@@trailguy The Apple is the reference design from the 6502. There are yt videos on how to build your own n a breadboard, it is not really innovative there were a number of kit manufacturers producing equivalent machines...KIM-1. Wozniak wrote the monitor and BASIC. It was development, but nothing that you couldn't hire an engineer off of the street to create. The knowledge was not as commonplace then as it is now, but it wasn't secret or even hard to find.
He got the idea of the GUI and the laser printer from PARC which was the next 'innovation'. Maybe his only real innovation was turning the computer from a tan box under-the-desk into a peace of art or a fad and postscript. The iphone and subsequent developments were well underway at various other companies. There hasn't been anything in the last 30 years that isn't 'predicted' in Kurzweil's book _The Age of Spiritual Machines,_ everything else is just an engineering problem to solve. Jobs was able to show people that they wanted things that they did not know they wanted

Now fast forward to today. I don't know the numbers, but with any technology, you're never truly safe from hacking or others getting your information. People need to understand the risk before creating sensitive digital data. I'm hopeful for the new generations growing up with it that at least they'll understand the dangers. But unfortunately we give them devices before they are old enough to understand or care in many cases.

Tom’s take on the 30% issue is way off.
There are so many holes in the “t-shirt at Macy’s” analogy. In your analogy, if the cut Macy’s is demanding for my t-shirt is too much, then I might go to JCPenny’s and see if they’ll take a 20% cut instead of 30%. There is no competitor for Apple’s App Store nor can their be (by Apple’s design).
Additionally, Apple is not providing developers with any service to warrant taking a cut. In your take, you say Apple deserves a cut because they made the phone. By that logic, Microsoft should be demanding pay cuts from everyone who writes a windows application, and the developers of browsers should be demanding a pay cut from everyone who writes a web application.
Apple has cornered the market such that over 90% of the American market owns an iPhone, and they’re taking advantage of the fact that they can make other companies’ products less competitive if they ban them from releasing an app on their platform unless they pay a fee to Apple. This is classic anticompetitive behavior, and if you love truly capitalism, it should make you mad.
Uncharacteristically shallow take from you, Tom. Please research this issue more before you speak on it again.

I have been Mark Zuckerberg's toughest critic.
Don't know if he ever read anything I wrote when I had a FascistBook account, probably not, but nobody called him out as strongly as I did.
I am now giving Mark Zuckerberg the benefit of the doubt in the hope that he's grown up.
Zuckerberg was insulated from really growing up when at a very, very early age he was inundated by billions upon billions of dollars.
I think to myself that if I had a billion dollars at 25 years-old I would be dead or in jail right now. I'm no Mark Zuckerberg. Of course, a lot of you reading this would have done a lot better than I would have. But having children, we all have witnessed, has a way of slapping one upside the head with reality. Who has not seen one of their crazy buddies change after becoming a father.
It looks to me like Zuckerberg had good parents and more relative to what appears to be his newfound appreciation for Free Speech and Liberty, IS a good parent.
Also, the reality imposed upon all of us in aging has a way of making conservatives of people in their thirties.
Delusional Liberals can only defend their alternative reality constructs for so long until reality defeats them. Those Liberals who refuse realities incessant knocking on the door to their lives wind up in Loony Bins or hosting television programs like 'The View.' Zuckerberg has exhibited, as far as I can see from a long way off, (I have fifty-dollars in the bank. Yes..., that far off!), that change one sees in a lot of men at his age.
I think he's just grown up and found his spine.
I think Zuckerberg's reaction to the attempt on Trump's life where Trump was shot through the ear was authentic. And that authentic reaction made me reflect upon something. Unlike you or I, Zuckerberg has had political leader-like levels of Security protecting him for DECADES.
No matter how many billions one has, if the thought that someone might take a shot at you goes through your mind from time to time that is going to wear on you deep down.
Zuckerberg has been painfully aware that there are people who would kill him for nothing more than the notoriety--the fame--of doing so.
    O.K., maybe not "painfully."
Zuckerberg's money can dull an awful lot of pain I would imagine. (And in all honesty I can't even imagine!)
But that reality has always been in the very back burner of Zuckerberg's mind since he made his first 20, or 50, or 100 million dollars.
That's why I believe Zuckerberg had a sincere and passionate response to Trump's amazingly brave response to having bullets whiz by his head within an inch of taking out the back of his skull along with brain material the way JFK was killed.
It has to have been a deep-seated fear in Zuckerberg's mind of just such an attempt being made on his life!
If you'll excuse my outhouse-psychological analysis; I think that assassination attempt on Donald Trump had a profound cathartic impact on Mark Zuckerberg and helped him to grow up instantly.
I think Zuckerberg might have experienced a vicarious facing of his own darkest demon through Donald Trump's amazingly brave reaction to almost being assassinated.
I think it is that simple: The one-time multi-billionaire dweeby high-tech nerd who had surrounded himself with liberal-fascist progressive socialist lunatics on the delusional WOKE Left has, like so many young men do later in life, grown-up a little late in the game, and in big part due to his witnessing Donald Trump survive an assassination attempt.
Donald Trump's amazingly brave reaction to almost having his head blown off, for Mark Zuckerberg, was a vicarious victory over a deep seated boogeyman that no matter how many billions one have, if is an innermost fear, has brought Mark Zuckerberg around to idolize Donald Trump as I do, as you do.
    Nothing wrong with that!
Welcome aboard , Zuck! Let's Make America Great Again!
    Better late than never.
    At least I hope so.
The alternative is scary. If Zuckerberg is feigning this new found Conservative bravery in order to buy time until his A.I. investments give him god-like capabilities with his internet power linked with his great wealth we can now only imagine what tyrannical control he will be able to wield over the world, and if he then ramps up the next level A.I. assisted political assault on Liberty by the Liberal-Fascist Left, then 'Houston, we have a problem.'
I pray that Zuckerberg jettisons his prior Fascist religio-political beliefs and terminates the implementation of the doctrines of that religio-political worldview upon the parameters of the products by his companies, and one day dies to his "almighty Self" as we all must do to become a Child of God, a spiritually regenerated that is to say born again New Creature in Christ Jesus, for 'What does it profiteth a man if he gain the whole world but lose his soul.'--Chris Farrell AD MMXXV NOLA-USA

Facebook is a service provider , Apple is an hardware products builder : so let’s compare Apple to Meta VR / AR of Zuckerberg: Apple is only updating with better cameras what was invented 20 years ago (boring) , Meta has produce the most used and innovative hardware for VR and AR as Quest3 , sunglasses for AR and much more (which will be the future of how we will play games or watch entertainment and eventually replace phones) 🙌
Apple tried with the Apple vision which is just a Mac on goggles…. And they failed miserably 😂

While in full agreement on the criticisms of Zuckerberg and the sick truth that is Facebook..☹️
Apple itself is not above reproach and I can’t believe I agree with Zuckerberg but Apple has certainly ridden Job’s coattails for 2 decades in the form of the iPhone.
There was and is Apple without Jobs and the contrast couldn’t be more clear after the Vision Pro or whatever that joke is. The Apple Watch is still unbelievably crap.
Honestly the Meta Quest 3 has been way more impressive and so if we’re comparing what each company has done in terms of consumer product delivery…Meta really brought the game of their VR headsets.
So there is that. Even I have to admit what’s what. Telling truth is abrasive but helps us all.
