A once in a lifetime Mountain Goat tag, drew by Austin Cain of OTC Outdoors in Washington State, filmed/produced by Brayden Davis, also of OTC Outdoors.
Enjoy this featured length 4K film presented by OTC Outdoors, following along Austin and his closest friends and family as they traverse some of the prettiest, yet rugged country Washington state has to offer, climbing among some of the gnarliest rock 'Chutes' and mountain cliffs, in pursuit of the world renowned Mountain Goat.
After scouting all summer, it came to October, which held the tough decision on "the one". Watch as the crew traverses through the mountain chutes in chase of the trophy Billy, to put his once in a life time tag on.

Hands down one of the best goat hunt's I've ever got to watch and how exciting to see it happen on a mountain that I hunt the basins. An have watched these boogers bounce around up there for years in the spotting scopes

What a great well put together film! As a resident of SW Washington that has been putting in for 20 years and has fully accepted the fact I may never draw a goat tag it was awesome to stumble upon this and be able to live vicariously through you guys. Congratulations young man. I put in for those tags for 23 years before I left Washington. I drew a moose tag back in 94. Got a moose up by Lake. Ione never did get the sheep or the goat tag. I live in Tennessee now.

Nice goat, WA is an amazing state with a lot of game. Wish our state would do a better job of management for us. What unit or area were you in? Cascades?

Maybe spend a lot more time at the range perfecting your marksmanship. That's evidenced by the second shot mainly but the third shot was high by a few inches for the heart. Not really sure where the first shot hit but not a premium placement there either. If you were able the final shot while it was rolling down the hill trying to get up would have been good. Good job of stalking though. I just hate to see an animal suffer because of an ill placed shot. BTW I started goat hunting in the late 70's in Glacier Peak Wilderness and later in Olympic National Park to thin the numbers after the dept of fish and game relocated some.
Hey there, as you can see when it’s slowed down, the first shot was ‘premium’ placement , right behind the shoulder, couldn’t have been any better, double lung. The spotter saw the ripple and thought it hit back, so being jacked up on adrenaline, he shot another round aiming higher and forward because the spotter wrongly said he hit back. He then slowed down, and shot the 3rd shot even though the animal was seconds away from expiring from the first shot, dropping the animal, lights out, high should. There was no suffering.
Also, Shooting an animal while it’s rolling would not have been a good decision like you’re suggesting, as it would be more likely to hit not where you want it either wasting meat or just unnecessary as the goat is rolling down the hill at a fast speed. I don’t think there much need to ‘perfect’ the marksmanship, when the first shot was only perfect, followed by the 3rd shot ending the life quicker. Thanks for your thoughts though!
