what are the odds a dj carries an SD card formated into Rekordbox in a bar or into a club... 3. Slightly difficult to select the effects on the screen. One xlr mic one 1/4 No streaming No gated hit cues Microphone distortion gaun balance Battery drain after a few weeks Echo step adjust glitch

I'm a Serato DJ but I dont understand why you'd want or need serato support with this? its a STANDALONE device. Why on earth would you want to tether a laptop to it???!
played all my festival gigs with my prime go... before that I did with an unstable laptop + akai amx setup and the prime go couldnt be more practical for travelling to festivals bringing your own small portable unit and feel at home anywhere, yet high quality sounding unit that fits in a mid sized backpack!
@@djstuc My comment is an expression of dissatisfaction with the product being hyped here. Numark managed to build a portable controller with large jog wheels suitable for scratching, with built in speakers, longer battery life, at a cheaper price. The Prime Go+ is not the "professional" option, but garbage compared to the Mixstream Pro Go.
@@BurstupTV agree 100000%. Not a single ounce of innovation here to make a product a little better. When pioneer / alpha does this the whole millennial and below DJ crowd cries and goes nutz. Why not do same to Denon. First release I am soooo disappointed about. Mixstream pro go blows this away minus the expanded suite of Denon Fx.

No Serato support is the deal breaker
why would you want to tether a laptop to this???
What about STEMS? Anything like it for this controller??
Any Bluetooth LE Audio / Auracast support?
OK, nice piece even in that tiny size, but where is master tempo? on screen maybe?
Thank you for this review.
However, it's no more possible to connect to Engine library PC to Wifi or USB ? I always use the RJ45 connexion ...
Did I miss the new smart headphone que part 😊
Wasn't the ethernet for resolume or soundswitch lighting?
The prime go is up there with the most innovative dj products in the history of djing……
Cdj 1000mk3
Serato scratch live
Cdj 2000
Sc5000/5000m
NWM Phase
Denon Prime Go
These were all prime examples of when companies just changed the hardware world for the better, iv owned them all 😂 i cant wait for the next
‘BIG’ defining product to be released, it def wont be from Pioneer/Alpha, thats for sure!
This Plus had to have a user replaceable cross fader. My prime go's bleeds and was trash in a month. And you need to be a surgeon to be able to add an inno fader. Shame as its a awesome bit of kit
good point! innofader support!!!
Hey Mojaxx, if the Omnis Duo had streaming services which would you choose and why?
Omnis Duo is weak
1. Bluetooth input not great. Takes a very long time to load a short track
One xlr mic one 1/4
No streaming
No gated hit cues
Microphone distortion gaun balance
Battery drain after a few weeks
Echo step adjust glitch
10 AM Eastern Standard Time. You need to adjust the TIME ZONE in TH-cam
That’s all Phil 😂
can you remove the battery for reduced weight?
Is there a way to disable the crossfader?
Yes, it's in the settings main page
I used to get annoyed with the Prime 4 having that same mic headphone monitoring issue, have they fixed that?
Woaw, o have the go i was waiting for the new drop but this is def not anything that makes me wanna buy this haha. Love to Go tho best unit when traveling
whats the new processor?
Hi, for some reason I can't connect my soundclound anymore. Any suggestions on how to sort this? Thanks
FINALLY!!!!!
Any word on stems? Will the more powerful processor support it?
is it actually a better processor?
@swz_tor i saw that claim on one of the reviewers video nothing official. Claims better/more efficient cpu allows better battery life
Has the Prime Go + a better sound chip? Thx Mo
All Denon kit use the ESS Sabre 32bit DAC's, which is the same as a CDJ3000.
Thanks 🎉
@@dj_paultuk7052denon prime 4 sound was crappy.. denon mc3000 was even better
Not what I was waiting for. Looks like I am going Mixstream Pro Go
I love mine!
you are the review master.
your voice is killin' it, too.
imo, with this clear voice of yours, you could work as a voice actor in foreign films. as always, you get a like for this review. even i am just a vinyl junkie.
No tilt screen? Pass…
@@bboymac84natural you gotta pass, it's just a toy, or maximum a backup in a worst case scenario.
go with vinyl. feel, listen, experience and enjoy the difference. i recommend that you buy fewer songs on 12" vinyl with lots of remixes (since 12" vinyl isn't cheap), but instead buy the best of the best.
and not unnecessary bs commercial lalala music on a digital format.
@@abumc5104 huh. Just give me a tilt screen and stems and I’m good!
@bboymac84 even if i could, i'd never give digital bs to anyone.
vinyl only until the end.
one day you'll know why.
@@abumc5104 I had vinyl. I’m good
Does engine have stems?
Hello
Still no way to view channel and master volume simultaneously 😬
Nice
Maybe in 5 years when engine DJ has standalone Stem separation or accepts Traktor m4a Stem Files..
It came out 4 years ago, so 4 years later they bring out the same thing with a few tweeks.. wtf..
If it’s not broken don’t fix it. The go is a brilliant bit of kit and a tweak is always good to keep up with the times
What did it keep up with. Amazon music 😂. This is a joke. I’m not upgrading. For Amazon music
@@donaldccannon1 Amazon music is rubbish I know that. The go is good bit of kit.
I like it,but to resale the original to buy basically the same thing, dose make a whole lot of cent
You know on the prime go you can add a keyboard or wireless keyboard to type
No Amazon chip?
The amazon chip should be inside
No tilt screen…?? Ughhh pass!!!
A slanted laptop stand works great. My stand has built in cooler fans
I'm a Serato DJ but I dont understand why you'd want or need serato support with this? its a STANDALONE device. Why on earth would you want to tether a laptop to it???!
For more flexibility. I use my one with VDJ sometimes as a video DJ and it's great.
Bruh lemme use lc6000s
4 years later and no design improvements is insane. What is this fifa 😅
after so long denon could do alot better .boring denon .thank you mojack for your good reviews
Ethernet port users unite!
Alpha theta = club, festival
Denon DJ = mobile disco, bedroom
It's easy to spot the people who have no experience of these units because they make sweeping statements like you just have 😂😂
@@DJWenlowe that's exactly what you've just done ✅
Think before you comment my friend 🤝
played all my festival gigs with my prime go... before that I did with an unstable laptop + akai amx setup and the prime go couldnt be more practical for travelling to festivals bringing your own small portable unit and feel at home anywhere, yet high quality sounding unit that fits in a mid sized backpack!
???
The tiny jog wheels are ridiculous and completely unsuitable for scratching.
good thing this device is not targeted at turntablelists
People must be buying these else Denon wouldn’t be launching a replacement. Maybe it’s just not for you. You know not everything is for you?
I’ve heard that people who are really into scratching use turntables.
STILL only 4 cue points. STILL only VDJ native support, STILL, STILL, STILL NO. COME ON INMUSIC! STOP CUTTING CORNERS! WE WILL PAY FOR IT!
First
Lame controller im my opinion
There speaks someone who has never used one 😂
you can't imagine how much of a blessing this little standalone unit when you travel a lot playing festivals and need a reliable functional controller for proper djing!!!
But Mo, where is the rose gold, the wood trim, the curvy top that you like so much!!! 🥸🥸🥸
LOL
