Rode up these trails out to the end of Sunset yesterday. What a view from the top! Great work on repairing the trails after the fire. I’ll have to find older vids to see what these looked like before the logging and fire. What a great trail system y’all have so close to town.
I have one from Sep, 2018 if you want to go back and check it out. Title: "Mt Elden Trails: Flagstaff, AZ" It's Sunset from the lookout, to Upper Brookbank, to Jedi, to Schultz. All pre-logging and fire. 👍 I'm actually really thankful I have that vid. It will never look the same.
It was quite a bit better before, but I was also kinda expressing my feelings in the moment.😂 It's still a great trail! It's just been frustrating watching them systematically homogenize it for the last 15 years.
Hi - I might be attending NAU next year and I'm an avid mountain biker. This trail system, as well as others in Flagstaff, look absolutely incredible. My question is how often the trails in Flagstaff are accessible during the school year (August to May). With snow and, as you said in this video - logging, I'm curious as to if they'd even be available for riding for most of the time I'd be there.
Most trails here are rideable until mid November, or so, then snow covered until April or May. Most of us ride Sedona all winter. Only a 40 min drive away, and world class trails. 👍 Unfortunately, most of our best trails burned down last summer, and so far, I haven't heard any word on when they'll be repaired, if ever. Still plenty of great trails around tho..
Good one ChumpMTB. I know that feeling when they log and everything is different. Happened down at the Shed for us and it still doesnt look right. Hang in there. Just think you have the Mecca for mtbing just right down the road from you. :)
The fire is still ongoing. No access to any of the trails, likely for several more weeks. From the satellite imagery it looks like Schultz and everything North and West were spared. It appears sections of Sunset/Brookbank/and many of the trails to the East and around Dry Lakes probably took heavy damage..

@@chumpmtb2554 Thanks a bunch! Great vid!
I rode this trail for the first time last week and loved it! Didn’t even realize it was better before 😂

Yep, being Mecca adjacent is pretty sweet ;)
Good day 😁
Yessir!
where's a good place to park to ride this trail
There are parking lots at both ends of the trail. The lower is called "The Y" and us located where Schults Pass and Elden Lookout rd split 👍
How is it now after the fire?
Got Strava or Trailforks route to see the new trail? Thx.

Complain much? I get the reroute. But just be happy you are riding
No need apologize. The reroute pisses me off too. I’m sure that you and I aren’t the only ones unimpressed by what’s been done there.
I had a feeling I wouldn't be the only one disappointed..
Maybe next time we will just get a wildfire to thin it.
