Canadian women's soccer players “disrespected” by the release of details in proposed labour deal

  • Canadian women's soccer players Christine Sinclair and Janine Beckie spoke about what they called unfair treatment and unequal pay compared to the men’s national team.
Beckie discussed Canada Soccer's decision to release details of the proposed labour deal with the national team just hours ahead of some of its members testifying before the House of Commons heritage committee. She said the players felt they were disrespected by Canada Soccer releasing the details that afternoon instead of keeping it between the governing body and the teams.
Sinclair said that while they would prefer to be playing on the soccer pitch, they are proud to be testifying in an effort to make soccer better for the next generations.

It is a sport, like many sports, based on revenue, revenue from sports come mostly from sponsorship, selling of tickets, and merchandise. Depending on the revenue the team makes, will mostly determine how much the club is able to afford what the club can spend, weather its a male or womens sport. SO the more revenue the club brings in the more the club can invest in their own club including athletes wages and support Simple. In reality, mens soccer, and maybe in many other sports, are watched much more.
