Hey folks....If I had known that we were being filmed and subsequently posted on TH-cam, I wouldn't have bothered with the Phil Collins/delay douchebaggery! But during soundcheck one night we noticed the similarities between the two songs (chords in the keyboard intro), and had a nice laugh about it. (Further proof, as Frank Zappa said, that ouring makes you crazy.) My apologies to anyone who took offense at the sloppy mash-up. Seek out our "Live In Madrid" performance with Mr. Parsons and you'll get a proper rendering of your song.
John Montagna hi John ! I'm absolute fan of you since I heard live in Madrid ! You're not only a great bass player, groove / I robot and you also sang others title as a master ! Very near from the original singers ! This lineup was my fav after the former members as bairnson paton and cottle's bros. Geoffrey and you were the only able to stand bairnson and Paton ! I don't like the new lineup since 2010. Greene is catastrophic guitarist and still sing this song weirdly... I regret Parson changed you and Geoffrey for these faggots. You rules, John !
I love his singing There was another live one with him dinging this where he has a white t shirt on with short blue sleeves I can't find it it's to me even BETTER John Montagna love your renditions
Excellent! I didn't know you guys were from N.Y.! Great band and that guitarist is insanely good. The current guitarist with A.P.P. is a really good player but this dude just has a feel and technique that launches him to another level. Fantastic player!
What all of you don’t know is this is the guy who did the vocals on the original song years ago. Alan parsons brought a series of studio musicians in to help with his songs. This man was one of them.
I don't know where Alan lives, but his band is here on Long Island, NY and on their downtime sometimes played at this place, Cannos, which is now no more.
Very Very Cool! The conversation with the sound guy is what makes this vid authentic! The drummer is FAR from overplaying! Please! My band is contemplating covering this tune ,not sure if I can keep the back beat through the whole thing. Gonna be tough!
Yeah I agree. This is not a great version. I recommend they go buy an "I Robot" CD and LISTEN...The version with Lenny Zakatek is frenetic and had an edge missing in this version. This is a bar band with a great lead guitarist, but does not resemble APP at all!!
All and all Good you should get the lyrics right though .I wouldn't want to talk to you .second part of verse one but good vocalist just back of the lounge singer performance parts .
That's the thing with the progressive rock bands every artist is attached to that certain song for example any with this song and then you have dairy polka with the limelight and then you have the artist linked with that soon and when you hear someone else sing it it's just not the same for example I heard Bonnie Tyler sing limelight it was disgusting it should have been for Gary Brooker Gary Puckett sings that song friends and nobody else can he shouldn't have other people singing that song
Good singer and bass player, but what an ego. Can't see Alan Parsons laid back personality putting up with that very long. Well I guess he didn't because he is no longer with him. They did sound really good together though. Better than the band Alan Parsons has now.
The lead singer is a jabroni. Lenny or Chris Thompson are worlds better on this song then this guy. Stick to the bar scene dude. I agree, work out your song changes in practice.

Good Guy John Montagna
I think live in madrid is perfect
Everyone should watch it that is a fan of the Alan Parsons Project

Watching on YT your performance Live in Madrid actually made me want to look you up on the Net. I was like "Who's that?!! And what an amazing voice!".
Ive always loved this live version the most. Not only the more intimate setting, but the band and vocals are immpecable together. Beautiful.
This is John Montagna he and the guitar player played with Alan Parsons in 03
this guy singing is awesome just the way it is great live!
Nice!
great tribute to Mr. Parsons and his project!
I love the guitar part when drag at the strings
congratulations for everybody
5 stars!
I loove this guys' voice!!!
Despite the douchbaggery at the start (which he should have handled beforehand), this cat has a really crystal clean voice, and this came off well.
Ace Ha I feel the same way. Not exactly professionals but definitely musicians.
I'd say playing playing with the Alan Parsons Project is pretty professional.
Didn’t really seem like that to me
that was excellent, great singing! I'm impressed!
all in all. Super Duper Massively NICE!!! Well done John.
I really like this. Well done.
I love his singing
There was another live one with him dinging this where he has a white t shirt on with short blue sleeves I can't find it it's to me even BETTER John Montagna love your renditions
Fantastic!!! Best solo ever!! ;-)
Gary, first time I saw this song played in live version. The bass is amazing. Thanks a lot.
Excellent! I didn't know you guys were from N.Y.! Great band and that guitarist is insanely good. The current guitarist with A.P.P. is a really good player but this dude just has a feel and technique that launches him to another level. Fantastic player!
Fantastico biutiful
Love this song, only Lenny and John can sing this right...
Arguably, Chris could also do it justice: th-cam.com/video/DpPnfu6eF4E/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for the post !
GREAT !
superb guys!!!
very very very good !!!!!
Impresionante!!!!
My fav incarnation of the APP.
Talented dude . Shouldn't have to apologize to you tube douches... play on brother John !!
