Penge - it’s near South Norwood and Crystal Palace in South London. And now it has an anthem. My dad worked there for a bit.

in london bus no.40 goes to Penge - The name Penge derives from Celtic words meaning 'head of the wood'; Pencoed in Wales has exactly the same origin. This is one of the few Celtic place names in London and suggests the survival of a native British contingent after Anglo-Saxon colonisation. Penge is one of the few places in London with an original celtic name. The settlement developed initially in the Green Lane area and, over the centuries, spread outwards. There is a Welsh and Cornish element in the word Penge which means 'top or edge of the wood', the wood being the Great North Wood.

I live in penge in South East London, and apparently sid and his mum lived in maple Road in penge and sid was born in Lewisham hospital where my grandparents lived in the middle tower block opposite Lewisham hospital. And I originally come from forest Hill where Don letts lived.

Hey Johnny and all PIL people. This is another amazing tune! I have been inspired and a follower of your music since 1977. i also play, and at this moment in time am stagnating, trying to find a way to find people who can help me find an audience / interest in my "Strawman" project (dave tommo you tube channel). Cant even afford a packet of backy at the moment! BTW John I did well up the other day when I heard about Nora. Love you brother. You have always seemed like a distant relative who i have never met.
