Great video and good to hear your voice, Cindy! Good to see you’re enjoying la dolce vita 😘😘🥂🍾
I enjoyed your story. Greetings to you from Southern California. It looks that you have found a beautiful city to live in. I wish you the very best. 🙏❤
grazie! I appreciate your good wishes!
Great video, and presenter. Thank you ma’am 🙏 This is a good video and you seem genuine.
been to italy twice (mostly rome, milan and venice areas). had a number of unfortunate interactions where despite being a tourist spending money, enjoying the surroundings in a civil and sensible manner faced racial abuse. At one incident, my brother and I were spit at. We are Canadians of Indian origin.
I enjoyed the art, food and dolce vita vibe especially since I grew up amongst Italians here in Toronto, but I would rather go somewhere and spend my time and money where I'd be respected.
Glad to hear you have had a great time. Best wishes
Thank you. Enjoyed this one. Italy is top of my list. As a US retiree though I can't find much information about tax liability on my retirement income if become a resident. Inheritance tax too for my kids. Does International Living have a tax resources?
Glad you enjoyed it! 🇮🇹 You have a couple of options for tax info:
✅ Our country resources include tax-related details for different destinations.
✅ We have a dedicated guide on expat taxes here: www.ilbookstore.com/expat-taxes-2024.
✅ You can also book a consultation with Ted Baumann, who can walk you through your specific situation: secured.globalcitizenliving.com/journey/120SZTCC3-EVG/1?promocode=W1204303&origin=ILPOSTCA&origin_type=list&organization-abbreviation=ILProd.
Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions. 😊
@internationalliving thank you! That's a big help.
Love to be your neighnor. Lived in Aviano for ten years. Love italy
Buongiorno! Did you use an agency to assist you with immigration? Any suggestions? I’m spending 85 days in Rome, Florence, & Bologna this Spring, exploring and planning my move by the end of 2025. I’m also learning ltalian. Grazie mille!
Buona sera! Yes - I worked with Futura Cidadania - they were wonderfully patient and thorough.
Surprised that Italian citizenship can be conferred without a language requirement. True?
Yes, it’s true! Italian citizenship by ancestry does not require a language test. If you qualify through an Italian ancestor, you can apply without proving Italian proficiency. I considered Europe and then one day woke up to the fact that Europe is 20 years behind China. I'd rather live in China and enjoy the comforts and convenience of their modern cities.
It's so wonderful to find places that fit each of us and our needs. I'm heading to China to visit in a few weeks!
Youre paying that much? Youre getting robbed. But youll get robbed sooner or later in palermo honey.
Is this a black friendly place. Racism is a consideration for some.
That's a great question - hoping someone here can answer and help you with this. I'm not sure. Mi dispiace!
Depends on whether racism against blacks and people of colour is less than where you are from. It is everywhere. You just have to pick the lesser evil.
I have cousins in Sicily. Thats where half my ancestry is from. I have lived there for extended period's of time. I wouldn't live there and least of all in overcrowded, garbage loaded streets, if you paid me. Meanwhile we hear dogs barking and kids yelling right in your video. Good luck. Sicily stinks.