What all of you don’t know is this is the guy who did the vocals on the original song years ago. Alan parsons brought a series of studio musicians in to help with his songs. This man was one of them.
i refine: The best cover of that song on the internet!
A friend of mine asked me what I was listening to as opposed to soul or disco and THIS WAS ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
good job!
Right on !!
well done
Amazing band, everyone is fantastic. and the Phil Collins, I thought was genius.
nice voice!
Great voice
Wow
I don't know where Alan lives, but his band is here on Long Island, NY and on their downtime sometimes played at this place, Cannos, which is now no more.
What a great group of musicians. Well done. You guys ever get up to Minnesota? ;)
Genial! Acabo de ver este video y cantas mejor que el último cantante de Alan Parsons
Yes, yes Eduard beautiful.
Nice pull
@RangRing68 this version or live in madrid version is better than the cd record
Alan Parson engineered and is the electronics marvel that partly responsible for the greatest álbum of all time: Pink Floyd,s "Dark Side Of The Moon".
I'm a huge John Montagna fan.
Me alegro que está joya este en GTA 5
John Montagna vocals +bass
As long as the band isn't Alan Parsons, it will always be a cover.
MrMrEFE Yes, that is sort of the point of a cover isn't it
Why are people yacking during the whole song? Also, guitarist did play with Alan Parsons.
So did the drummer. Steve Murphy.
I think Alan lives in Calif. Go John and gang.
that's godfrey townsend on the other guitar - yes, HE is cool.. :)
Very Very Cool! The conversation with the sound guy is what makes this vid authentic! The drummer is FAR from overplaying! Please!
My band is contemplating covering this tune ,not sure if I can keep the back beat through the whole thing. Gonna be tough!
The singer is GOOD. The other guy on guitatr is good and is familiar. He is cool.
The groove was killer. The vocal was great. The Phil Collins thing was stinky cheese.
I need a quick slap back delay!
rhrrrhrhhhrrrrrrr....ay rim mehhmbah..........
@@SteveCarrDrivesAPrius
- Hey Rob on sound, can you hear me? At the.." iiiiiiin (noise )
- Number one don't do that again!
Fantastic
Would this be Alan Clark singing this song and the original one as well ?
That's John Montagna, part of Alan Parson's touring band at the time
Ok thanks for letting me know that because I wasn’t sure
Stevie Nicks stole the delay sound at the beginning of the original studio version of this song from Alan Parsons on her song 'Edge of 17'
0:57
Was it a very old song..?
Yeah I agree. This is not a great version. I recommend they go buy an "I Robot" CD and LISTEN...The version with Lenny Zakatek is frenetic and had an edge missing in this version. This is a bar band with a great lead guitarist, but does not resemble APP at all!!
This fine vocals work clearly explains why Lenny isn't playing with APP anymore.
great performance in contrast with the singer's bad attitude
All and all Good you should get the lyrics right though .I wouldn't want to talk to you .second part of verse one but good vocalist just back of the lounge singer performance parts .
Go to the same song from Alan Parsons Madrid 2004, same guitarist and bassist/vocalist, with much better sound.
uma pena, a velocidade está lenta.
Professionalism
A beat too slow, but over all good.
That's the thing with the progressive rock bands every artist is attached to that certain song for example any with this song and then you have dairy polka with the limelight and then you have the artist linked with that soon and when you hear someone else sing it it's just not the same for example I heard Bonnie Tyler sing limelight it was disgusting it should have been for Gary Brooker Gary Puckett sings that song friends and nobody else can he shouldn't have other people singing that song
gta 5
Im not sure you can call that a true cover...that is the original guitarist playing...not sure about the rest of em.
The great Lenny Zakatek is not losing any sleep over this no talent impersonator.
Where is Lenny Zakatek? This sucks
Sorry you miss Lenny. He's in Spain, I think. This was at a bar in Long Island, thousands of miles away from Lenny.
John Montagna Jonn, , you did GREAT. We all post drunk sometimes like Jar.
This is a better vocal than Lenny gave us on "Vocal 84"
Don't ruin the song pre-madonna...just play.
He's good, but has no Lenny...
Patrick Waldeck but, he is really good.
I completely agree with you he's no Lenny's that's like Bonnie Tyler singing limelight instead of Gary Brooker
anyone who appreciates the project and Eric is ok in my book
Good singer and bass player, but what an ego. Can't see Alan Parsons laid back personality putting up with that very long. Well I guess he didn't because he is no longer with him. They did sound really good together though. Better than the band Alan Parsons has now.
The drummer is overplaying. He needs to cool it.
The lead singer is a jabroni. Lenny or Chris Thompson are worlds better on this song then this guy. Stick to the bar scene dude. I agree, work out your song changes in practice.
This is called ruining a great song !
This is sooooo terrible. Makes Edith Bunker sound like Beverly Sills. The lead singer should be castrated.
LENNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LOL!! I guess they didn't have a chance to rehearse with the FOH engineer
